They call them dedicated servers, but to the Garysmod community, that usually means a crappy server hosted from someones home using SRCDS.
So, instead, we gave them a much more meaningful name; "Server Boxes"

Find a server provider which doesn't try to look professional in any way.
Dedicated Server is a technical term, box is more of a slang of sort.
Running a Gmod server from home is a blandly not great idea, considering
some of the following things.
1) GMod requires faster servers in terms of processing.
2) You would at least want 5 Mb/s upload speed for a stable server.
3) From home you don't know when your internet will go out, your server will never be up 24/7
4) Your service provider may start cutting your connection because you are uploading more than your speed.
In real terms you arn't provided with the speed you see on speedtest.net you get a
much higher speed but it is shared between a group of people in your area and if you start hogging all the resources its not very good for the other people. I'd reccomend you pay monthly for a server and setup some donation things to keep it up.
It's not a good idea if you want to look like a decent community or even be a community. If you just want a couple servers to play with your friends or something, it is a very good idea and a very cost effective one because it is free.
70% of gameservers are empty most of the time, paying for an empty server for a few friends is pointless.
Gmod doesn't require anything special in ways of processing power, almost any computer made since 1999 can be used as a decent server. Now if you are looking for a powerful server which can support hundreds of props and wire and shit flying everywhere, that is something different. Most computers could easily support a small build server.
But at this scale, you probably just want to be doing a Listen Server anyways. However setting up SRCDS and getting a server going is kind of fun.

exacly my point. nobody calls them "server boxes" they are called servers OR boxes, but with them together its stupid. Its the same as calling Cannabis "weed skunk" it sounds stupid with them together but calling it weed Or skunk sounds ok.
