Depends really. For maps, you own the IP of the design but not the map itself. For lua, you own the IP of the scripts. Original models, you own the entire IP.
True, which is the main problem here. I don't see how I can take Gmod.biz seriously while they copyright things which don't belong to them at all, the design and the map itself.
The way they designed that map is shit anyway so why bother arguing.

That's not the argument. The argument is that they're claiming copyright on it when it wasn't even them that made it.

Nobody takes them seriously anyway.
Okay so they can decompile AND edit the map without permission, but nobody else can.
Hmm, that's one nice double standard.
lol, gmod.biz

GMod.biz are the master of double standards.

Secure your hosting? While not a major security risk, having a module installer publicly open is fairly silly.
The map probably has problems anyway, since they decompiled the original and presumably recompiled it afterwards. Even if there is no visible damage to it, there will always be an unseen problem if you do that.
D'aww, Metro Police seems pretty upset.
So you can't stand the map because of one thing in one corner of the entire map?
Host a server with that map, except put watermarks all over it , and have a friend tell the admins of that server their map was stolen.
I'm pretty sure in the general rules of copyright, you can't add a few changes to a work then call it your own.
It's probably not even an actual copyright either, just some words people slap onto their maps in fear of having them stolen. I don't think you can actually copyright a level from a video game, when said video game and none of it's tools were made or developed by you.

The map itself isn't copyrightable, but the design is.
