You still could've saved a bundle of money, and you're still limited by your graphics card. But again, to answer your initial question, yeah, you can run gmod :P I wouldn't go around bragging to your friends though, because you didn't exactly make the world's greatest buy.
Yeah, I know. But its about three times better than my old one, and I haven't even played anything on it yet.
ya im his "jealous" techy friend and "lili' as he calls her is amazing despite some minor drawbacks, graphics, price
The amount of money waste and technology illiteracy in this thread almost makes me want to physically vomit. [editline]01:00AM[/editline] Basically, You don't need an i7, unless you do rendering/heavy compiling, if you need an i7 you wouldn't have to ask if you need one basically. 12GB RAM because more ram makes everything always better :downs: Oh a 1GB GT240 ooo amazingggg. except for the fact that it's a generation behind what I'd consider the current GPU generation, (That NVidia has yet to release) Win7, fine, nothing wrong there. Sound Blaster X-FI, I really doubt you need a sound card as onboard sounds is just as good but whatever. And to top it off it's alienware, which is absolute money rape. In short, for 1700$ you could have built a much better PC. Shame. [editline]01:01AM[/editline] have fun having to replace the gpu in like a few months when you can't play new games on max. [editline]01:01AM[/editline]
I'm tellin you, that goddamn thing will play Crysis on max. I want it. Gimme. :argh:
Crysis is 3 years old dawg. [editline]01:03AM[/editline] Some of the reviews on that their website. Just.... :Dawkins102:
Your computer cannot run even Half-Life 1. I'm sorry... Ok, just joking. Yeah, your computer is really good and you can run almost every game at max with good FPS.
Yeah, the only thing I'm worried about is the graphics and the possiblity of it dying. But If thats the case I'll rebuild it and make it better, I'll just need to get a Alienware motherboard so I can use the lights on the side. Other than that I think I'll like it. Also, I can run Portal on max everything with close to 300-350 FPS.

You have a better computer than me, except for the graphics card, but I guess a GTX 260 vs. a GTS 240 won't be that different. I run GMOD at about 200 fps. Drops down to 100 minimum. So you should run it fast!
:psyduck: Why are you people praising his machine when he has a GTS 240 of all things in it? It's worse than a 9800 GT. Enjoy your bottleneck, lol. It'll play Source games fine, but don't expect to run Crysis very well until you throw at least a GTX 260 or above in there.
As soon as I get back from vacation i'm spending all my money. Most of it will go to other things but I' ll save some for a new graphcs card.
Completely contradicting my previous post, why buy Nvidia 200 series cards now, but just wait until they roll out the 300 series cards with 128-bit GPUs. Yeah.

He's a spoiled brat who is wasting all his money on an over priced PC. He might as well be buying a mac.
I'm getting a new computer and I want to know how high and I can set Gmod and how well it will run. That graphics card is SHIT. You should have at least got a 4890 or a 275
Dude for what you play and are going to play the GT 240 is fine. Get some stuff for your airsoft gun.

Isn't alienware usually overpriced?
Well apparently he plays Crysis fine, because he hasn't complained to me yet.
way to bump an about 3 months old thread.
In case anyone even cares about this thread anymore, he has a Radeon HD 6870 1GB now
