You see, here's the dilemma Not having to pay fees to upload work is tempting because I am very poor atm, but I am hesitant because I have no idea who you are and am worried my work will be stolen
Except no one will buy your scripts if it's from an non-reputable site.
Except no one will buy your scripts if it's from an non-reputable site.
You underestimate kids with their moms credit cards.
You underestimate kids with their moms credit cards.
They will still buy from a more reputable site. Look at Coder-Launch for example.
Call me crazy... But are you using WordPress for this? Just that the login page is "wp-login" and what not.

Yup, wordpress is my web dev babby right now. Don't worry, I can still remove the wordpress log-in and make it all go through Steam. Edit: bbpress is the simple wordpress forums I implemented.

There is literally no point trying to create a clone at this point, especially this late - regardless of your features. History shows that the better alternatives generally don't become popular, look at Windows. The primary reason it was so popular was because of it's timing in being introduced to the market, meaning the majority of programs were wrote for it. It's the same with Script Fodder, the majority of the best scripts and paying customers are there, you're wasting your time. While you do offer free developer subscriptions, you need to be realistic. At some point you will need to pay for the website. Making the developer subscriptions free also increases the likelihood of scammers creating accounts and uploading dodgy scripts. You're also using WordPress, which shows that you're not really prepared or capable of handling a commercial site - and makes you look very unprofessional in comparison to Script Fodder or Coder Hire. TLDR. The market you're entering is too small for more than one scripting website, and you have no chance of superseding ScriptFodder - don't waste your time.

If we can't trust you to make a base, then why should we trust your site to buy/sell scripts or jobs?
If we can't trust you to make a base, then why should we trust your site to buy/sell scripts or jobs?
this is a pretty poor argument, lots of large brands/companys use or have used wordpress, there's nothing wrong with it if you know what you're doing - i guess facebook, fortune and best buy are all not to be trusted (well, lets ignore facebook's privacy stuff) this thread just seems like pointless bashing, if it doesn't work it doesn't work, if people wanna risk their scripts then let them, no reason to just bash anyone who's trying to do their own thing

I genuinely don't want any money from this project. All I'm looking to do is spread cheese into the gmod community.

Be it constructive or not. I'm sure plenty of big companies use and trust WP but is that really the best freeware for something like this? Also it's more of a security issue than anything really but then again that's always a concern.
again, if you know what you're doing then I'd say there's much more chance of a custom made site being exploitable compared to an up to date WP installation
We ensure that all of plugins and Wordpress is always updated. Also we have numerous Wordpress security steps in place to garrentee the safety of our members and their scripts.
TLDR. The market you're entering is too small for more than one scripting website, and you have no chance of superseding ScriptFodder - don't waste your time.
Well at least it would have the potential to create more competition in the market?
Still vastly unfinished...
Allow free scripts and I'll upload addons
Allow free scripts and I'll upload addons
Set the price of your new script to $0.00 and it's free. Users will not have to pay to download.
2gud, hendsome mett scarred.
Fixed :D
http://www.coderhigher.com/jobs/coderhigher/zombie-spawn-add/ This is seriously worth money? Great quality control this site has.
http://www.coderhigher.com/jobs/coderhigher/zombie-spawn-add/ This is seriously worth money? Great quality control this site has.
I'm not going to try to control everything everyone posts. Only things non-relevant to the subject or virus/backdoors will be removed. The script may have 0 value to you but a lot more to someone else. CoderHire also had simple scripts and it's the consumer that decides what they will buy or not. Over time when more people post the site will gradually acquire a higher expectation of it's scripts and things like that won't be posted, but for now... there is not really anything I can do because it breaks no rules and it could be useful to some coders.
http://www.coderhigher.com/jobs/coderhigher/zombie-spawn-add/ This is seriously worth money? Great quality control this site has.
are custom huds really worth 4-5 dollars? what about pointshop reskins? because last time i checked, half of the shit on script fodder is exactly that, fodder. but i guess fodder does fit the name well considering the low amount of really innovatve and new scripts on there.
really don't think it should be up to the site owners to accept/deny based on price, and this thread really is almost pointless bashing, I get the critism is fine for them but just constantly saying "look at this bad script, what a bad site, scriptfodder replaced coderhire first" is just kinda silly, i don't even like script selling sites but theres really no reason to constantly dig at the site unless it's actual criticism or points of improvement, people will either waste their money or not buy silly scripts that shouldn't be 2 dollars, and it's up to the consumer so whatever really
Please understand that if you don't like the idea of the site (which you have stated multiple times), then please refrain from posting, I understand your point.
I stated it once, and pointing out that one in specific because it's posting an example from the wiki on how to spawn entities.

What happens when someone uploads a script? Is it automated and put straight up on the website?
