if it isn't coded in, you can't trust people to do it. why do you think rp servers need so many admins?
DarkRP, I never want to see it once again in life. I was once payed to setup a DarkRP (Steam games, I love this payment), you know, code a few LUAs, setup some jobs, setup the admins and move on with life. I had to listen to smelly kids for 2 months saying that "OMGOGMOGMOGMOGMOM ADMIN COME BAN XYZ", even though all I did was setup the server and wasn't admin or whatsoever. Lesson is: Kids are smelly and they'll pee you off, keep yourself away from them.
I used to play TnB, then my account got permabanned because it had apparently been hacked. It told me that if I wanted to be unbanned, I should add milk2 to my Steam Friends. I did that several months ago, he still hasn't replied.
if it isn't coded in, you can't trust people to do it. why do you think rp servers need so many admins?
If everything is already scripted though, there's not really any point in the players being there is there? The whole point of RP is to be creative, not to run a script like a fucking bot.
if it isn't coded in, you can't trust people to do it. why do you think rp servers need so many admins?
I may be the wrong guy to word this, but most admins need most of their powers stripped down too a more bare-bone form. I'm sick of players getting banned because they did something the admin didn't approve or didn't help the admin's well being. You know what makes a good admin? A guy who can stow fear into mingebags, and create a feeling of safety to regulars. That's a good admin. Admins are there to stop people from killing the server not restrict the rp.
MIB Those sons of bitches don't let me kill the aliens without a just cause despite the fact I'm an official member of the Men In Black.
Attempt. I understand it perfectly fine, it's to avoid powergaming, but sometimes it really bugs the crap out of me. For example, if I'm about to hit a citizen with a stunstick, I'll have to say /me raises his stunstick up into the air, and slings it down in an attempt to hit the citizen and the citizen WILL ALWAYS say "/me dodges the stunstick" or something like that. ALWAYS. It makes it really frustrating to try and RP something in general, since whenever I attempt to do something they will always find a way to dodge it, thus making it more unrealistic.
That's where FearRP comes into play. If you're on a good server, they will enforce it and not even let the citizen react. But meh... That's exactly why I don't like HL2RP. There are only so many things you can do. I much prefer Severance to be honest.
Noone roleplays fear in Severance either.
Fear RP is near damn impossible..
Fear RP is near damn impossible..
What? No, it isn't.
I think he meant that FearRP is near damn impossible with the community today. Noone wants to roleplay out their fear.
That is more than true.
OP Dumb.
:saddowns:
I use to do FearRP/PainRP... I sorta stopped when I tried to RP getting hit by the shockblast of a nearby artillery shell, and I got called a terrible RP'er for not shooting at the enemies.

I don't think the majority of the garrysmod community understands the great concept of RP. They either think of it as a GTA RPG or a mission to be a Rebel Leader or a CP Commander (Excuse my improper vocabulary. Not into hl2rp). I noticed that even in Starcraft, RP has changed from hours of fun to 30 minutes till everyone leaves cause nobody wants to loose. I think the world of online gaming has lost their touch with RP.
The world of online gaming consists of prepubescents.
Also about roll function. I don't think that it's good that numbers decide and control the fate and skills of your character. Therefore, combat RP with roll is not making any sense. People should know their characters abilities and accept it when they get killed.
And there's always the problem of: Extremely muscular grown man wearing body armor and little eight-year-old girl. Eight-year-old girl for some reason tries to uppercut the man. Girl rolls 100 Man rolls 1 Girl decapitates the man with a single blow.

OF COURSE, GMOD SAVES THE DAY THERE
Wrong RPG. I'm not even sure they sell d100's. OF COURSE, GMOD SAVES THE DAY THERE
Most ive seen was a d26
Wrong RPG. I'm not even sure they sell d100's. OF COURSE, GMOD SAVES THE DAY THERE
From what I've seen, most table top RPGs use a pair of d10s (one with 0-9, one with 0-90 marked out by multiples of 10) to act as a d100 when they need to find a percent or something similar. There are d100's, but they're pretty rare.
NLR. that rule, while good on paper, is exploitable especially to people of a higher power in the server. i was a CP, IC, had a report of mob boss messing shit up (had no idea it was an SA (superadmin) at the time), i was just doing my job, it drives me insane that he shouts "NLR NLR" because other CPs were avenging me, i told them to stop, its not worth it. the 3 minute NLR time was up and went for him again and guess what? i get shot dead. bragging and loling his ass that he's invicible and also we were issuing warrants, but laughed at us, again because "LOLNOPROOF", he was killing CPs within 3 inches, thats proof enough. TL;DR NLR should be re written and yes, it was a DarkRP server.

NLR is a fine rule. It's just that people misunderstand. It has nothing to do with keeping the killer or the victim safe. People try to twist this rule to their favor, but they just make themselves look like morons in the process. Its real purpose is so that your characters cannot undergo the exact same scenario they just did a few seconds ago. The RP will get repetitive if this rule is gone. This is where people don't get it. BOTH PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT HAVE TO FORGET WHAT HAPPENED. When NLR is in effect, everyone has to forget what happened, not just one of the people. If I get killed, I can still walk back to the crime scene when I respawn. Since NLR is in effect, the event essentially never happened.

I'm walking 'round a corner just see a citizen stab a cop who was searching another citizen in the back, making the cop accidently fire his weapon into the searchee, killing him instantly. Later, the same guy walked by me and the cops after the injured cop was bougth back to the Nexus. No comment was made about him coming at all. No interaction.
If someone wants a serious RP "experience" why don't they just code in a NLR where if your character dies, it's inaccessable for one hour, and you have to make a second character if you want to continue playing.

The scripts can make it more presentable and overall more enjoyable, but the script shouldn't be doing the role-playing for people.
How come whenever I RP people scream 'QUARK IS RDMing!!' ?
