You are acting like he is some oracle or prophet who is enlightening us. Really all he did was ramble on about things nobody cared about and didn't take the hint that nobody cared. He can't function here and its for the best he got banned.

If he insulted/trolled ppl send me a link to proof.... I'm sure he's not like that man... (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of serverwatch" - postal))
I think I was the first person to respond to serverwatch. He made a post about how he was going to judge servers and such by using "methods". He mentioned methods all throughout his nearly incoherent post. Ignoring the grammatical errors, I asked a simple question: What methods are you using to determine whether or not a server is worth going to? And you know what he responds with? He responds with this: "So you agree with my methods?" I'm not sure if it went down exactly that way because it was months ago and I can't even think of what the thread name was, but it isn't hard to come to the conclusion that someone like that isn't right in the head when they come to the conclusion that you agree with their methods when you ask them what their methods are. That and his appallingly informal posting style. I swear he posted in a strange way to piss people off. Most of his posts came off as condescending while at the same time trying not to explode in anger like a kid getting killed too many time in a row in Halo. Wouldn't surprise me if he was a troll, but he came off as too off-the-wall. If someone could find me serverwatch's first post, that'd be great.
serverwatch is really just Minteh Fresh trolling us all.
inb4 another alt

I find it hard to believe servers still aren't disabling sv_allowupload/download :/ Guess people don't care that their gamemode can be stolen anymore.... [editline]17th May 2015[/editline]
I think you guys are being too hard on DarkRP. Yeah, there are a ton of servers, mostly administrated by faggoty little kids, and mostly retarded, politically correct rules. ABSOLUTELY NO HATE SPEECH OR RACISM - 99% of DarkRP ruleboards. But every once in a while, you find a good server with reasonable rules, cool addons (like this one where you grew weed, and sold it on the weed market, which had fluctuating prices.) and good admins. Hard to believe but there are a few, just have to swim through all the shit... PERP was better though.... RIP PERP :'(
Perp is still alive though??? It's just been renamed GTA Online..
Download file '%s' ignored. File uploads are disabled!\n
I'm also fairly certain that downloading is patched as well.

What are some good Gamemodes to get into these days? I occasionally play PropHunt or murder - my favourite things to do are setup a server with friends and force everyone to play murder in the construct dark room or combine it with a CS:S Smash map. We play the odd bit of DarkRP for silly fun but it can get stale.
Extreme Football Throwdown. By the way, I'm working on the server browser, the inner workings of it to restore seeing all servers instead of limited to your location. I also wanted to change the user functionality of it, I especially like the idea of sorting by alphabet at least as an option. I also want to remove the gray out on empty gamemodes. I'm willing to listen to ideas if they're not extreme like banning darkrp from the list.
Organize Gamemodes like OTT suggested?
hey that was my original idea. A self moderated server list would be a better idea imo, the top genres would be listed (~30+ of them would fit on the screen?) sorted alphabetically or by players, whatever. Ideally the servers would have a tag for genre, just like it does for workshop ID at the moment.

We go by the name "Foobaw" because "Extreme Football Throwdown" is too awkward to say in sentences.

QOL things like being able to sort by name, sort by ping, get rid of gray outs on empty gamemodes, rework the "rating" system, etc.
What's wrong with a whitelisted tag setup? Gamemodes use approved category tags, or get thrown into an "other" tag.
What's wrong with a whitelisted tag setup? Gamemodes use approved category tags, or get thrown into an "other" tag.
Effort to maintain, arbitrary conditions as to when a new gamemode is popular enough to get its own category.
What maintenance? What conditions? I meant that you can pre-decide a few generic categories, and never add new ones. "RP", "PVP", "Build", etc, "Other" Each category containing what we see now; a list of specific gamemode titles, under which are the servers. If too many different gamemodes similar to each other appeared in other, you might then decide to make a category that fits it. Individual developers would be incentivized to use the tags or any rare new tags in order to stand out better.

Now you're lumping rare truly serious and character/story driven rp servers in with ■■■♡♡♡NEW SUPER DOWNTOWNGANGRP DONOR ADMIN POINTSHOP♡♡♡■■■ under the rp category.
As opposed to being lumped together already, along with every other possible gamemode? How does that make it worse?
As opposed to being lumped together already, along with every other possible gamemode? How does that make it worse?
Because right now I can sort it by number of servers. The thing about ~special snowflake~ renamed darkrps is there tends to be only one of each ascii disaster.
What stops you from doing both? A-Z listing of tags ending with Other at the bottom, each containing gamemodes ranked by server numbers. [editline]19th May 2015[/editline] anyway I expect we'd have jerkoffs calling themselves PVP-RP and Build-RP, so it won't work anyway

What if instead of introducing a whitelist or genres, we have a way to hide/unhide specific gamemodes from the list for our own client? With that in-mind, Garry's Mod should add measures to prevent and combat abuse/misuse (such as those who create fake servers to put their renamed-gamemode at the top of the list).
...get rid of gray outs on empty gamemodes...
This would be neat, even if it were a toggleable option.
