Gmod.org Niceness Standards- A Load of Bull? - Garry's Mod

You can be negative, in a productive way. Just saying "lol u suk xDDDD" isn't productive and quite annoying. If you haven't got anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all. You're an 06er, you know how Facepunch works, and it's more than likely Gmod.org works the same way as well.

If this is the way you all are going to be acting, maybe comments should be removed entirely from gmod.org. Serious uploaders usually have a facepunch thread with with their upload to receive criticism. Bullshit addons like the jellyfish manhack skin shouldn't even get comments.

But as much as I don't condone dismissive comments (such as saying "u suck at gmod uninstall Steam), I find there are a number of uploads that honestly deserve such comments- there are some cases in which there is no room for construction at all.

Close guess. Garry cleared this up in the new login system thread. That rule literally applies to useless comments like the ASCII Picard facepalms and useless shit like "0Mg u sUk n00b go D1e". As long as the comment has some use it should never lead to a ban. So even the second comment should be fine as it points out a problem (not well though).

Garry already said you won't get banned for constructive criticism, but THIS ADDON sucks will get you banned.

comments on garrysmod.org is pointless. remember the old garrysmod.org? you didnt have comments. you downloaded something you wanted to. you liked it? great. you didnt? you delete the damn file then move on. no need to comment on a shit download or a good one.

Threads like these are posted up by those who get banned for being a troll, or a hateful $%#@, and usually meant to draw attention and start a flame war. What Garry is saying is "If you don;t have anything nice to say then Don't say anything" AKA - Keep your smartass comments to yourself.

Even if you're right, and half of all GMod.org users like to troll, that means the other half can offer tips, advice and other helpful posts. It's not like you have to take any part in the comments if you disagree with them. Saying they're pointless is pretty dim, to be blunt, but you're clearly not thinking it through if you say they serve no purpose. The purpose is to give feedback to the uploader, help him improve the design and to fix technical issues in the content. That's the point of comments, whether or not the comments are helpful in practice is irrelevant.

I do not agree with extremism in any of it's forms (it isn't just muslims who can be extreme), but comparing sick religious people to your perception of "niceness standards" (which, seems to be flawed anyway) is just plain stupid. This change has been brought in to improve garrysmod.org comments. If you don't like it, you're most likely part of the problem. If you're nice and constructive, you won't get banned for your comments. Treat others how you would like to be treated.

It is obvious that you only momentarily glanced at it and never really understood what it said. the keywords are: If you dont have something nice to say Which means: No criticism no matter how constructive So those kill breen saves keep blisfully poping up everywhere. You can't tell anyone that you didn't like something. Therefore they can't improve it. @Cloud I would like to be treated in that way. I want criticism. If I am just going to get showered with praise from a bunch of 10 year olds who only owned gmod for several days I might as well not post.

In all honesty, I don't even look at the comments. Not sure why they were added, people just lurk them for some reason. The most I have ever used them was to say that Sakarias' Air Vehicles were sweet, then left, never to return to the comments.
