Not being able to find addons. Which is dead.
Ask around, I bet some hoarder somewhere ***Karbine*** has them
This thread is mainly to get off your chest what you find most annoying in garry's mod, no matter of gamemode. I'll begin: I hate the fact that in TTT, when i'm a Traitor, an innocent gets shot by another person and then i get accused for that. Now it's your turn.
Dying in Zombie Survival as a human.
Dying in Zombie Survival as a human.
Imo, dying as a human in ZS is only ever annoying if it's the fault of another player or something dumb like getting stuck on a prop Otherwise it's like ah fair enough and I'll just shrug it off

The fact that spacebuild is sort of dead.. Man I miss that gamemode. It was so fun to fly around and battle other people in the ''1337speehsship'' you made. (And you did it for the emprah!) But then gmod 13 came. And the kids came. And then it died... Just like most other gamemodes.
Servers that use motdgd. Especially server that use it when you die too, so you're constantly watching ads.
Servers that use motdgd. Especially server that use it when you die too, so you're constantly watching ads.
I just crash servers that spam ads in my face when i join, maybe they'll eventually take the hint (but probably not)
Servers that use motdgd. Like, there's that one UK based Zombie Survival one that's always full and I just think 'why would you actively support this behavior'

The ads could (potentially) upgrade their server & keep costs at a minimal. We aren't trying to spend our hard earned money to pay for a decent dedi when we can just throw ads up and let that pay for it. The internet is a tool for making money, imo. edit: besides motdgd's plugin is broken. The way I've noticed this community is, they aren't gonna bother fixing it(even if the fix is as easy as removing some \ and putting some ' ' ) cause chances are they're too stupid and using ONLY scriptfodder stuff anyway.

It's why I use Ad Block Plus religiously, why I have it turned up to 11 with absolutely no exceptions in it. It's a security thing. Any Gmod server that would attempt to violate the security of my machine by running ads is a server that can go fuck itself in the deepest fires of hell. And yes, before you start foaming at the mouth and spazzing, I'm well aware that the server owner isn't actively trying to host malicious ads on their server. Doesn't mean they won't do so by accident, advertisers cannot be trusted and legit websites have had malicious ads slipped under their nose before. No reason that couldn't happen to an ad supported server either.

This is probably one of the most stupid posts I've ever read on this forum. Popular gmod servers have ads, they also have a lot of servers in their network, know why? Because of the ads. Please, tell me more about how users are trying to send malicious content through these legitimate sites. Then I'll shut up, remove ads from all of my servers and start paying out of my own pocket. That's as dumb as saying google adsense will send malicious content.. It just personally drives me insane
Personally, I've been thinking of a method of allowing users to remove video ads completely for their stay at my servers, without donating to me or my servers. One idea was to allow users with X amount of hours of playtime in my network and from there it would just become banner ads they would view for a few seconds. Note that none of my ads stop ingame playtime, but just annoy even myself with their obnoxious Christmas songs. Something like this could improve overall user experience without hurting income.
One of the admin from noxiousnet voiced a complaint a long time ago to clocktown gaming that some of the advertisements that show lead to malware. Their response was along the lines of "Well, you can pay the $2XX bill a month so that we don't have to show ads." They cannot support themselves. The players are too young and can't donate money. Their response to the problem came a few months later where they made it so the ad didn't show, but you still heard it. And they play multiple ads at once so you hear the same ad overlapping itself 3-4 times. I wouldn't be surprised if they were making a profit off of it.

I understand some companies allow us to have ads based on specific hooks, but multiple ads at once is a big "fuck you" to the ad providers. Typically, they require us to view the ad for a certain amount of time before it becomes valid, if they aren't seeing the ad that's invalid traffic and can be banned from the service. Figure out who their provider is and send in reports, problem solved. Ads should be about supporting the development and overall growth of the server, not a get rich quick scheme. Of course, there are servers that would naturally generate enough traffic to allow the owner to profit off of it, but if I were in their shoes, I'd start paying my staff.

In fact I explicitly said they weren't trying to force malware out, but that it happens anyway from time to time because the ad companies can't be trusted. It has happened time and again, including with Google's own ad service. Ads are a security risk and it's one users can easily protect themselves from. And I do. And I advocate anyone else to do so as well.

Unless a service provider can prove to me that they have 100% control over the security of the server hosting their ads I won't let them host ads on my machine. I'm quite strict about it. I know it sounds harsh, but I'm just not willing to risk having to reinstall Windows and redownload 400 gigabytes of Steam games on a 200KB/s internet connection over half a penny's worth of ad revenue. It's just not a risk I'm willing to take. And there isn't really much that the innocent service providers, who obviously don't want to serve their users malware(I'm reiterating this a third time to make it crystal fucking clear), can do to minimize that risk when even the most trustworthy of ad hosts will from time to time be attacked and end up serving malware unwittingly. I'm sorry if you don't like that but that's how it is.
I'm using ads on my French server, nobody seems to really care about it and they're all happy to come in my server. I'm not really paying my server, a friend of mines does so, and I eventually help him a little bit with funding it. But atleast I do some other stuff than buying the shit outta ScriptFodder's Database. Plus this is just a Murder server and the ad only appears on connect.
Lol, either way, it shouldn't be much an issue, seeing as the odds of you getting infected through garrys mod ads are slim to none. Can almost promise you, you'll be seeing GSPs coming up with free hosting for their ingame ads being in their servers. It depends, last month I got 27.73 dolla, and the month before I got like $13. That is not the topic anyway.
