Erm... There are a lot of people on this forum to ruin people's fun. If you read some of the other posts on the forum you see that most of the "anticheat" (for a sandbox game? Ha!) are here. Also more on topic lots of people express outright hatred to darkrp and other game mods on the forums just because their game mode isn't popular.
However I do applaud the original poster for trying to combat the issue of unpopular game modes with a solution - unlike most on here who just say "haha darkrp sucks because I don't enjoy it!!!"
Also I think an alphabetical order of game modes is a great idea would love to see it in the new update :)

The dislike for the popularity of DarkRP isn't because other gamemodes are not popular, but because the gamemode itself truly [I]isn't good[/I]. A lot of us came to this game upwards of ten years ago. We remember better things. We've got the experience to create [I]whatever we want[/I]. We don't because it will go unappreciated. Additionally in combination with this, the rise of free professional game engines is a much more attractive option than garrysmod if all the players care for are glorified-sandbox gun fights.

Well I know lots of people's who's hard work and effort has been ruined by anticheat in the past on gmod. gmod is a sandbox game that allows us to modify it to our needs and if you modify it in a "wrong" way you are banned from that server it very to need help there.
But the thing is the game mode is quite good, otherwise lots of people wouldn't be playing it. Sure it appeals to a younger audience (older people enjoy too though!) but maybe because you've been on gmod 10 years ago maybe you just don't like the changes around this place?
I own different DarkRP servers in different nations and they are successful and we get lots of players, people are friendly and nice and we allow people to use their own script if they want.

I think the reason most DarkRP server owners use DarkRP, because its an easy money maker. Just look at it, you can have VIP Jobs, VIP Entities etc, It's hard to include that into other game modes.

The reason most of the DarkRP population is so big is because it jumps in front of the other game modes on the server browser. They don't even know about the other indie game modes. Go try it, ask a bunch of DarkRP players and ask them if they have heard of Pirate ship wars.
DarkRP is a game about pretending you're not in a restricted version of sandbox that allows constant bullets to the skull. It attracts children who don't want any sort of challenge, who only want drama instead of inventive gameplay. That doesn't mean it is a good gamemode. That's like saying the latest shitty kids cartoon movie is good just because it gets tickets sold.

I own more than one darkrp server and I certainly don't think that way. I run them for fun and for people to enjoy. I think the issue here is that you are quite old so you might see kids playing and get mad....

Also I want to say I Respect you because you are civil only at we disagree with opinion :) And that's Ok :) Ok well you said that it's about drama and not intensive game play? Well darkrp was never meant to be some very intensive gamemode, I liked it's old name better "lightrp" remember that? because that is what it is - light. I'm not denying that, it's just that because it's not very "serious" people seem to get angry but here to thing. When you get home from school or work and you can just casually play some darkrp with a few friends, build a base - mug some people do some fun Rp :) harder to do on let's say hl2rp with no action or shootings just walking around.
However I do agree more gamemode are needed. Darkrp is a gamemode that you play hard core for a few months then you feel for a few other months play something new and then you go back to Darkrp

When I come home from school/work, I usually play some counter-strike or something to ease off the stress. Playing DarkRP is just like going back into the real world again when I'm trying to leave it.

I really doubt that in the real world you print money, buy guns from a guy on the street and hire hitmen. Anyway, this was said in another thread, but DarkRP has some really stupid mechanics that should really be changed, and with the right addons, you can get a DarkRP server that administrates itself.

We dont [B]really[/B] need more gamemodes, we need less servers running some random FNAF Pony spinoff of DarkRP and more players trying to do original stuff.
Whats the point of a roleplay gamemode that the main thing players do is build bases, farm money, raid and mug people with jobs like Payday Raider? That is not even roleplaying, it's basewars with gundealers.
The argument of it being "light" is just helping prove that it needs over 9000 rules and 10+ admins online just to maintain the server running without any player issues. DarkRP does nothing to preserve the roleplaying environment.
Look at Half Life 2 roleplaying servers, the gamemode is made for roleplaying, and it at least succeeds in that.
Install greasemonkey, then add this as a userscript, it'll make your life a lot easier.

No-where near as bad as you expect it to be really, any donations give you a lifetime rank, there's not a lot much you get over normal users, as you imagine every community has to have some way to pay the bills. Either way I'll open source the end product of whatever that we're going to make
You can run a server on a VPS for twenty dollars a month. Mine costs six, but would run into physics CPU issues.
Lets just ddos all of the darkrp servers off of the top of the list and force players into new gamemodes. :v::v::v:

Of course there can be good servers, but that's not what we find most of the time we go on the server browser. We just find a spam of the same servers with shitty things and VIP/Admin to buy.
I have found a Roleplay server called Clonewars Serious RP by AfterShock gaming, and it really surprised me because they have good admins, good players and the gamemode/roleplay flow administration is just fantastic, you can progress through combat/medic/etc training done by real players that have better rank than you, you can join battalions, war in events against the Droids, etc... It's really fun if you like slow progressing and real player-on-player roleplaying interactions.
So I join a server with the mindset of attempting to have fun and then I look at the tool list.

Your lucky to have the stacker, some servers I've been on blocked it since you can crash servers with it.
DarkRP has definitely gotten worse over the years, It was never great but now it's mostly children about 8 years old on to copycat the epic le troles they saw on youtube or something. I did deeply enjoy playing it on my server with my team of salty motherfuckers who were out to keep shit interesting
One of my staff members and also dear friend and I played SS13 a great deal, which also has its shitlers, but has a much more robust administration suite, so we made some inhouse admin stuff to follow in that direction like:
Job bans - Not like the ultrashitty FAdmin one, actually adds users to a database and bans them either for a set time or permanently from the job by making it disappear entirely from job selection and chat commands
OOC Toggle - Literally shuts off OOC like in SS13 when shitlers start arguing about their anime pony furry bullshit or using it as long range global chat for ingame shit. Admins could still use it.
Advert ban - got tired of seeing [ADVERT] KIDNAP PULL OUT KEYS NOW OR DIE NO CHAT NO VOICE and people evading OOC being muted
Weapon ban - You get restricted to only using keys, pocket, and camera. You cannot pick up weapons or ammo. Like using strip on that one annoying kid who farms money and then buys a million AK shipments and using !strip kinda encourages them to just suicide and go get more guns
Baby - Player turns into the doll prop and is entirely muted from voicechat and text chat. Attempts to text chat would cause a baby crying sound to emit from the model locally. Players can walk up to the baby doll and use it to spank it down the street with a really satisfying slap sound
Moneybomb - Turns the player into a money texture with a green laser trail. Killing the player literally makes them explode into a pile of money entities taken from their wallet, determined by a percentage variable in the chat command. Excellent for redistributing the wealth from moneyfarmers and such.
ADMIN TO ME - saying this over ulx or in ooc would literally just drop the message and detonate you on the spot
We also had a spaceman job that literally hooked the DECTalk function that Moonbase Alpha used and turned anything they said into text-to-speech. Full support for tones and markup like on MBA. They also had lowgrav jumps and access to a sweet moonrover vehicle
We totally replaced the arrest batons with a newer streamlined and safeguarded taser type weapon that incorporated both batons while making arrest less of a crapshoot than chasing people unarmed down the street and trying to hug them while they shoot at you, making cops substantially more effective and playable, also had built in anti-abuse and shit that helped police shilters outside of job/weaponbans
It was fun but nobody joined when we switched to eastcoast and our recruiter literally did everything but recruit and make steam announcements, so the server died
I'd consider relaunching if we had a reliable way to resume the playerbase. We have zero interest in making money off of the server, so VIP BUY ADMIN DONATION JOBS ETC ETC would be totally zero, it'd all have to do with playtime, earning respected and trusted roles for superficial but bonus entertaining stuff like potentially abusable tools, cosmetic items, gun skins and such. It's a trifle with my job to pay for a fairly high end dedicated server so donations wouldn't be necessary at all

I just want 2 say on the behalf of me and server watch this isn't trolling..
Serverwatch is no DOUBT a personality on gmod /gmod forums no one is questioning that.... and of course he can be a little "weird" and "off centre" but you know...
its entertaining and he's original. and if it makes you shake your fist and froth at the mouth then at least we are feeling alive! he says it like it is and he touches on on a lot of things we "think" about but dare not say.... He for one is a good friend of mine and even though sometimes makes no sense, has good intentions and isn't a malicious character at all.
