I love you, i fucking love you.
Rate me optimistic if you please.
Also i believe you mean v4 :3:
why would you advertise the map here? >_< bloody turkey
Who the hell said i was advertising?
Saying that the map he posted is v4(v3 already exists) does not mean i am advertising.
Its OBV your map and by the looks of it you asked him to post it?

That is Lazers map...

meh looks like it to me
Don't be hatin'.
From my perspective, he posted the picture and mentioned a different map because of the similarities between them. probably a source of inspiration... Regardless its a very nice looking map and i'm sure that in any case, patience is your best tool here. jabbing the devs for deets and treats will only make them divert time to telling you off in a nice way and thus slow down production.
in short... you want your mod? SHADDUP
This defines awesome.

awesome: something which excels in some way comparable to the way Frontier excels at being an awesome GMod gamemode

And spelling after finishing it.
Four questions, if I may.
1: I noticed a satellite in the map test, as well as hints towards orbiting. Does planetary gravity have an effect in space?
2: I was also wondering, considering the obvious work put into real-life survivability (spacesuit, etc etc) if explosive decompression is being considered - if not as an overarching part of the game mode, but maybe in certain parts of the map? I can imagine being sucked out of that moon base by the hatch opening without proper procedure taken.
3: Have you done something with the scaling? That map looks bigger than regular source limits.
4: So far, how compatible is it with RP game modes. Potential for someone to code one in?
To the coder-no clue who you are, sorry. About the beam cannon, can you fire multiple cannons at the same time to fire one huge-omfg-deathray/multi-battery bombardment, or do they only fire one at a time, no matter how many you have spawned?
I'm really looking forward to seeing this up and running.
I love game-modes that let us travel through the vastness of space......even if the map size doesn't let us go that far into our dreams...meh.
So yeah, those screens are pornographic.
Cant wait.
Yes, you can fire multiple cannons at the same time. The effects are completely client-side as far as I can tell, and I experienced virtually no lag, even on my piece of crap machine.
BTW, for those of you wondering who I am, I was privileged to beta-test this. No, I won't share anything, wait until they release it. It's still ongoing, and not quite playable yet (For example, the helmet doesn't work properly for me; it closes over my face so far, I can't see out of it.) Just fun to muck around in.
As for the questions by LokiSan (correct me if I'm wrong, DaApocalypse); 1, planned. 2, I have no idea, 3, no, although it is impressively large, and 4, I have no idea, but probably.

That's awesome. One step closer to creating space battleship Yamato! /nerd
Four questions, if I may.
1: I noticed a satellite in the map test, as well as hints towards orbiting. Does planetary gravity have an effect in space?
That satellite was a func_physbox parented to a func_rotating on Earth. Planetary gravity will exist, but making an actual object or ship orbit will be very difficult and will take a lot of trial and error and perhaps some alignment thrusters to get working. Otherwise, your ship/satellite will just be sucked in by the planets gravity well.
It'd be difficult to code this so it worked universally, like on ships and space stations. I could map a system in for the moon base, but I'd never get it right/believable. So probably not, sorry.
3: Have you done something with the scaling? That map looks bigger than regular source limits.
We do not use any form of prop scaling nor will there be any. (At least not in the way it was discussed in the SBEP thread, scaling down everything for more room.) Finishing Frontier seems like a huge task right now as is, and prop scaling is just another huge feature we really don't have time to work with.
4: So far, how compatible is it with RP game modes. Potential for someone to code one in?
I haven't attempted to even get something like that working. I can't see a reason why someone couldn't take the time to code a Frontier-RP, but we certainly aren't doing it and we aren't going to add built-in support for it.
Fuckin' fantastic, guys. Awaiting the release of this eagerly. You know this will cause a whole cascade through the GMod/Spacebuild community? Excelllent work. Side note, however. Are you going to bundle the map with Frontier or is it a Stand-Alone release? This seems to be a HUGE step up from the way Spacebuild/LS works now. Will keep watching you. o.o
The map will be bundled with Frontier, but I'm sure others will make better ones. Bynari, the maker of sb_newworlds or whatever, made a very nice Frontier map.

On a completely unrelated note, your avatar makes me happy.
-snip-
Thanks for the answers, #1 is basic physics so I had assumed it wouldn't be easy to achieve orbit.
Don't get me wrong on #2 #3 or #4 - with #2 the reason I said about it being map based was because I know how much of a bitch it would be to code for player created contraptions. Don't apologise, it was a question not a demand.
#3 Was a wonder, and I was not expecting their to be any scaling. You kinda got a bit defensive there imho.
Reason I asked #4 is because one of the problems with Spacebuild is that its structure more or less kills the normal ways of creating an RP gamemode. I am just hoping this isn't the case =]
I wasn't expecting you to actually code the RP mode for it, so if I indicated that, I apologise.
I get the impression from your answers that you're used to questions actually being demands on Facepunch, I assure you all I am asking is questions, I am not demanding any of these features, or hell not even demanding a release date, just hoping to find out more about the mod.
I'm going to be a pain and ask one more question (sorry): Is there going to be an entity for space walking? And by that I mean an EVA pack. Even if its got a low fuel level to avoid long walks.
Obviously, your mod, your rules. Was just a wonder if an EVA kit was planned, that's all.

Likewise.

Didn't mean to sound defensive, I wasn't at all. As for your roleplay question, you don't really need a fancy script to roleplay. Back in the day (and I think people still do this) people would roleplay in HL2:DM with no script at all.

Yeah we've got something like an EVA kit. There's 2 types currently and they both have advantages and disadvantages.
Oh by the way customization and shit.
i found there server. the name is Apoc's Realm Revision 152/22 and it has a password sadly.
You wouldn't be able to join anyway without the map.
Yeah we've got something like an EVA kit. There's 2 types currently and they both have advantages and disadvantages.
Just the way it should be.
Thankyou guys, will look forward to this in the next year or two.
If you want Frontier now you can take this WORMHOLE TO THE FUTURE.

Except like, it doesn't travel through time.
Awesome!
