I'm still hoping for Superllama to pull through on his relative gravity project. It seems that he can make it work with a specialized map entity and some empty room at the moment.

But do you think he'll actually release it? AND make it somewhat easy to implement? :raise:

Well, since I've seen screenshots of zombies rustling around upside-down inside cargo containers and heard Divran give it praise after he tested it, I'd say it's only the rendering-from-inside problem, that can be fixed by allocating map space, that's left.
And since Oficcer was finally banned, I have my hopes up again.

As long as he's permabanned, we can all live out our lives in peace and finally get some progress on the design front
the mechanic is just perfect, love on how you can link everything.
please, do your best for finishing this gamemode, from what i saw in the videos, i just said, "WOW"
anyways, the helmet system just blown my mind.
And since Oficcer was finally banned, I have my hopes up again.
Meh, he was only banned for a day. He'll be back. And he'll probably quote this post.
In other related bits, has the helmet bug been fixed? When I last played around with it, it didn't work on my monitor because I had an odd resolution (it closed down over my head, like it was too big for me).
Developement still going on?
From what I remember, there will be jetpacks.
Deve is still going on, but zinger is still taking up the majority of Jinto's time. I don't know for sure when it will break out of mini-hiatus, but I assure you that it will be worth the wait.
Noting your feelings about welding : Have you tried parenting? If you parent your props to a wire chip which in turn is mounted on a non-parented base plate or prop, you would have a very good set up. This does not apply to sbep as those have entire corridors as one prop, which means that you'll just fall through them if they are parented.
Developement still going on?
I have an idea that should have been implemented since the first spacebuild: ship optimization.
Ships being a laggy bunch of props welded together should be merged into one big collision so that the physics will be calculated only for it and not the fifty props in it.
How will player movement work? Will there be Crysis-like zero gravity movement? Spacebuild suffered from bad player physics, it was hard to be inside a moving ship and not drift through the walls all the time, or move at all. It would be no problem if the players used a zero-gravity movement and when inside or on the surface of the ship hull, the player movements would be related to the ship movements.
It might not be very realistic, but a lot more realistic and confortable compared to the current physics
We have no plans to do anything of the sort. What you describe is not a problem with Spacebuild but is a Source limitation. Having movement similar to a game like Shattered Horizon isn't really possible because you can't rotate player physboxes. As for your model merging idea, I think there's a third party tool that parents props together. That's as good as you're going to get.

Haha, I'm not!!!
Perm me if you want, I'll wait out the three months, and just create(I actually already have) an alt, but not for posting. Just for reading. It's not like I have anything to do, anyways(exept for winning the First Lego League in Klaipeda, learning).
Oh, ContiX, why would I quote a correct post?
And, in a thin chance that I'm not getting perm'd, I'm actually busy for the first time in my life. So it shouldn't make a big difference for you.
And, you should all hope(like I don't), my last words: If you do permaban me, please honor me with the reason "troll". I do love reactions of my classmates when I do "your mom" jokes. Douchebags.

tl;dr

Unless of course we magically get access to the source code and then get a way to implement it. Magically.
Some of these things may be possible if we we're working on our own source mod, but we're still limited to Lua.
I have voted (and always will) that mods like this are better suited to newer engines.
Frankly, Valve stopped giving a shit about the SDK a while ago.

The day someone decides that it's time for SB to go Unreal, I will come rainbows.

Wait, scratch that. I just did.

I do NOT want to see pictures of this. That will be probably the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.

It'll probably look like Robot Unicorn Attack, only slightly wetter.

It should be more like robot dinosaurs that shoot lasers when they roar. Out of curiousity, would anyone be able to tell me how long it takes to charge a beam cannon, provided you have enough energy? I have a pet project in mind and I'm curious about wether it will be feasable or not, once Frontier goes public.
Progress?
No.
Suggestion: Research Projects!
When you start on a new server you can only have Basic Suit and no permission to spawn weapons such as the beam cannon and the HASTE. In order to spawn more LS devices, weapon and have different suit, the player has to run researches to invent those things.
For example: John just joined to szakalt's server and he wants to build a ship with 2 HASTE lasers, so first he builds his ship and fly to the moon base, activate the lifesupport systems there and find the main computer. He downloads some research data bring it home on his portable flash drive and upload the data into the research center. Now John can wear a suit with bigger air tank or a spacesuit with Jet-pack, or stay at the regular suit with basic preferences. His next goal is to go to the abandoned science facility in the asteroid cloud and use the research data from the moon base to invent the HASTE. So he fly there set up a medium sized energy harvester to provide energy to the abandoned science facility and the huge main computer. He has to provide energy for 2 minutes till the computers finish the processing. After 2 minutes John can spawn the HASTE weapon and he earn the "Scientist (or something like that)" title.
Suggestion: Research Projects!
Sounds pretty good, if kept simple
would prevent admins having to stop noobs spawning the biggest weapons as well
Interesting concept, but we probably won't do that.
At least the project doesn't run on black mesa source time or we would be waiting 3 weeks just for someone to tie there shoes.
I'd imagine it would get really annoying to have to do the research every time you join the server, or to load a dupe of yours with the bigger weapons.
The Research Project idea would be a nice for a RolePlay Version of Frontier...
The Research Project idea would be a nice for a RolePlay Version of Frontier...
Ugn, roleplay. I say if someone wants to make a role-play, they can do it themselves.

agreed

Spaceage is a gamemode that uses research, it saves who you are so every time you join you don't have to research again.
Is there any more news on how its progressing so far???
