while it doesn't speak for everyone and people might get mad at me saying this but eitherway, i bet if you sampled people who use stuff like "xD :3 ^_^" against an equally sized, equally random group of people who don't, the smiley-using group would have lower average age or intelligence (probably one or the other, not both)
not that i get triggered or anytihng when other people use a face, but it was something i did when i was like 13 and grew out of, stuff like ":) :/ :(" tends to be fine most of the time, it's the type above that i dislike

what's "good"? i was planning to put up a pretty-much vanilla (maybe a few small tweaks/addons, but probably mostly vanilla) TTT server but I'm put off by the idea no one would play because it doesn't have muh exploding jihads and 50 different models for donators

Just add some of the good ttt weapons (jihad, a silenced sniper, golden gun, ext) and don't go overboard with the weapons or models and it's good enough for me to join.
Just put weapons that actually have a "strong" gameplay purpose, such as a tripmine.
Avoid all the "silenced sniper" "+50dmg rifle" stuff.
