This includes RP. It isn't our fault that sandbox has gotten dull, even though flying around with planes and building things is quite fun.
Now pull your head out from whatever rock you've stuck it under, make like Minecraft and build on your own. The rest of us will be having fun instead of making rants.

Roleplay isn't ruining Garry's Mod. Granted, there are a lot of roleplay server, but why is that?
Perhaps because the majority likes roleplay in general? Perhaps because Garry's Mod is a sandbox game where you are free to do whatever you want?
If you personally don't like roleplay, then that's fine. Don't play it.

Yes, we can hack gmod itself because, in one of garry's rooms there is a HUGE box which is GMod. He takes orders from it, fulfills every request it has, and occasionally rubs it's feet.

People can do what they want. I like build and RP. I have a great build server to play on when I want to build, its nearly always populated. Same with RP. I think you just need to do a better job at finding games to play, OP.
The point of GMod as far as I'm concerned was to [I]do anything[/I]. Unfortunately, people as yourself only see it as a building game because that's what it was at first. I for one (and probably most of the people in this thread), believe that GMod is kind of an everything game. You can deathmatch, survive, roleplay, build, etc. My advice to you, OP, is as follows:
Either get over the fact that GMod has more than a few roleplay servers but still has more sandbox than anything, or, go play Minecraft which some people seem to think is better than GMod anyway. I just don't see how, but at least I respect their opinons. :)
I don't know why people get pissed off about RP. If you don't want to play it, don't play it. RP has less servers STILL than Sandbox (otherwise known as build) servers.
The glory of GMod is you can choose whatever style of play you want. I personally play RP, TTT, Sandbox, Flood, etc. and yet I'm not entirely committed to a single one.
So the OP is mad because people are playing what they want to play and not what he wants to play?

It's actually more like that, I really don't get what you are going on about people leaving sandbox for rp.

Why do you need to build on a public server? In all my years of GMod I've mostly played on a private server with one or two friends at a time.

A public build server is somewhere where you can see what other people are up to in the community, and adjust how you build accordingly. The only way to really grow, for some given value of grow, is to branch out and see what other people do and how they build.
There's a few servers out there that are dedicated to [i]just[/i] cars, [i]just[/i] planes, [i]just[/i] helicopters, and [i]just[/i] tanks. These little cloistered communities shut out other people and ignore building advice, leading to community stagnation.
If all you do with your friends is just staple thrusters to bathtubs, that's cool. However, I find that public servers are a good way to get ideas or improve building stuff.
I thought there was no point to garrys mod...

I think you're attaching a little to much emotion to your games pal, it is just a GAME after all. Let people play it how they want to (it's not like you're stopping them though), they're the ones who bought it.
And really? suggesting that all RP servers being hacked would "help" Garry's mod? some of those servers cost a bit more to run than the ten bucks you shelled out to play this game. (try single-player next time)

The point's been made, we can do whatever we choose to do in Garry's Mod, and nobody can stop us from having that fun, whether it be Sandbox, Roleplay, or otherwise.
I remember one of my steam friends had a coolio server where it was a mix of building, war, and rp. You could build a nice little plane, start a war with some other faction. (factions were constantly being made by the players.) and have coolio names n shit to go with your characters. Wasn't too much rp. But it was a great blend. We need more servers like his.
Sadly, his server is gone now. It died down sometime in March. RIP.
