I really hate when people come onto a server I am playing on and just spam loud memes & just mic spam in general. Always have like 3 people muted in servers at ALL TIMES!!!

When people suggest me Workshop addons for "Fixes" or "changes." :v

When some admins ban on DarkRP when even the slightest rule is broken.

I can't stand the amount of kids on the workshop they spam ragdoll dupes and spew copypasta everywhere. When they aren't doing that they are complaining that a propprotection addon stops them from grabbing peoples props or adding popular addon makers with the reason "ur wurkshop adon iz cool s0 ur my freind naw"

Personal rant which isnt necessarily the fault of gmod, but starting a playerbase on gmod is the most difficult and mood ruining parts of running a server. It especially hurts when you create your own gamemode or modify an existing gamemode with your own code (and not only just relying on existing workshop addons/paid addons) And this description fits where i am. I wonder how many server owners with creativity and actual capabilities to code scripts and gamemodes ended up closing just due to lack of players and a hit to their confidence. Im definitely one of those who is so ready to press the big red button to close my stuff even if i worked awhile on them. I guess some of the reason why its so hard to start now is because of the huge amount of servers and the (somewhat) stupid gmod server list. I've also had to come to accept that Darkrp is just what most players on gmod want even if i dont agree on it, but i just dont know if i could be desperate enough to try to make a unique darkrp server. I really dont like darkrp so it be sad to me to open and work on a gamemode i dislike.

Even if you did make a decent DarkRP server it would be flooded out by groups that have 12 servers or "Lenny meme face dank RP [FREE VIP|ROBLUX|TDM|FAS|CANCER]" I wanted to make a server but I changed my mind thankfully before I got into it because I figured it would waste my time and money.

I should probably rephrase as darkrp itself isnt bad. i have to remind myself that the playerbase is more the issue than the gamemode

There's a very specific reason that I disable downloads when joining new servers, and that's to case them out and see if they're a dog turd wrapped in more dog turds or if it's actually decent. And if it turns out to be liquified pig shit I can just bail out without having to sacrifice my storage space to the server's twenty gigabytes of random crap that has no need to be on a TTT server. What pisses me off is when I see a box at the bottom of the screen while the Soviet National Anthem is blaring in my ear-holes saying that it's somehow downloading a CS:GO knife pack. No, you fuckwit. I disabled downloads for a reason. If I wanted to install your Minecraft Anime ERP models I would've hopped onto loverslab and gouged my eyes out with a fork. While we're on the topic of downloads, why is it that I join a server, see "downloading maps ph_venator_greenmangamingedit_v4_pointfive.bsp" and then suddenly get kicked out of the loading screen telling me that I'm missing the map?

It does when done right. Galaxy type servers usually do a great job at being faithful to the franchise and gives alot of freedom.

Server with an excessive amount of Lua errors. Console spammed so hard that I find my FPS dropping from the average 14 frames per second. Please fix your errors, sometimes I'd like to actually see the console and not a message about your custom weapons base failing at being a custom weapons bass.

I would have to say game updates that break many add-ons and then no one will help fix them including the ones that made them because they no longer have a developer subscription lol

the virtually infinite number of DarkRP spinoffs that push every other gamemode to the bottom of the server browser. If every RP server was grouped together in one tab, maybe other gamemodes would have a fighting chance

One thing that people don't understand is that "vanilla" and "no downloads" are objectively false when the very first thing I see is an automatic downloader of some type on the right side of the screen while some song from "Lil Uzi" or whatever the fuck his name is tries to molest my left ear, only to be shot in the head by someone with a flaming swastika orbiting their head while I frantically try and close out. Doesn't "vanilla" typically mean that you WON'T have to deal with any "custom" bullshit?

One thing that kinda irks me about TTT is the blanket ban on propkilling on most servers. Before I get murdered for sounding like Serverwatch, hear me out. Innocents and detectives propkilling other innocents I can understand. But traitors doing it, or innocents doing that to proven traitors? Traitors don't get ANY evidence whatsoever tying them to the corpse, and the innocents can get a hell of a laugh out of the fact that they just lobbed an explosive barrel at light-speed and sent their corpse flying into the ocean. Ignoring either tactical advantages or humorous killing methods, it's just flat out fun. If you're fucking around as one of the last two alive, why NOT try and make things at least somewhat lighthearted by seeing who's corpse gets sent careening into a wall like an unsecured bumper-car?

Literally the only way you can have no downloads is to have a stock server. You MIGHT be able to get away with using the phrase too if you only have either server side shit like ULX or if whatever addons you have are only just scripts / lua files with no extra content.

Not really, GMod comes with a lot of models that you can use to your advantage. My server is basically no downloads, just a few materials stream as you are in the game, and it's doing pretty well.

The fact that almost every server you join has you somehow downloading 250 playermodel addons with shitty music playing in the background during the whole process.

That first sentence doesn't make any sense given what I said at all given that I was literally saying that in order to claim "no downloads!" you'd have to run stock... Also known as making due with the default models.
