What do you mean, they look nice and all together if done right it's only 15mb compressed.
Never said they looked bad, it's just an overused and boring weapons set.

My problem with M9k, and this might've already been fixed for all I know, is that if you're joining a server that sends them via the Steam Workshop, it'll still make you download the files even if you're already subscribed or have them And that's a bit of a pain when servers send every pack, which are like 200mb each
And CS:S is not?
What's wrong with the CS:S weapons? They're boring, yes, but they get the job done. Replacing them with M9K is just swapping out boring for boring. Also, by replacing the stock guns with their M9K Counterparts as you said, are you using just the models, or the guns themselves?
I only use the models using fastdl (not workshop) which is 15mb in total of downloads. I use the Sleek Weapon Base on Coderhire for all my weapons which is pretty great :) [editline]14th May 2014[/editline] So yeah, I only take the models textures, and sounds.

In my opinion, I think there should be a server tag in the browser that indicates if the server uses WorkshopDL or FastDL, that way you can actually filter out 80% of the shitty servers. From a sys-admin point of view, WorkshopDL is a terrible option if you have the option to host a FastDL. Let's say you want 3 models from a pack of 10 models. With FastDL, you can easily filter out those other 7 models, while WorkshopDL forces the players to download all 10 of them. Which is, in my opinion, not nice towards the players, mainly because they have to sit in the loading screen for alot of time, but it also uses up disk space. For me and perhaps many others, disk space is crucial as I have my games installed on an SSD, and don't want it flooded with server content.
I run a small time sandbox server using ACF thats mainly just for me and sometimes a few friends, however I do enjoy playing with new people that randomly drop in. The only problem is that most of the players that take a gander apparently just join because it has a low ping relative to their location, thus the first thing I see or hear is a weapon being drawn and said person trying to shoot everything to shit. Although I try to clearly announce that my server is meant for building only (and maybe a series of random attempts at crashing my own server when I forget to set weights when working with hydros and elastics. *sigh*) It does not seem to register with the above mentioned people. Obviously we have the infamous language barrier which I, since I am a deplorable asshole, do not care about too greatly. (judging from a number of logs, most people connect from Germany, a few from the UK.) And then we have the mingebags, i.e. the people that just dont care and want to cause grief. The above is really the reason why I've become such an asshole in terms of server management, if the first thing you do is draw a weapon or, as I see it, intentionally cause havok with whatever means then youre getting the boot. With all that said it is just a server at home meant for say 6-8 players in total that I run for fun however it still startles me that out of say a hundred or so connections to my server only three or four random people joining were not in fact mingebags. So to refer back to the OP's original question, no it is not hard to run a server or be an admin but it gnaws at your very soul sometimes to see how deplorable the userbase can be. TL;DR No Also Shazbot
You could always set it up to be like "Trusted" rank only
Yes, you are absoloutely right. However im lazy and i was more or less pointing out the soul gnawing part.
What does M9k stand for? I know it's like a gun pack, but I'm clueless as to what it actually means.

Swing the banhammer, problem solved.
Swing the banhammer, problem solved.
your part of the problem.

Swing the banhammer, problem solved.
your part of the problem.
Apparently that depends on who you ask.
What has your experience been whilst hosting a server?
Being admin is like running a daycare center. Sometimes the bad kids from the other classroom will come in pretending to be nice, but when you're not looking they'll bully the other children and leave before you can give timeouts.
Try running a darkrp server. Also try running one when its only you half the time taking the admin calls. Fucking nightmare!!
"ABOOOOOSE!" "My dad/uncle/brother/otherfamilymember works for steam, and you're going to get permabanned!" "I will wepowt you to the administwator" "fuk u tihs servr suk im leving!" Player noob has left the game (Disconnect by user).
"My dad/uncle/brother/otherfamilymember works for steam, and you're going to get permabanned!"
Man we say this as a joke on our server
I hate it when someone comes on (usually a child) and starts causing trouble the instant they get on. In the rules I have, use common sense. When I gag then for playing shitty quality music on the mic they say its not in the rules and I need to ungag them or their going to get me banned.
Admin on #1 DarkRP server for a while. DarkRP. #1. On gametracker. Attracts...certain...non-adults... *Shudder*
I fucking hate the type of players who act like an asshole or ruin the game for others, but try to find loopholes to get out of punishment by saying 'oh this one really specific thing isn't mentioned in the rules, it's not fair to punish me' Like, I am not responsible for your lack of self-awareness or consideration towards other people. I guess I now kinda understand why some servers have huge fucking rule lists, because they want to cover as many obscure scenarios as they can :v:
add a blanket 'common sense' rule
If you own the server, why bother? Your server, your rules, your choices to who gets banned, who doesn't. A common sense rule should be common sense anyway.
because if it's not written you'll get player reports against you
Trying to make scripts for people, but they won't send me 'their' current code (ripped of the internet code) that I need to modify because they think it's godly and that I will steal it. Same with people who have ideas for a gamemode but have no Lua knowledge "It's really really good, I can't tell anyone or they will steal it" So... How the fuck is anyone meant to make it for you?

Huh, that sounds like alzheimer's.
