'not RDM because he was traitor'
'HE WAS A FUCKING TRAITOR WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU SLAYING ME???'
You get the point.
Oh, and I'm admin on a server that doesn't count pushing people off and goomba stomping as RDM.
'<guy's name> PUSHED ME OFF BAN HIM'
And so on..
Why slay him? If he has that immature with that much of an attitude do you really want him playing on your server? The only commands an admin should need are kick and ban.
When I was admin on G-S things were pretty straight forward, if people were nice you just talked it out, otherwise I would just apply facepunch kick/ban ethics.
Most admins these days just try to do way too much.
[editline]10th May 2014[/editline]
Most admins I meet these days are just plain stupid though.

M8, even though you didn't RDM, being admin is proof and I have proof that you just mass rdmed.

7. People who are lazy and want everything personally handled to them.

i.e 90% of TTT players
i'm honestly sick of TTT partially because a bunch of shitty youtube commentators made the entire thing become "so mainstream", so now a bunch of autistic 13-16 year old kids with an ego bigger than their dick play it. TTT before it even got so viral had the aspect of actually letting you use common sense.
I.E: if i play TTT now, and I see a ton of dead un-identified bodies, and there's someone running away from them; if i decide to shoot him I'd get banned because he'd cry to a badmin and say "there was no evidence!"
AKA 99% of the TTT servers today
I have been an admin for three TTT communities. I have never enforced RDM rules, I have never enforced anti-discrimination rules, I outright fucking refuse to enforce propkilling rules.
People think it's bad practice to not enforce RDM rules, and I strongly disagree. The problem which I saw far to often with RDM is that sometimes people shoot other people out of paranoia, mob mentality takes over, and you end up with about five people dead.
The thing is though, that's Trouble in Terrorist Town. I don't see RDM in that type of ordeal, but rather a group of people having paranoia tip the scale, and as such they react to it. Likewise I have had ordeals where someone called someone else a nigger, the one guy kills the other for being a racist, and I am expected to make a choice of who to ban. I say that's fucking horse shit. If the guy is being openly racist, I could care less if you put a cap in his ass, like wise I won't stop the guy from killing you in the next round.
It's a matter of blood respect. You learn to stop hating and fearing people once you realize that you can solve things between each other diplomatically.

I started playing TTT when it first came out and I am absolutely sick of the community now for these reasons. Everyone's afraid to freaking do anything unless someone ACTUALLY tries to shoot them and kill them and by then its too late and because if you kill on a suspicion kids and shitlord admins will cry "RDM RDM RDM SLAY" and ruin the experience. What's the purpose of detective anymore? What's the use of knowing what gun someone got killed with, who they last saw, and when they died if you can't even use it to your advantage?
It's like 75% of the goddamn TTT population forget that it's a game and the POINT of the game is to get killed. You get killed and you lost the round? Deal with it, it's a part of the game. Shit servers with 500 rules restricting players from doing absolutely anything and young inexperienced admins only reinforces the "wahhhh I lost the game" mindset.
Fuck serious roleplayers, entitled shitlords
Honestly srs rpers are such nerds. :words:
But yeah, being an admin is easy. You just gotta find the balance between being a firm asshole and making everyone happy.
Before anyone says anything, try administrating a seriousRP gamemode. Holy Christ.
"wahhhh I lost the game"
Fuck.
Try admining something like Cider/Applejack
I used to get calls about every 4-5 minutes, quite a nightmare considering I was also the only U.S located admin.

Shit, I really need to get that server that I wanted to make. Basically just TTT with lax rules, a map rotation that isn't the same as every other shitty server, and no garbage pointshop skins. But I am keeping custom weapons cause I do like creating them.

M9K is retarded, this isnt Call of Duty, nobody needs that many weapons. I use default CS:S guns

I think it's good to have some sort of rules system with TTT because if there aren't any, then it just essentially becomes deathmatch where certain players have slightly better equipment and honestly, that's kind of boring because that's not really what I'm looking for when I play TTT

Exactly what I think. That guy only posts about how great his server is for not enforcing rules and how intelligent he is. He comes off as a bit of a prick

The only thing you have to do is ban hackers and people that spam ooc? Rp will take care of everything ic.
If your the owner, you do what you want. Just ban them if they are giving you troubles.
Got sick of that jeep thruster penis toilet vehicles and wrote a plugin (2-3 years ago) to filter out noobs with playtime below 1000 hours server worked great until gmod 13 brought me another noob-flood and all the good ones left the game

Oh I agree. I don't mind people enforcing things like anti-ghosting rules, anti-server raiding rules, and anti-hacking rules. My problem is when things are already in place to deal with other things, and people enforce rules simply because either they lack knowledge regarding the certain thing(ie. Propkilling), or enforce things that are incredibly vague and have different suits and meanings for different people

I had a good laugh at that, The fix for this is don't have children on your staff. usually the fix anyways.
(Kid is beyond stupid, He didn't check console to see what you were spawning seeing if it was you by steamID or not?)
Secondly it's a beyond stupid rule if the server didn't want people using the rope tool they should have set in place restrictions, Or limiting the rope tool.
LIMIT ROPE
????
Profit.
Then again poorly managed roleplaying servers are growing like wildfire.

That's how it rolls in Garry's Mod. If you stay for longer than 3000 hours, and play a certain few gamemodes for a decent amount of time, you tend to become very cynical with how certain things are kept and runned. I still have a few, "Why the fuck did we run it like this?" type deals for some of this shit I have done in the past. Things constantly evolve, you gotta evolve with it.

Gerting rid of laws and cops is not going to make our society "fix itself". And with immature players on games, works even worse.

When you have an RP gamemode you usually have a police force already enforcing the law, they should be able to handle murder cases on their own. In TTT, you have a karma system that can be set to permanent karma to prevent raiders from coming back and doing more harm to your server.
Almost every gamemode on Garry's Mod has an alternative to using rules and admins.

Yes, excessive administration even hurts genuine gameplay. Have an example:
Lately on DarkRP servers there is a thing going on where you have to advert a raid (seriously, advertise in character that you are going to try and break into someone's house). This effectively renders trying to play a sneaky thief impossible.

because most people on darkrp bitch and moan when they lose items to thieves

Then let them, you don't loose much if those players never come back if you are not after the money.
I don't get the fuss with M9K and CSS guns on TTT. I understand the complain of 20 minutes downloading from the workshop 30 models but is it really bad to replace the 8 stock guns with their 8 M9K counterparts? Especially if it only takes about 45 seconds to download them all.

The worst thing about it is that it makes you run to your door, gun in hand, ready to open fire if you hear that lockpicking noise. I do it, and I've observed many others doing it as well.
If you MUST have people advertise that they're raiding, make them do it in OOC at least.

What do you mean, they look nice and all together if done right it's only 15mb compressed.
