Okay so listen. The reason there is no constantly good RP from what I have seen, is because there is no motivation. Lets say there is a a system for farming. Your character also needs food and water, which is enforced by the script or your character dies. Now, lets say water needs to be purified, saying it's safe to drink. A farmer can't cook the food, that has to be done by the cook. So, now we have a flow going. Farmer farms the food, cooker cooks the farmed food, you now have food to make your character survive. As for water, someone collects water, someone boils water( or the collector does ). Now you have water to survive. Systems like this, where everyone has a necessary role that is enforced( not optional, it is required for your character to live), you have a constant flow of roleplay because everyone has something to do. Eventually this gets boring. Now you have pests, they're killing crops, food is cut. Another role is needed, someone to design a pesticide. There is lots of roleplay and everyone helps design a pesticide, while maybe fishing is also added to take out farming because of the pests. Pests are created after another week worth of roleplay is developed, farming is now useable again, along with fishing which has been used in the incident. You also now have the creation of scientists, because people will want more pesticides to stop this from happening again. This is an example of a constant flowing roleplay society where everyone needs to do there part in order to survive. Everyone has something to do, everyone needs to do something for the good of the community, thus nothing gets boring, new things always happen. The same thing can be done in a city environment, apocalyptic environment, any environment can be incorporated with this. That's how things should be done. fueled by the bong.
An actual fuel economy would be pretty awesome. Making sure that no fuel what so ever is generated by the game and it all has to be player made or traded from players. Considering it would be something universal and used a lot supply and demand should have a nice effect on it. Real economy in a Garry's Mod gamemode is to die for.
None will be created by the shop unless i do it via the admin menu if people are lazy for days and dont make any, or for an event for example.
For fuel: Government controls fuel plantation/oil well something idk., business owner pays government a large amount of money for a license to pull fuel from it, then sells it to gas stations in bulk, the players buy from gas stations. something like that. So how exactly is this being done, I'm bored I want to code something.
Im doing it all sorry. Everyones offering to script whilst gmod is broken, no one has anything to do. Its a learners project for me, i will be asking for help as i go but not much else.
This actually sounds really interesting, is it going to be a private gamemode?
Not sure at the moment. I plan to start it out private and as i adapt it to make it more user friendly i may release it.
At the End of the day, we all know the answer is weapons. All you need are nice realistic weapons *not to realistic if you know what I mean*. They must not lag. If you have a level system why not put a store in that you can buy differences weapons and level you get. (Sorry about spelling I am trying to be fast because I am busy)

For example, the basis of a gun: You need to distill crude oil to get the plastic. You need the rifled steel which is a bitch to craft. A firing pin which will be the most expensive part of the gun cause it needs to be made in a small silicon mould that will be hard to get your hands on. For example, the basis of a handheld weapon like a knife: You need to distill crude oil to get the plastic You need stainless steel for the bat and the knife blade. Event after you have a weapon you need to get some ammo which is even harder to make cause it needs gunpowder which can be randomly found when mining. So the basis of the weapons are, they take so long and so much effort to get your hands on, the majority of players will not even bother with them. With Weapons - You need rules/gamemode implements to stop players from being idiots. Without Weapons - You need features/minigames to keep players active or it'll become a tunnel gamemode.
Do this, have guns able to get, but melee weapons easier, and things like bows. Also Instead of plastic for rifles use wood.

I may be thinking RPG esque, but their should also be damage, accuracy, and other percentages for quality of material.
I think the ability to sabotage things such as factories and mines could prove quite interesting.

Instead of roleplaying fixing a truck you have a value that degrades the truck until it's unusable and you have to repair it so no-one roleplays fixing it because the script does it all for them. Instead of roleplaying eating and drinking you have a counter that forces you to eat and drink, so the script takes care of that for you aswell. Don't get me wrong, this idea is cool, but it's not really roleplaying since the script does it all for you. This is more like the farming maps for obsidian conflict.

Also guys, ive been working on a little mod today. I'm going to call the gamemode Forge cause you can go into halo3 forge style to spawn your props and base. You request build mode and it strips your weapons and freezes you, 30 seconds later you respawn in bot mode and have the ability to spawn your items.
Mix RPs that will benefit both parties. Such as DarkRP/OfficeRP. That way people can have realistic/professional jobs OR be gangsters/policemen. [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] Also WireMod and PCmod.

Oh god, bringing back memories of a "spider-man" job on a kid's server, almost died crying and laughing when I saw it. He was basically a cop with a spider-man model, and there were other tons of useless jobs. Involving to download tons of files to get in.

Here's an Idea for improving gun ownership and other stuff. GAMEPLAY IDEAS -Crafting system. GUNS -Civilians are limited to pistols and crappy automatics. -Gangsters can steal weapons from the Police armory or some other place. -Police have the best weapons like assault rifles and heavy guns and explosives. EXPLOSIVES -Civilians can not buy explosives. but they can craft Molotovs. -Police have Grenades and breach explosives. -Gangsters can steal explosives. BODY ARMOR -Light armor (reduces damage by 15 percent) -Medium armor (reduces damage by 35 percent) -Heavy armor (reduces damage by 75 percent) -Explosion Proof Armor (prevents explosive damage) only for Police Force. CARS Civilian Cars -Crappy Jalopy -Old Jeep -Automobile -Van Police and SWAT -Police Cruiser -Humvee -Armored Truck
