How about we just leave him alone? He won't help us help him help us all (Quote from portal).
Also, I think 1.82Ghz or whatever isnt enough. I think it said on steam that 2.5GHz was required.

That's all it does? No error, no nothing?
And it does this with ALL Steam games?
Sounds like a Steam issue.
I gots same problem too
Right click on "Garry's Mod"in your Steam games list.
Then choose "Properties".
Then click "Set advanced launch options" (Or something like that.)
Type this: -dxlevel 81
It worked for me.

Srsly, Ive bin trying to figure this out for WEEKS.
Month late reply I know. I have this problem aswell if someone could help it would be much appreciated. I understand OP is a fag, but I will show much gratitude to any help given.
Find steam .exe, right click, properties, compatibility tab, and if there is a box that is checked saying run in compatibility for... Uncheck it. If it already is unchecked, don't bitch at me! Ive only told people Windows 7 to do that . Although doing it does help allot of little problems.
Oh you do have 7 now, so what I said may do more than what I originally thought!

You're a little more than a month off, there.
I have a problem kind of like yours, I click 'play' on my Garry's Mod on steam in the library and it will just do the little screen where it goes 'Preparing to load Garry's Mod' or something. It will also put me as 'In Game' and after I wait about 5 seconds, my Windows 7 cursor does the loading animation, and then I go 'Out of Game' and 'Online' and nothing happens. No error messages pop up. No crashing pops up. No screen changes pop up. The Garry's Mod window picture doesn't even show up in the bottom of my screen. I have had this problem since November of 2010, I tried a lot of things, I uninstalled the Garry's Mod, I uninstalled my Anti-Virus program, I deleted the whole Garry's Mod Folder...Nothing worked. I have Portal, Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Lost Coast, and Garry's Mod. All of the games work EXCEPT Garry's Mod. Please help!
