I really wish new lua coders or server owners would stop being afraid to try things and need their hands held constantly
We could try things if we knew what the things to be tried are, do we? Not everybody has a programming background or whatever else, yes I get it there's a huge wiki with all kinds of lua shit but new ppl can't come up with creative ways to do stuff and may need guiding. I for one barely know where lua files need to go :/
I for one barely know where lua files need to go :/
And that's why there are countless tutorials about this out there.

Yeah, I totally get that but people should learn that it's alright to mess up sometimes

I agree with you but I feel the main reason people are afraid is because of facepunchs' attitude towards certain kinds of people. This thread alone sorta shows what im talking about because in a sense this thread has turned into x person is stupid let me post something about them and mock them.
Caring what facepunch thinks about you
your doing it wrong
The lack the of creative game modes. (Ex: Team Play / custom versions of ZS / fort wars / sasilization)

I think I might be able to do that by now. [sp]Though I'd probably get stuck at more advanced stuff.[/sp]

Shhh Go back to working on Fortwars :P
Developing/Managing a DarkRP Server, You might as well get cancer and die
Loading screen music. No I don't want to hear your obnoxious dubstep loop at full volume whilst I download all your servers shit.

Are you fucking shitting me? This is at least 70% of the reason I'm abandoning the damn thing.
The worst part is that someone else already made 2 FNaF packs.

Ideas guys
See it as a compliment. They like your work and they want more.
When you're done seeing it as a compliment you can continue calling them cunts etc.
Disable workshop comments or just ignore them.
I ignore my workshop comments mostly. I'll glance over them, and I don't do anything with them unless something really important is said.

These are the 12 yold squeakers that don't give two shits and a fuck about who made it, how etc they just want stupid fnaf shit cause that's what the latest screaming youtuber plays. Also, sorry about rating you dumb, shit doesn't have a mobile theme and icons are small af and next to the reply button :/
SeriousRP.
I know there's a massive hate circlejerk against it on here, but it seems like it truly is done for at this point. Kinda depressing-- it had some good ideas, even if the execution was often a bit off.

That's the thing that annoys me the most. "Ideas guys" as Exho put it. They see that you know how to code and immediately expect that you can make whatever pops into their little heads, no matter how difficult it might be to code. They have no respect for how difficult coding can be and no respect for what you might be working on at the moment or what your life is like, they expect you to drop everything and code their Scripted Entity Freddy Fazbear Mech Suit with Rocket Launchers, Twin Chainguns, and an Automatic Peanut Smasher.
I think it's honestly a bi-product of the time we're living in. There's so much crazy shit being made that it's easy to assume someone with a shred of knowledge can make anything when in reality, there's always limitations. I mean, look at some of the suggestions I've gotten:

Do people just not think about what they ask us to make? Do any of them ever just kind of sit down, look at what they request and think "gee, this doesn't really seem feasible"?
Hey, at least those ideas are coherent and somewhat thought out. I have to decipher most of mine, and I usually have this mental image of a child shouting broken phrases at me.
Example:

In mostly unrelated news, I've reached an important milestone in my quest to collect invites...

I find it annoying how the devs remove me on steam.

Wow I think the max I've gotten is like 40. Its a mixture of happiness to read all the comments and cause your addon got popular but also fear because workshop
I always felt like the old wiki had more tutorials in it than the current one, the latter feels more of a reference manual than anything.

The old wiki is still up. it just has outdated information, but all of the documentation and tutorials are still there

Not many people know about that tho.

It pretty much comes up everytime you do a search related to glua

Wow, I thought it was bad when I hit 70 one month.
I am so late, but the 781563126512632 FNAF related addons in the workshop just stop me filtering through to good content.
why was it when I was scenebuilding with a friend on a listen server I was randomly connected to a fucking dark RP server?
fuck man that gets me mad, lost a really complex scene :(
Doesn't really seem like you can turn it off anymore either? Most of the time I don't see the option to in the mixer anymore.
You should be able to mute it by changing the volume for the awesomium core process in the mixer.
that's what im saying. i dont see it in there most of the time now
Are you sure its not just hidden at the end? Try making the mixer window bigger.

The new developer wave is in, now I'm happy to have new coders in the community, sometimes we get excellent people out of it like exho, and we've all been new at one stage. But a lot of these guys are trying to help people in the developer section and have little to no idea to what they are doing, and makes the situation worse and more confusing by telling them to do things. I appreciate what they are doing, they are trying to help, but I remember when I started, I always had GMod open when I was helping someone and ran my code and checked everything to make sure it was all good, and I understand that it can be hard when your new, you don't know a lot of things about GMod, same thing happened when I was a noob, I didn't get much things and was oftently receiveing dumbs. I remember really wanting to help people, so I can understand why they do it. It just pisses me off, its like 12ies, I was a fag 12ie once, but not anymore and now I hate them.
These new coders often tell someone wrong information and confuses people who are asking for help.
tldr; new wave of coders who don't know what they are doing, trying to helping people and saying stupid stuff.
Oh and welcome new developers if you're reading this! You can always PM me if you need help or want clarification on something
