paste large post here
wouldn't that mean minges can fly away to another server to avoid punishment?
wouldn't that mean minges can fly away to another server to avoid punishment?
It only means that their IP is tracked down and can be banned not only in your server, but even across the network of the servers such system is installed on >;3 I've been assuming the system is set on the server (not the game one, but in the hardware meaning) that belongs to the Frontier comminity. So it's determined which game servers belong to the "universe" network, the "jumps" from server to server (aka from solar system to solar system) are logged, and so on.
Frontier is supposed to simple and pretty somewhat like sb2 before they made sb3 and shut their minds out from the fact sb3 failed terribly pretty hard to find a nice sb2 download
I don't think I ever played SB2 now that I think about it. I played and loved SB1, stopped playing G-Mod for two years, then came back and found SB3 and hated it. [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] Anyone have a link?
nope. unfortunately not.
Frontier is supposed to simple and pretty somewhat like sb2 before they made sb3 and shut their minds out from the fact sb3 failed terribly pretty hard to find a nice sb2 download
Is it some kind of random subject change caturday or something? Well anyway I have to agree with you, SB3 is shitte. Too much of useless stuff. And all that doesn't make it more interesting at all. Learning all those tools and ents is just frustrating.. And by the way I beleive I still have a version of SB2 somewhere on my old HDD. Think I can try to retreive it if you guys need it ^.^
SB2 was broken by the February 2008 update. It still kind of works, but there are many things that won't.
Oh, then forget it.
SB2 was broken by the February 2008 update. It still kind of works, but there are many things that won't.
It was? I played SB2 in September of 09, and there were no problems...
It was? I played SB2 in September of 09, and there were no problems...
Depends on what you try to achieve. I liked using Oilmod because of the powered thrusters, and that addon has suicided completely. The "vanilla" version of SB2 works, with the exception that the engine update made spaceships want to randomly spaz out. I remember when we could still use Hydraulics in space.... Aah, good times...

I clearly remember the Mac (the ship in the SBEP story, actually) having at least 6 hydralics that didn't spaz out...

I did try that myself to no avail, though...
Ever try fixed hydraulics connected to ballsocketed props?
Anyone remember that one user who would take their "lagship" into space, only to have it explode around 5 minutes later due to the cold damage? Or when you are minding your own business, then hear an explosion and seeing the huge energy cloud in space followed by "WHAT THE FUCK!?". Those were the good old days.

WHY DOES EVERYONE USE STARGATES!? The addon is almost as heavy as PHX, and it contains useless junk that nobody uses. The only thing useful in there is the Asgard, and I've already extracted that anyway.
It was a small, dinky version of Stargate; I think I used most of the stuff in it, anyways, except, perhaps, the gates. I preferred flying. But the Asguard and the hoverdrive were fun.

Idea: Leave SB1-SB3 in the past. Start from scratch. Except this time make it... -Simple -No Laggy advance dupe -And Customziable pre-made ships -Example of this would be S-Cars just with ships perhaps. Mainly because Im tired of noob and noobier spawning their doom ships that drop my fps from 200 to 10 when ever I look at the thing. Frontier really has something going here. If they can reduce the amount of non-used stuff, and make it simple they would really succeed. Space build or Any kind of successful space role-play just needs a slim down. Keep to the basics so the servers aren't lag monsters and that will allow people to build what they want without the annoyances of lag. I think focusing on "Surviving" would be an improvement. Every one now in SB just wants to make ships. I think the idea of focusing on bases more then transportation may prove useful. Server wise and player wise. Leave the ships simple and just for transport. If you want doom ships that can blow other people up in multiple galaxies go play EvE-Online. Gmod I dont think can handle the things some of you want it to do in space. Basically: -Drop the ideas of current space build completely.(Replace doom-ships with doom-bases) -Create a new SIMPLE life support system -Keep the requirements and addons to a MINIMUM (reducing player and server lag) -Limit prop and entity use. LESS IS MORE
I.e., basically, Frontier. Frontier is all of that. Simple ships made from vanilla props with a few special custom entities in there. Only air and energy for resources. Limited numbers of those. The last time I tested Frontier, we spammed as many LS devices as we could, and it decreased the framerate to 25. (From 50, with each person having 50+ devices.) Not bad, considering my computer.
why not?
Because the entire addon is poorly coded and lags like nobody's business.
Did you reply just so you could get Page king...
yes. i admit [editline]3rd November 2010[/editline]
Idea: -And Customziable pre-made ships -Example of this would be S-Cars just with ships perhaps. Mainly because Im tired of noob and noobier spawning their doom ships
You sir are stupid! That is a contradiction. I am not even bothering myself to explain why. Read it a few times and you will see.
Any kind of successful space role-play
No! Thank you. we have far enough gmod roleplay stuff. Ps.: Dont you try to act like that these are your ideas, most of your "ideas" were already discussed here. You just kind of tried to put these together, and add some of your stupidity then sell it as yours.
Because the entire addon is poorly coded and lags like nobody's business.
so true. but yet its still fun as hell to use.
especially sneaking up to someone's ship and make a hole in it by using point_hurt of the stargate when it opens X) By the way, any ETA on Frontier release? Could you post the "to do" list, maybe we can bear some of it on our shoulders?
By the way, any ETA on Frontier release? Could you post the "to do" list, maybe we can bear some of it on our shoulders?
When it's done, and as cool as that kind of open help would be, we're trying to keep a specific art and design style for Frontier. As for a to-do list, it just really just isn't worth it this early on. Remember, we're working on it in our free time, we got jobs and college and stuff.
