I'm like, 3/4ths of the way to getting that. I've only got like, 6200+ hours (seems like alot but compared to other's it's not.) too. IIRC I've got a few people on my steam list with over 10k hours which is more than enough.

Not really remove worthy. I do agree that the "Meet Garry" achievement is a bit eh... Impossible to get.

I've been managing a server with a British friend of mine for a couple years now, and it was previously managed by one of our admins for a few years before that. We have never advertised and we do just fine.

You don't need to advertise if your server has good content. Example, 2nd day of running my server, peaked at 28 players, used 3 sf addons, and I wrote the rest.

I was just a maintenance worker in BMRP when some security guard randomly arrested me and put me into jail. When I asked what was going on, he insulted me as ''scum'' and its colorful variants such as ''scummy scum'' etc., so yeah, either powertripping or he had snorted a can of paint.
Anyway, when he had gone some other guard had come over and freed me. Took a screenshot of the chat, reported on the forums and never played there ever since.
It is incredibly satisfying when you report someone and the next post in report thread is somewhere along the lines of ''We've banned him, thank you for informing''.

I don't feel all servers with scriptfodder addons are bad, It's just the overwhelming amount they use that are needless or poorly made. There are plenty of healthy good addons on scriptfodder.
The RPhone is very fun, So are his printers so I don't mind anything made by Dan and a few others.

I don't feel its DarkRP's fault hundreds of people make terrible servers, Certainly it's not on FPTJE. It's on the server owners he made the gamemode that's modular and easy to utilize and have fun with.

If you guys don't support horrible/poorly made servers simply don't play on them.

since gmod 13 and coderhire gmod has been about 1/10th of the fun it was to me back in 2009/2010, i couldnt put it into words but that sort of thing really has dropped the overall quality of what's available to play

There's certainly quantity over quality, There's plenty of roleplaying servers staying original and doing neat things.

d3vine is doing some really neat organization banners and some other stuff.
It's up to you to find really good servers not darkrp :P

It's certainly not coderhires fault either. Sure it made access easier but people were selling scripts and addons before coderhire.
You know how many people were getting ripped off after spending tons of money before coderhire? It wasn't just the buyer getting ripped off either.

Coderhire just made a secure way to do it for everyone.

I dunno, people complain about how gmod is now, but I was scrolling back 3-4 years back in the Addons/Releases forum to look for old stuff to fix up or mess around with and there's just as much garbage there too

maybe im blinded but how much fun i had on perp/ocrp/gmr and stuff like that + i was pretty into tnb's terminator roleplay too which was super unique, if i look for something to play now theres just nothing that makes me want to actually get involved and join a server/community anymore

A few years ago the complaints about DarkRP were that every server was pretty much the same, running either the default HUD and F4 menu or one of the three alternatives. Servers had different custom jobs, but the jobs were always the same hitman, police and gangster jobs. That's changed with CoderHire and ScriptFodder, but complaints remain because of the quality of the custom scripts.

DarkRP has a "love to hate" reputation, and I'm absolutely fine with that. I accept the criticism that DarkRP and the servers running it get. That said, this hate should not be enforced by moderators. DarkRP server adverts being banned by default sends out a VERY clear message that there cannot possibly be any good DarkRP servers.

Admins and moderators should ideally be unbiased in their work. They can hate whatever they like, but they should not force that hate on everyone who uses the forum. A much better policy would be to ban users who make terrible advert threads, which can exist for servers running ANY gamemode. That would only be fair, and it would reach the same if not better results.

It might not actually be that users fault they are starting to make bots doing this and alot of people are getting wrecked by it so it's becoming a bigger annoyance then it was before.

And why does this bother you, considering it's in it's own seperate forum for advertisements? Why go to it if you don't enjoy it? It's a powerful tool for server owners to explain their server to other people and try to convince them to join.
