This would be awesome. But then it wouldn't really be Gmod...

Eh personally, if I ever do anything like that myself I'd use this fine beauty.

Actually, yes. Though it'd be more likely an existing game mod.
If you were seriously considering shifting to unity, the feedback from the gmod frontier would be very helpful
It came in!

Just when you thought picture quality couldn't get worse.
Haha, now I want a Frontier Mousepad... :D
50 bucks
Make it 40
Video about SB3 Vs. Frontier? Anyone?
ofc Frontier would RAAAAAAAAPE SB3 even not released, because pictures and videos of Frontier makes me throw SB3, LS3, RD3 etc. to recycle bin.
Btw, are you looking for beta testers? I play Gmod quite a lot, also i have played SB3 for quite long. Also i can be helpfull in trailers or videos.

First off I doubt they are even in Beta stage, secondly they are probably just going to choose the people they want to beta test... I hate it when people ask for stuff like this, it is usually what drives the project to be discontinued :( ...

The fps is 2 times higher then in frontier what are you talking about? Those brown spikes are "user messages".

FPS has nothing to do with lag, FPS can easily be fixed because it's clientside. Look at the red, assuming this was a fair test and there was really nothing going on in the spacebuild gamemode the entities are higher in spacebuild than that of frontier when it has a bunch of entities.
Though I'm not too good with these netgraphs you have to look at all the stats, not just FPS and user messages.

Well this is true.
But
Standard Spacebuild Server with nothing happening.
is not exactly true. I assume this is one of the SpaceAge servers. SpaceAge has a bunch of entities too, teleports and the mining planet with custom entities(selling the mined crystals).
Anyway...
Yes, Frontier is optimized better then Spacebuild.
I like how I don't even have to drop in and answer questions, people do it for me.
Ok, time to tell people what they should be looking at on the net-graph.
:siren: While I was editing, I noticed how this turned into a textwall, so here come the official tags! :siren:
This textwall is brought to you by a grammar nazi, because our grammar is gooder.

What you want to be looking at for server side lag is the Sv. and Var. statistics on the netgraph.
The higher the Sv. the better, and the lower the Var. the better.
As a rule of thumb, if the Var exceeds the initial server Sv. the server is very likely to redbar. (crash)
When you start a map, Sv. will tell you (at the beginning) the total highest server Sv.
Once people start spawning things, it shows you how much more the server can handle, if it hits 0, game over.
Var. is pretty much exactly the opposite.
In any case, if the Var. or Sv. values become red, its BAD!
Oh, also... the Var and Sv values fluctuate quite a bit, so your "real" value is either an average of the current maximum and minimum values, or the highest value displayed.
Finally: The 2 values are based on the server. In SP it will be clientside (since you client is the server), and in MP it is serverside.
The "graph" itself only shows spikes in the server activity, and while they DO affect Sv. and Var, it is minor.
HOWEVER! If you realy want a comparison, I'd ask the frontier devs to redo the netgraph shots WITH Sv. and Var. on it, ie. use net_graph 4.
That is all.
POST EDIT:
Looking at the two shots I noticed that the SB3 image had redbar spikes (times when the Var and Sv are red, its the lowest bar graph in the netgraph),
telling me that its pretty damn likely the server has a lot of unnescesary addons (Take future comparison shots at exactly the same place, on the same map, with nothing spawned, and on the same server ofc).
However I will say that the frontier comparison is quite impressive, with no spikes whatsoever and apparently lots of ents spawned.
As I'm sure you are all firm believers in :science: you should ofc all know that when performing experiments, one should isolate the figures being compared.
That is, eliminate all unwanted variables and differences from the experiment.
Remember the following:
E2:
Ops != lag
Creating somthing is more taxing than changeing somthing.
Net_Graph:
While the shitton of UMs and Ent spikes might look intimidating, they're harmless, its true!
The netgraph shows the change in various functions being called.
ALL netgraph bars can be related to E2 functions somehow.
While I'm at it, I'll post some evidence (Because you know you NEED it).
Default netgraph shot, nothing spawned. This uses SB3 btw. (Sv: 65.7 Var: 1.01)

One of my huge ships, 280 some props while being pasted. Netgraph is showing how the engine is registering the various ents being placed and welded. Sv and Var change (and go yellow, no surprise knowing how taxing a duplication is). (Sv: 13.5 Var: 16.4)

The same ship, fully pasted. Oh look, there isen't much to see on the netgraph! But notice the Sv. and Var. have changed. (Sv: 26.3 Var: 23.44)

Frontier IS more optimised than SB3 at the time of writing, but who are we to blame it on?
-Snake is buisy and is likely to not care much about SB3, so of course it doesen't undergo the fixes and changes it is entitled to.
To top it off, the fact that people find that having too many resources makes it too complicated (in most cases, you don't actually NEED all the resources, they're optional), and you end up with a gamemode that doesen't stick.
-Frontier has a (currently) active collection of devs, and I do hope they keep it that way. On top of this, the new functions being discovered and the increasing performance of coders (as they now need to program for efficiency as one main feature), and you can easily see how Frontier rises to the "omgwtf-this-rapes-SB3-totally" stature.

:downsbravo: You've got brains! Thank you for the proof :)
I think the real killer for SB3 is the way it calculates prop gravity.
Also, you're right James, the two comparisons aren't fair. I just jumped on an empty SB server, took a screenshot, then took a screenshot of a bunch of Frontier entities out at once. Perhaps later I'll install Spacebuild on my dedicated and do proper tests.

SBEP (SpaceBuild Enhancement Project) is just a load of awsome models and entities, and in my opinion has nothing to do with any of this.

No ships being docked to it, and the reason it might look familiar is that I posted an earlier Cruiser sized vessel that looks a bit similar (blame my building style). :ms:
But enough of that, besides being completely offtopic.

I'll tend to agree on your point, and yes, please do if you get the time.
Anyhow, this is the kind of time when I wish GMod had its own engine designed for handleing thousands of props moving on a server simultaneously,
with 32:1 scaled maps so big you could get litterally LOST in them.
The list goes on...
We can dream, can't we? :smithicide:

To be entirely frank you're a dumbass on the facepunch forums most of the time, so it doesn't surprise me at all that you got banned from such an upstanding community.

You never know what could happen with engine switches if the mod ends up decent enough...
Who says it has to stay with gmod forever?
Its really just an issue with how physics are handled diferently between players and props (q-physics, v-physics, and a lot to do with the source engine, as it wasen't designed for being used like this).
Once that hurdle is over, we might be able to expect M-maps (remember that idea?), full 360 player rotation on all 3 axises (with camera movement, shattered horizon style?), and lots more...
Frontier wise, I must admit that what impresses me the most (I'm used to good coding being by default) is the models, they're AMAZINGLY detailed.
Am I right in assuming that the links have several options (such as electric arcs, color and thickness)?
