Is this GMod 12?
Technically, yes.
Sorry mysteryman, I must have misread then. I'm fairly sure that Garry just acknowledged that this is 12.
This thread is full of idiots.
The game OFFICIALLY is called Garrysmod.
Technically you can call it garrysmod 10/11/12 but that is not it's official name.
Calling a game by it's engine/update number is idiotic, it's the equivelant of calling "Half-Life 2" "Half-Life 2 15" after the engine version it was recently updated to.
So, while you are right saying that Garrysmod is Gmod12, legally and officially it is only Garrysmod.
Now stop crying like a bunch of blubbering babies or do i have to call a WHAAAAAAmbulance?
It's legally Garrysmod? So to call it anything else would be illegal? Also Garry fucking stated it's Garry's Mod 12.

Legally as in the game is sold under the name GarrysMod. So if it came into question, whether it be in professional documentation or other misc business type things, it should always be referred to as Garrysmod POSSIBLY Gmod.

Someone could have a large gut but technically not be overweight, saying that just because that person has a gut it doesn't mean he is overweight.
[editline]03:10AM[/editline]
Okay hold on, to clarify on the "legal" thing if you still haven't figured it out.
When you bought garrysmod, check your payment statement/bill. On it it will state you bought GarrysMod. We can call it Gmod 12, just like how we can call half-life 2 HL2 but hl2 is just an acronym while gmod 12 is an acronym with the update numbers. But it's not its legal, official name.
Let's say, hypothetically, the games were brought into a court of law. The games will be referred by their official names. Hl2 would be Half-Life 2. Gmod 12/11/10 would be Garrysmod. Nothing bad will happen if you call it otherwise in the court but if you wish to call it that you must specify explicitly that Gmod 12 means almost the same thing. "Almost" because the case could have been brought in on another version of garrysmod, like 10. Because if there was a feature or something that caused the game to be in court in the first place, was removed in a later update; you need to specify that.
Also, "Technically" the game can be called GMod 92....

You mean GMod Update 92, which is stated in bug reports and such.
Enough damn comments about engine updates. I think it's 12 as an engine update.
1. Garry WON'T make another Garry's Mod, he will count every engine as the new GMod upgraded for free (GMod 10, 11, 12, 13 etc.).
2. Going back on topic, it would look ugly and involve next gen engines, which means Garry can't do it because they don't normally use Lua to run code. If you think that there's no use to lua, it would break the game pretty much completely if it were ported forward in any game engines without Lua.
So theoretically (if that's how it is spelt :P ) it is impossible to be able to cut through something at will in GMod unless it's breakable (it doesen't cut accurately, it just seperates into other smaller props on impact)
Short Term: There is no ability to create hollow and "cuttable" objects in source.

see? Now you're catching on.
So, technically.. This isn't Garry's mod.
This is Garry's Game.

Actually you can make hollow objects in source :P
GMOD 11 is made. OP is partly dumb for not knowing as such, but I forgive him.

Technically it is a game now, since he was given the full source code. This man speaks the truth, it only further helps me out. While technically it is a game, we don't call it Garry'sGame, so why should we call it Gmod 12 when it's only technically gmod 12.
see? Now you're catching on.
I was going to reply to you, but fp keeps timing out when I try to reply and I've given up.

So why don't we just call its Ggame 3 then? or even better, we call it gmod and nobody give a crap cuz its just a game derived from a mod... wait, that means gmod went backwards!!!!

Dude, I'm a male model in california who people elsewhere in the world are agreeing with. something is majorly fucked up here... I'm gonna go hide in the basement (the new projector finally arrived today so its just gonna be me and like 1 or 2 movies before i get bored and start calling people up)
this thread hurts my brain.
No :colbert:
Get it through your thick fucking head that this is Garrysmod 12. Engine updates need something to reference them by, or people will just get even more confused.
look in your steam games tab you idiot, do you see a number? NO, so shut the fuck up.
You children make me rage. :psyboom:
Please stop calling it Garry's Mod <number here>.
As you can see clearly below: Half-Life 2 is HALF LIFE 2
And Garry's Mod NOT 11 is GARRY'S MOD

[editline]05:50PM[/editline]
This isn't 2005. We don't call GMod by numbers any more.
[editline]05:51PM[/editline]
As you can see, I take this SO SERIOUSLY THERE ARE TWO GARRY'S MOD IN MY STEAM ACCOUNT WITHOUT NUMBERS. :gonk:
Only nineteen, eh? :smug:
Boy, I can't wait to play Garry's Game.
i got a suggestion for a new gmod if you make a gmod 11 have a new prop type that has plastic, wood, metal ect.. flat boards and a tool that lets you cut this new prop type to any shape you want so you can make different bases or even be able to fill in small gaps that no props can evenly fill without having to make it not collide and then it sticks out possibly a Lazar cutter the reason i suggested a new prop class is the new prop give you the ability to be able to cut it idk how hard it would be to make something like this but garry made a mod he surely could make something this simpler or someone could try make a addon like this
Its already implemented even in hl2, you have to use the qc command $jointsurfaceprop
