Ok, I am going to do an experiment now. I will make a complex but useless adv dupe that has requirements up the asshole and does pretty much nothing but claim that it does so much and see what people will say now that they cannot say anything bad

I had a similar plan- upload something that was complete, legitimate crap about which nothing constructive could be said apart from "don't upload this". And nobody can say anything about it.

I was thinking about uploading a "drug container" where when you put in the wrong combination, it sets of a naquadah bomb from the stargate mod and it had a small covering the drugs shield with just enough power to keep up for 1 time and it resulted in everything except the drugs getting blown up.
I am now instead going with an altered version of my f-302 V1 calling it f-302 V1 remix. when you start flying it endlessly plays in a high pitched voice "TROLL LOL TROLL LOL TROLL LOL" and says on the screen "HAHA YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS CUZ YOU'LL GET BANNED FROM THE SITE! I'M NOW SUPPORTING THE TROLLS CUZ GARRY DOESN'T LIKE ME"
Regardless of the rule I try to give criticism along with positives so the user i am commenting to gets a better feeling form my comment. If I just say "You addon fucking sucks" he will take bad to that, but if you say "You know man your addon is pretty good but there is a strong lack of re playability with it that you should address" or something I think that gets through better.
Personally I think it all depends on the reaction of both the uploader and the commenter.
You can go and make a comment that you thought had no bad intentions.
(eg. I like the idea, but it could use work ect.)
But the uploader doesn't like the criticism/feedback and demands for a ban to be filed against the commenter.
Or it doesn't even have to do with the uploader, it could even be an admin who thinks he's doing the world justice by getting rid of the "troll".
All in all, it depends on how people react on the situation.
You can't make people give a positive reaction to your feedback or upload.
Anything can easily backfire on you.
I don't like the fact that it holds your steam account hostage so you can download things from garrysmod.org. I'm not putting my steam account info on there so I guess i'm not going to be downloading anymore addons. As far as trolling goes who cares. Trollers can troll and i'm not even going to pay attention to their dumb ass posts. You can basically be banned for any reason because someone was butthurt and someone said "FUCK N00B" in their post. if anyone has the staker stool that they can send me let me know :)

It...doesn't? Did you even read the damn thread? Your Steam account is perfectly safe, only Valve, the creators of Steam, who already have your password, will see your password, and that is just for a second while it is verified.
Garry has no control over your Steam account, and will only ban your Garrysmod.org account from making comments I believe.
Well, I see now how much of a bummer it actually is to be unable to comment- now I realize I can't comment on the awesome stuff (like this 1915 American LeFrance car dupe someone uploaded) either.
I think implementing the following might make this whole gig at least [I]tolerable[/I]-
-Warnings: If a moderator catches you not being nice enough, they will warn you. Excessively rude backtalk or continued trolling will result in being blocked.
-Temporary blocking: Violators will only be banned for a couple days or a week or so- permanently only after consistent violations in spite of warnings.
-Disable comments option: If uploaders don't want feedback, they should be able to disable the comments' section on their uploads.
If they really want to implement this obnoxious niceness business, they ought to at least make it somewhat fair.

I only started trolling after garry banned me for complaining about the porn mansion on garrysmod.org (which he the next day removed!) so not only are they throwing gasoline on the fires, they're also going around making more fires and then complaining that their shit is burning down and that its everybody else's faults. You can't blame the firefighters when you burn your dick off by playing with a lighter.

It is possible. I've been banned from chat. The red text about the steam acc shit is not exactly 100% true.
This whole thing has gotten pretty damn stupid. I have no idea why they banned my account from commenting. I only remember posting like 4 or so comments (after the red text had appeared), 3 of which telling a guy to stop annoying the hell out of me because I said he was stealing animations (which in fact he WAS). The other comment i just was asking a question about a mod. I get in today to find out i cant even comment for no reason. I guess they're now banning accounts before they even had that text up there. Which in my opinion, is extremely idiotic of them, and completely unfair.

I really don't want to link my steam account to the site, because I don't want to risk my account being compromised. Many others I've spoken to feel the same.
It's killing the community. There will be flamers, but you can just ban their accounts. Give users the option to disable comments. Also, what was the issue with letting people download things freely?

I miss the old days. Where Garry was just this figure in the background who broke addons with every update. Sure there were tons of random minges and trolls, but that's just part of life on the internet. You ignore it and move on.
The idea is that people will find a way to make it work. If he keeps try to enforce all these restrictions on people, they're not going to want to continue using the site.
Your account can't be "compromised". Your Steam account is perfecty safe as Garry has no power over it. All you lose is the ability to use the terrible comment system.
And Garry had good reason to add this. Stopping pirates who didn't buy his game from using server bandwidth he pays for seems fair to me. Wh should a pirate be allowed the privalledge of addons?

It is just as I foresaw. soon after garrysmod community dies, a new and more powerful sandbox game will arise forcing all users into a user based gameplay creating enslavement that will take over the world in only a couple of years. It was all in the prophecy (if you don't believe me then please check out my sandbox game when it gets released, it will be called Shepard's Mod)
So my disqus got banned from commenting but i'm still able to download things.
