Just don't use Hamachi o.o
Mostly used by pirates.
Can has security risks.
etc

Do you realize you actually have less security risks using Hamachi than port forwarding? Data is encrypted in the VPN and only the people on the network can see your server. Also, there's less risks for your computer since you have no ports forwarded to it.
I use Hamachi all the time. It works great for playing all kinds of games with my friend who is technologically inept. Also, I am tired of every poster being accused of piracy. How is piracy relevant to this at all? Is there some kind of pirate witch hunt going on here? :|
I've tried for fucking weeks to port forward, and it just won't work.
I've tried countless tutorials that explains it.
I don't see why it has to be so goddamn hard.

And I don't get why I have to do it.

Because people can't get onto your network otherwise? On your router/ PC/ gateway to the Internet there is a firewall. Which blocks the ever-loving shit out of connections, the only things allowed through normally are responses to a request you send out through a port (for example, viewing a website, you send a request out of Port 80, your firewall will let a reply back in through port 80).
A server does not do this, as a server does not send requests normally, just replies, so to let people use your server, you need to let them get requests through the firewall, which means disabling the port it wants to use (Source uses 27015 or something normally). This allows traffic to flow through that port uninterrupted.
Makes sense.
I always believed the firewall that comes with Windows was the only one you had to disable.
Though, i still have no idea how to do it, because when I enter the options of my router (by using the browser and writing a number in the adress bar) there is no option to forward ports.

My router employs KISS and calls it "Enable Applications"
I'll look into it later.
Thanks.

Hamachi is nice for private servers... or if you wanna host a server with your friends but have a broken/under-configurable firewall and router

Haha! Good one. :tiphat: Only if you allow people you don't know onto your network.
