GMOD Prime - An Alternative Server Browser (alpha!)

It was that forsaken servers guy, the one taking over the gmodprime frontpage
maybe make server owner not able to vote I know they can join and (dis)like server but that ould prevent also a bit of the mass downvotings
and some sort of new tab

what kind of community has this many inactive users? signup bots much?
many of the users with posts have no profile at all..
As long as community is able to pump money out of their pockets - these users will always be the most valuable and most important for the community, despite being inactive. :v:
so now you guys don't want any votes at all? you're killing me :v:
what if I made the home page new servers, removed voting, but changed comments into reviews where you can leave either a thumbs up or a thumbs down? the only place those votes would matter would be on the server page, where it would say something like "##% positive reviews." would that work for everyone?
also on the home page I could add featured/picked/random servers, or something like that, cause I do like the idea of showing random servers
Guys, guys, guys
guys listen
i looked at the members list
and this community (forsaken servers)
literally
has over 9000 members who have 0 posts and no activity, who all sign up in waves (hundreds on a single day)
what kind of community has this many inactive users? signup bots much?

I had an ingame registration system when I ran my community, the forum had over 10000 members- with none of them posting, because they got benefits ingame.

That's a great way of going about it in my opinion. That will certainly cut down the issues and the flamewars.
Titles on the listings need to be a bit longer, hard to see what the server is about other than the banner.
And it should be ratings that require user comments, you could moderate the bad ones.
1/5 or thumbs up/down, I'm not sure.
the idea behind the titles in the server cards was that they should just be the name of the server/community and maybe gamemode, the features are supposed to be in the banners
plus each server page gets the title of the actual server, so there's no need to put it in as the name
Perhaps a Reddit like vote system where the longer the server is on the front page the more 'weights' are added. (Kinda hard to explain how the Reddit voting system works but those who use it will understand what I mean)
Should multiple servers really be listed more than once?

good point, I'll add support for that soon
I'm replacing votes and comments with reviews, should I keep it as only one review every 24 hours?

No.
Hmm for multiple servers. Should it be like:
They can only have one server but if you click on the server you can see their related servers? (Just their servers if there are more than one of the same server)
It'd allow for more servers to be shown and allow communities to still show what they have.
Edit: I like Sally's idea better.
A hub to vote for communities. Then you can have it to where upon selecting the community on the ranks a list of its servers appears under it would be better

Yes.
Any chance we can also have communities limited to one server per community? I'd rather not see the front page filled up with that same community again when they return to spam negative reviews of other servers and add positive reviews to theirs across the board. They are already planning to rig the current vote system every 24 hours:

A review of a particular community is what should really matter, rather than an individual server because if one server sucks in a community they generally all do.

This reason enough is plenty to warrant 1 listing per community. Someone seems to have lost the entire point of gmodPrime. Also maybe you could refine searches based on server type, like build servers or RP, or prophunt...etc. Keep it limited to the major gamemodes though because the 7 billion different(but the same) shitty derivatives of dark RP are still RP.

I removed the ability to downvote servers, and reviews won't have any effect on server listing, it'll just be another row on the sidebar on the server page
that's not really rigging, voting every 24 hours is the whole point, and besides, you can only leave one vote on a single server because that's what you guys voted for

you can search by gamemode, but there's no way for me to find out anything about the gamemode other than the name the server uses
I'll try to come up with a way to list multiple servers on one page, because it is something that needs to be done

Fair enough, the 1 page per community thing is a much bigger deal as some people are trying to take advantage of a great idea for selfish gain.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood. Just to clarify, users can only have one total vote per account on any server throughout the site, even after the 24 hour mark? Am I correct in that? If so, then ignore everything I said because that seems very fair.

just pushed the review update, let me know what you guys think
home page is now new servers, servers that already exist will kinda be unsorted because the website thinks they all got added at the same time
already existing comments didn't get removed, they're just considered reviews without a vote

I can favorite my own server, also: 'feedback NaN% positive'
I can favorite my own server, also: 'feedback NaN% positive'
you're quick, I left some dev code in, should be fixed now
There's nothing wrong with being able to vote for a server, it's just that it shouldn't carry as much weight as you give it.
I think it's better to be able to show that you like a server, even if you don't use that score for any sorting.
so is it intended that leaving a review pushes the server to the last page? i just left a positive review on gmtower and it got knocked to the bottom :suicide:
Adding new servers pushes them straight to the bottom, on page 5.
N/A Dec 9 @ 10:41am
Terrible, owner can't mind his own buisness and goes around leaving bad comments on servers he's never even contemplating joining.
Let the drama begin. Again.

this isn't intentional, but also not really a bad thing, since servers get sorted by time and not rating
Adding new servers pushes them straight to the bottom, on page 5.
fixed
The Sort by Players doesn't seem to do anything, plus when a sort is applied the pages disappear and the first page is the only one accessible.
Also, it's just my preference, but I think it would be nice to have the header and the footer remain stationary (as well as the filters on the full list page) so that only the list of servers itself scrolls. Plus being able to load more on the front page by scrolling.
yeah, I'm in the process of fixing up the searching, good idea about the fixed sidebar though

also on mobile you can type in text boxes but no submit button shows up, kinda makes it impossible to post things
