Fucking amen, there actually used to be a really long time that cannons balls went through parented props, and props with collisons disabled.
I know shit about coding, but if you can't even get the base of your game mode right, then you fucked it up.
The server is also a huge ass lag fest, because people weld up absolutely everything with turbo constraint, so spazzing boats with large amount of constraints are a common sight.
I absolutely adore the idea of some naval warfare game mode, that's not restricted by silly rules, and restrictive tools.
I couldn't even undo my parenting in that server because they use a serious dated multiparent, so if you dun fucked up you gotta respawn it and do it all over again.
There is just too much wrong with navalplay, might as well throw it out of the window and just start from scratch.
Being one of those people who would do kidnappings, I used to stick by general codes of conduct. I'd ask if the other person wished to engage in RP before starting the hostage situation, id let it play out for a max of 10 minutes, and clearly provide a viable means of escape (no powergaming).
What would piss me off is when people either A: Refused to co-operate by pulling out an M249 from the void between their crotch, B: Killed themselves in their cell to get out, or C: Just wouldn't play along with the scenario... it shat me up the wall.
After we implemented a swep that simulated being tied and dragged, with a balanced means of escape and capture, we also added a rule that if you suicided or left the server to avoid RP interactions, you could be faced with bans of up to a week.
The ban list had never been more full.
You can always make some kind of maze/parkour to get out from the cell, that way the victim can do something instead of just staying still.
But who does kidnapping anymore? No one gives you anything for kidnapping someone, you'll just get mass raided by NLR-Breaker cops until you die or get arrested by some guy who just ran towards you with the arrest stick like nothing.

Its basically sandbox with some shit slapped on, the only thing you can do is fight others, gather oil and thats it.
In order to be able to other shit, like being a pirate you have to donate, which I wouldn't suggest you do, its not even worth it since the only thing you get is 25 extra props and the pirate non sense.
Just burn your money, then you get at least some value for it.
This didn't necessarily make anyone mad, but I figure it still belongs here. We just had a guy join the Garry's Mod Coders chat and demand us to help him. I think he was under the impression that we were the developers of Gmod.

Our server used to wanted people when they'd advertise raids/kidnaps/etc
