for some reason, the warning about voting more than once is only showing for me, but if you try to vote for two servers and then refresh you'll see that your vote doesn't stay
How are you doing it? Can't imagine it'd be that hard. If you need some help fixing some stuff hit me up I'm decent at PHP.

This uses Javascript though, not PHP.
I have to say, this system is barely better than the current one. Both can be easily corruptible since the bigger communities will ALWAYS triumph over the smaller ones looking to get big because the big communities will reel while the smaller ones will be unable to compete.
In my opinion removing the downvote button would be best, if they honestly had an issue with the server they could post it in the comments instead. Keep the upvote button though.
I did remove the downvote button

I appreciate it, but it's js, not php
May I suggest a random "server of the day"?
Just like the garry server browser, whoever's server has the most up votes will be on the first page.
I can see this going terribly already :v:

Now that most of the shit is sorted you should wipe server ratings to start fresh.
and it's ready for testing! you guys get one vote every 24 hours, so use it wisely! if you do vote on a server, you can still remove/readd your vote during that 24 hours, but other than that, you gotta wait.
I'm also removing all votes and comments, so hopefully that'll get rid of some of the drama that's come up. let me know if you guys have any issues!
He did wipe the stats.

Doesn't matter because people like you will have them spiked again anyways, enjoy your popularity you cunt.
Can we all get back to the point here? (This is why facebook doesn't have a dislike button jesus fuck).
Voting systems are based on human interpretation, therefore, no matter HOW you look at it, they're always going to be biased. People vote for what they want to vote for, hence the idea of a vote in the first place.

Lol that was rude.. Guess I'm doing something right considering how angry everyone here is about me not wasting all my energy crying about how I can't get votes.

I don't even own a community, nor a server, and if I wanted to do so I'd just get a developer position at a well off community. Your implications make me giggle like a school girl.

How am I being an ass.. You guys are the ones talking shit and raging at me for using the website for what it was meant to be used for..

Just because your using the website for its actual Purpose doesn't mean your not being a dick, You perfectly well know that you're being a dick by getting your large player base to bump your servers high enough to where other servers wont or can't compete.
can we try to keep discussion on topic, guys? unless you have a solution to the voting problem, just arguing about it isn't going to get anything done

I've noticed quite a few bugs with the website but I got kind oof lazy/busy and didn't report them,
1: If comments are long enough they will go outside the actual textbox and start going into the server info area
Second: If you vote for the server then hit back on your web browser your vote gets deleted, (I've had this happened numerous times but IDK if it still does it)
Third: All put it when I remember it.
I noticed the comment thing a while ago and fixed it already, I'll look into the second one though, thanks
[editline]8th December 2014[/editline]
the warning should be showing up now, let me know if it still doesn't
[editline]8th December 2014[/editline]
actually, your second bug might have been caused by the warnings not showing up, try to replicate it again
Keep downvotes but requires review to vote. Copy the Steam game reviews system. Write an either positive or negative review, and your vote weight depends on how helpful your review is.
Oh my god please yes.
I will never understand why the gmod community has such trouble being considerate to other people
Money.
I'm on the review train, I think requiring some effort beyond a single click (and perhaps moderating the "I can wear a hat, 11/10" reviews ) would move towards a better environment.
Second note:
With that system, you could easily add filters. If this is to give smaller servers a chance, I'd think the default should be average rating (after a minimum number of votes, a la Steam Workshop), as this would provide a regularly changing selection of top servers. Having other filters, such as most votes, and the previous filters for time periods (24h, 1w, 1m, 1y), also seems like a good idea.
Thoughts?
Just a shot in the dark; remove both? Things like this will never help anything besides people up voting their favourite dorkrp server. Why don't you just make a good sorting system that you can search for gamemodes without having to bother with anything else? Just like legacy but then better looking :v:
That random server of the day on the front page would also help allot for the nieuwer gamemodes/community's
I like the idea of no down votes and limited up votes however maybe there is another form of 'vote' that the users could be less aware of. If they vote without realizing they have voted this would help curb vote manipulation.
Instead of votes give the users the ability too connect to the server on GMOD Prime. Clicking the link will silently 'vote' for the server but all the user sees is their gmod open up and load the server. This takes the 'voting' out of the eyes of the user; but the popular used servers will still gain votes.

Then if this way is employed, then we all now know about it and can abuse it again.
If it doesn't change the position of said server on the list and only acts lile extra information for the user to stare at then i'll agree with you, no otherwise.
Homepage shouldn't be top servers anyway, should be a randomly generated list every time.
Homepage shouldn't be top servers anyway, should be a randomly generated list every time.
That will resolve part of gmods server browsing problem. All servers on this site should have equal and fair coverage on the homepage regardless of rank, and perhaps the ranking system should be removed entirely and upvotes are simply to review a server in a manner that you would lets say review a restaurant on google.
Or when commenting
"Rate this server: [0] [1] ... [10]"
Build a system like that, limit one review per user, ever. Regardless, people are always going to use the server browser(even when/if this site gets popular), so this site should have no real effect on people playing or not playing your server. I look at it as just an ease of access kind of thing, with an additional means of gathering an audience.
