My story is kinda warez. Hope I won't get banned for it. Friend showed me some kind of steam unlocker. -snip- I think. I downloaded random games from it. Appeantly I got GMod from that. I found TF2 too. And maybe a few more. I know Zombie Panic: Source was one of the other ones. And then, there was a thing called Christmas Sale and I bought TF2, uninstalled -snip- and then bought GMod. It was very fun to actually play in multiplayer (Warez sucks ass. No MP is bad) . I had only played in SP or a laggy non-steam server. Also, Whoever want's to know then I have bought all the games I pirated now. Why the heck did I DL them at first place? Maybe the price, or not being sure if Steam is a safe place, where I can buy stuff. Also, everything in this happened in 2009. And I had that patch for 1 month, From november til december. [sp]I hope that a mod won't ban me. [/sp]
It was sometimes around gmod 4 that i found it. But back then it was all basic and no fancy old spawn menu and alot of tools was not created back then lua sounded like something taken out of a sci-fi comic. good old times oh i found it on moddb top 100 half-life 2 mods
i started playing with gmod 8. some of my friends on xboxlive were talking about it so i checked it out and got hooked

I saved up for it, already having Portal, and bought it on my birthday. I spent most of the day making shitty ragdoll poses. Ah, the days of running GMod on low on a laptop at 15fps. That sucked.
Found out about Garry's mod when I was looking around Youtube, I found some videos of Gmod 9 somewhere around 2008-09 but didn't get it until 2010.
Well, back when GMod 10 was still fairly new this guy I knew told me to get it. At first I wasn't sure about it, but then another friend of mine bought it for me, and I was hooked. Simple and short story. Nothing spectacular about it.
It all started when I found out about PHW Online which is long gone now. There were those comics that I read somewhere that lead me to it and there I read some comics and then I noticed the good old Gmod watermark at the top right corner of the screen. I accessed the website and downloaded the mod and started playing :D It was 2006 when this all happened. I really wanted to find out how people made the comics, the posing, that's all I wanted gmod for. I eventually met my current best Steam friends of today through it.
Youtube and a few friends
or not being sure if Steam is a safe place, where I can buy stuff.
I don't really understand that - the chance of losing £10 in a paypal transaction to a dodgy site, or the chance of having to reformat your £x hundred computer?
Saw a video of a nuke from the nuke pack I believe.
some old gmod 9 videos.
Discovered it a few years ago when reading Concerned (http://www.hlcomic.com/)
Youtube.
A friend told me about it. Same friend informed me of minecraft. Best. Friend. Ever.
Random videos.
I was browsing videos on Youtube of Half-Life 2, and in the related videos was a really poorly made flailing-ragdolls video that I laughed my ass off to because [del]I was stupid[/del] I'm dumb. :3: [editline]7th February 2011[/editline] And that is how I discovered Gmod.
My friend told me to try it out and bought for me
I was at a friends house and they showed me it. I fell in love with the game right then and there.
My brother has shown me garry's mod 9 a long ways back. I thought I was just supposed to play the campaign using all the weapons it gives me (all hl2 weapons and a glowing blue laser beam gravity gun). Then he hit the Q key...
I was at one of those gameshacks or whatever you call them (like a huge room where you buy a ticket and there are like 100 xboxs, PCs, and PS3s or w/e) and saw it on the list of PC games and figured I'd try it out.
stuff white people like
First, Picture of the Day submissions on HalfLifeFiles.com. Then, the Idiots of Garry's Mod series. Then more and more YouTube videos. Then Steam, where I bought it - one of my bestest choices in gaming so far.
I discovered it just after I bought HL2 way back in december shortly after HL2 was released. It was so long ago now I don't even remember what year it was.... lol
I don't really understand that - the chance of losing £10 in a paypal transaction to a dodgy site, or the chance of having to reformat your £x hundred computer?
I payed with my fathers credit card. And I had never payed online before, atleast on international sites or such.
Dad told me about it. Now hes pissed at me because I stole his hobby.
It was so long ago I honestly don't even remember, I just know I got it when it was still just a small mod.
Some movie on youtube I was like "Gmod, what is that shit, and how the heck do they do it?"
My older brother showed me Half Life:Full Life Consequences and Idiots of Garry's Mod
Was scouting hl2files.com since the release of Half Life 2, found whichever first version was released there.
