Changing the port that your RDP server runs on will stop brute force attacks probably.
How would I do this?

Uninstalled the service pack 2 it was most likely causing this. And removed IE8
Well, its probably in the options for it, how am i supposed to know when you dont say which software youre using.
If youre using the windows one, try something like VNC, im sure that has a option for it.

My servers was under a DDoS, it made the servers crash, but not taking down the box
A large DDoS would be noticed easly (mostly takes down whole datacenter)

Limestone seems to be able to handle strong ddos attacks I"m using serverplugin_serversecure2.dll for my module as a replacement for daf seems to be working fine.

You need a hardware firewall if you're going to try and stop any real ddos threat. The server plugins are good for blocking script kiddies who use LOIC, but not people who actually take the time to spread their method of attack. That plugin would do nothing if someone decided to ddos your box offline :p

Limestone sells hardware firewalls.
I'm about to install wireshark.

I know, limestone has been my host for several years :P
I'm saying no matter what software you have, it is still easy to take out the box.
