Like I've stated my opinion on this sort of thing soo many times before that I really apologize for repeating myself here but if you're against making money off selling stuff, you should either try and make a difference by releasing free stuff/creating learning resources for others or keep your thoughts to yourself because no matter your view on this, it isn't something that is going to stop any time soon
It's a bit like a cycle - people are willing to buy this stuff (there's that really shitty coder whose made like $2000+ off darkrp scripts and I'll be honest I am jealous of him), general garry's mod players don't seem to mind if servers have the same stuff (in fact, I think some like familiarity bc otherwise they wouldn't be so popular), and server owners aren't going to care about the opinions of facepunch users because you probably weren't going to play on their server anyway
You can say 'people should be making stuff for the community' all you want, and you could well be right but at some point you've gotta face the reality of Gmod's current state - you can either work with it or against it
Also somewhere I saw 'I'm okay with server owners receiving donations, but coders shouldn't sell scripts', could someone explain their side further? Kinda confused because I've done both and while owning is stressful, coding scripts is a lot more time consuming and requires more skill

As the developer of DarkRP, how do you think [I]I[/I] fit in here? I'm genuinely curious. I've seen posts of yours in which you admire me, but I also have these Lua coders in my friends list.
I'll freely admit that someone I know from Facepunch and/or knows Lua has a much higher chance of getting in my friends list than anyone else. The reason for that is that I've seen those people before, and I know what I can expect of them. I assume all other invites to be from people who broke their DarkRP servers and are too god damn stupid to find the forums. They get rejected by default.
That steam friend policy gets me where I am now: loads of Facepunchers on it.

Larger servers require time investments that compare to an actual job, let alone the hundreds of dollars it cost every month for hosting so it wouldn't even be sustainable without donations.
Selling scripts however typically just enables stupid server owners for the most part, some cool stuff does get made because of it though I guess.
That being said I both sell scripts and own a server.

The first thought I had was to come to the Garry's Mod Coder chat room to scrape information from one of these people; yet no one was responding to me. I was hoping I was wrong, but I believe I was right...
I believed that Willox was one of them too
I then went to look at the group admin's profile, 'Willox', to see what I could find.
The first thing I realized when I followed his profile link is that he is a huge member of this site. He has never had any bans and is friends with Handsome Matt. This made me very suspcious about what he was doing leading a chat room with more than 30 unique members a day on average for Garry's Mod related talk. Another big thing was this:

Look again, at the bottom. My suspicions were right. He was one of them.
This is their cess pool of a group, for profiting and liquidating money off of innocent children in Garry's Mod.

Another thing I noticed was a discussion thread in their group profile, depicting FPTje as being an ex-member who refuted against them because he would not make DarkRP a good profiting gamemode. It also mentioned that they were discrediting DarkRP as a good gamemode because of this, and this was another way to get money from selling addons at ScriptFodder.
