Release the radio as a proper addon, if its different from the others in that it actually plays different music from a stream then thats better than a radio model that plays an mp3.
I can think of many reasons you got banned for the radio entity:
1: they are unoriginal as hell, off the top of my head I have seen atleast 8
2: you probably took the basecode off of some other radio Swep (which that creator probably stole) and changed one string to play your stupid music
3: when you were uploading the music file I'm sure you read this
(yes it says "No not upload files", that typo is Garry's fault)
4: Not only do the files you did not create include the actual Lua file, but it also includes the sound file
To anyone who think I'm making up those upload rules, here's the link you really should read them, to prevent this from happening again
I'm sure those 4 reasons are more than enough to get you banned.
This radio was not a swep. I haven't stolen a single line of code for this radio from other toybox entities. I wasn't static radio, with uploaded mp3's. I was an Internet stream radio, which was streaming music from Internet, not playing music from gmod folder, and it has song requesting feature. Does any entity it the whole toybox have a song request feature?

The moderator deleted the radio, and i lost all the code. He could at least put it into my workspace.. -_-
It was quite popular. If people "don't need any more entities that just play sounds", they would say, wouldn't they? Or their choice doesn't matter?
I don't think garry wants to pay for the hosting of a radio SWEP for every song in the world.
[editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
It needs to end somewhere.

I believe this one streamed via an HTML panel. Ones with each and every mp3 under the sun, understandably is something nobody would want to host, but this would be a ~3kb file.

I repeating second or third time: This was not a SWEP. It was entity. >_<

It doesn't fucking matter
Because they're shit.
I would've just took that answer.
Garry, I've been working on a radio entity that looks in your Toybox downloads folder, and displays a list of any music you have downloaded from the Toybox. You can then click the filename to play it, or "use" it to bring up the list again and choose a different song.
Would this be an acceptable Toybox entity, or would you consider it to be ban-worthy? I haven't finished coding it yet, but I thought I should check to make sure I don't waste my time coding it if it is just going to get me in trouble.
(You can check out my progress if you want - script ID 14129)
People shouldn't be uploading songs to toybox.
If I wanted to listen to music, I'd open iTunes.
People shouldn't be uploading songs to toybox.
What about them not uploading the songs, but streaming via bass (if it exists on the client) or an HTML panel?
What I do not understand is why people keep uploading/making these boom/radio ents. There are still a few of them left. I counted around 11 (includes the other boom crap).
I personally really don't care what people make but when you see too much of the same stuff being uploaded. It becomes a mess.
I totally agree to the last two posts (garry and fruxodaily). No one should go to ToyBox for music, and no one should upload it. It's still piracy, whether the music was downloaded off of ToyBox or not.
Edit: Double Ninja'd
you got banned beause radios ar bloody anoying we have over 9000 of them allredy we need something better
Look at garrysmod.org and the amount of reuploads, most without even crediting the original Author. Look at Toybox and the Radios that at least have SOME difference between them.

Okay, by your logic you are pirating music while listening FM radio station in your city.

That radio was totally different.
1) It wasn't a "rickroll" radio which kills zombie
2) It wasn't a radio that just plays pre-downloaded mp3s
3) It wasn't just a copypasted radio with different stream
It was totally different online radio with track request feature, with totally different code.
I think that person who removed it from toybox not even bothered to check it out, and that is very sad.

I meant through downloads. [sp]Why is everyone so damn technical about what you say when they get what you mean?[/sp]

That radio was pure streaming, without any music included with it. Generally, of course, including any licensed mp3s with your download is a piracy, but this is not the case
And all music on the radio was obtained from free sources like promodj.ru, where authors release their own tracks for free.
Because they're shit. Any that are on there now were uploaded a long time ago. We won't need any more entities that just play sounds.
Maybe i agree with you ,but why people is not banned on garrysmod.org ? I uploaded ,i was banned ! This thing scare me now

Ah, now I see what you mean. I misunderstood about the ToyBox upload mentioned in this thread, I thought it was just another MP3 that makes crap blow up or another radio that activates an MP3 with the use key. If it was a streaming radio, then I'd consider it good.

We'd like to know what you uploaded to get banned. You mentioned this in another topic, but we don't know what you did.
I was banned for "piracy" .I think this is because I 've uploaded a song (Billie Jean-Michael Jackson) under copyright but im not sure ...

yeah don't do that
Oh sh** !Can you tell garry to add the name of the moderator who banned you so people will be able to discuss with him and argue about the ban

you broke the rules there's nothing to argue imo
I thought the radio ents were garbage because they only played 1 song and it was coppied.
People shouldn't be uploading songs to toybox.
Then lets outlaw Ha3's Gunstrumental! It plays songs!
[editline]2nd January 2011[/editline]
But if it's a piracy issue, then just tell us
[editline]2nd January 2011[/editline]
I hope you guys know I'm kidding...
Radios are not garbage ? But boom things are . Really, what 's the use of a boom thing ? it just play music (you need to hold a key) and make npcs explodes !
Radios play a song/ambience and you can build happily :D

They are still junk. Why listen to one song when you have an entire library of songs to choose using your media player. Its stupid to download some radio entity to do that.

Yes let's remove an swep that dosen't play songs and just follows a user-created routine.
Yes let's remove an swep that dosen't play songs and just follows a user-created routine.
It does play songs.
It plays the legend of Zelda and other random shit
I was being a sarcastic bastard about the whole thing
You deserve this medal, doc.
P.S. Toybox is not for music. Toybox is for gaming.
Plus radios ents are redundant now anyway, you can thank the Gunstrumental for that.
