Yeah that's what I'm trying to get at all this time. People say I'm "too serious" but in reality it's them. You are being too cynical. The gmod communtiy that was given is not "cancerous"...
It's better to be happy and just look on the bright side of things. Yes there is bad in gmod but theres also good.

It's not bad to know "big server men," just like it's not bad to know politicians. Sure, there are corrupt people in the GMod community who are just in it for the money or fame: welcome to the real world. But that doesn't drag the names of their associates, friends, or acquaintances through the mud as well. Not every politician is corrupt, just how every community manager or ScriptFodder developer isn't either. Some people work very hard on their projects -- spending months or years in some cases, and are allowed to do whatever they please with that work. That does not make it corrupt in the slightest.

It just seems too big... Like every time one of these people (big server people) join PK they try to do the following things
Troll
Act funny
Try to cause arguments
Ruining propkill on purpose
It's not nice. And I really don't see how it should be like "the real world" since it's just a game. When people see it as just a game instead of a business/big thing it will all be better.
And most of the people who they are friends with share the same philosophy/belief. I will admit not all obviously. But lots of them do. They are mostly pro-scriptfodder, pro-antidarkrp and other similar things.
I really make it a thing not to look down upon people, I don't think these people are evil - just misguided.
Sure I haven't worded my posts in the best way but I'm trying to get across there is some sort of network going on here. It's been creeping me out for months... :/
But I work hard on things to but you know what I do. I put them on pastebin and another wbpage for others to learn and utilize not to try to sell it. If you are proud of something the first thing you think is to show others not to want to sell it off for money. It's not some sort of business - it's just a computer game that is supposed to revolve around community helping maintain it.

Treat them like a normal player. The GMod community takes people of all ages, maturity levels, and experience. Developers or server owners are just normal players who also know how to program or run a server; they still act the same and derive the same fun as an average player in a community setting. Treat them no differently, and don't act like they should be held on a pedestal of higher standard. They will represent their own community and work as they please.
Also, the "game" or virtual world are just real people behind keyboards; it draws a lot of parallels to the real world. Anything that can be capitalised upon is a business.

I'm sorry if you thought I was mocking you. I was. I honestly agree with a lot of the things you've said, there just isn't much we can do to change it. At the end of the day we'll still be a bunch of greedy fucks. Writing these long, idealist forum posts doesn't get us anywhere. I believe in being realistic. The best I can do is try to set an example by open sourcing code I want to share, hosting good servers without shitty admins and rules, and giving tools back to the community to stop it from being such a pile of shit. No I don't believe in aliens or the paranormal. Also making it out ot be some big joke is a good way to invalidate someones findings. Some people have disagreed with the opinion part of it which is fine, but no one has disagreed that they are all friends and go in the same steam groups and all have the same opinions alongside other things.

Honestly the dev/hosting community for gmod isn't THAT big. It's not that uncommon for knowaguy-knowaguy situations. It's perfectly normal if someone knows an admin from somewhere else.
