That's not why he removed them; any competent server owner knows how to restrict tools using an admin mod/lua.
I really hate the amount of YouTubers who dictate what should be considered good material (gamemodes) on Garry's Mod through their videos, and their followers.

When kids try to lecture me on the use of /me's in a PERP/OC ripoff server (I know, I know, sometimes I just want to feel nostalgic. Leave me alone :( ). Of course they have been playing for maybe a few months, whereas I was there when we had the big issue over assgunning, and know the true reason for using /me's. It usually goes something like this:
them- "ZOMG, U DIDN'T /ME!"
me- "I was in another room, so it doesn't matter"
them- "YEAH, U SUPPOSED TO /ME TAKING OUT A GUN!"
me- "If I am in front of you, where the lack of a playermodel's physical motions make the gun to appear out of thin air, then yes, I do need to. If I am in a room where there are plenty of places to grab a gun from, then no, I do not."
them- "YES U DO! UR ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO /ME!"
The community has gotten younger and logical thinking skills have gone out of the window apparently. It's why I no longer play.
Hate how most most major communities I see use GMod as a business, along with Youtubers that spam videos with little originality (VenturianClitoris).

It just annoys me that people are supposed to play a game with an insane amount of written rules when most of these rules could be implemented as game mechanics. I'd rather the game make it so I can't mess up instead of having to remember 100 different rules and get banned if I mess one up. Actually, I'm more amazed at the amount of people that want to play a game like that than I am annoyed.
People who ask for shit-tier addons like SCars and WAC while the server has ACF installed.
SCars sure as hell beat TDMcars. TDM cars look awesome but you can't even drive them normally.

Maybe go to a server that is actually configured as a server? With limits and maybe an admin.
I'm an operator on a roleplay server (don't hate), and I freaking hate it when people argue against rules exceptions that are clearly explained on the forums of the website and admins themselves.
For example, the OTA. Supersoldiers by the standards of the human military, versus a single malnourished (read: stick thin, not getting better any time soon) citizen. It's clearly explained in the OTA information page on the forums that, to an extent, we can powergame when dealing with citizens (for example, we don't need to wait 30 minutes for someone to react to an attempt; and by react I mean /me ninja dodge)
Queue 8 minute whine session of some stereotypically black character bitching in local OOC about how an OTA needs to attempt to shove a citizen into a corner when said OTA was standing in the citizen's blind spot and logically would be too fast and too strong for the citizen to react.
Said citizen returns 20 minutes later, spraying bullets in the street and gets mowed down. GG.
I have 1k hours in gmod and still don't understand what Roleplay is, or DarkRP, CityRP or whatver.
How come there is so much bitching about the rules? I mean can't you just configurate everthing you need with an admin mod or does this only work if you know everyone that plays it so people don't "break the rules" or however that goes in that gamemode.
Like you complain about getting shot. So killing is not allowed on the server or only in certain situations? Why don't the server admins disable weapons for new players (guests/users)???
This all just sounds like a nightmare to manage if you are a server owner tbh
Personally I hate people who ask for ranks the most. Especially if they are just new. Looks like they only care about a title in front of the name, but have no idea how it works.
Well Ramme, we have something in RP called "RDM" or Random Deathmatch. Now in theory, RDM is only meant to apply when you decide to Brevik and slaughter everyone in your sight, but in practice it's a totally different story. In practice, RDM is known as the "everyone bitch for the admin, when something doesn't go their way" rule.
Shoot me outside my house? RDM.
Shoot a player who is walking down the road? RDM.
Someone brandish a firearm against you, and you shot them, but they didn't shoot you? RDM.
If it makes your imagination go wild, RDM is equivalent to the United State's Stand Your Ground laws. If you can forge a good reason, and it looks about right, you can do whatever the fuck you want really, but if someone manages to bullshit their way just a little better then you can, you'll get banned.
When in DarkRP i demote a guy that RDM me then he screams like a little bitch and RDM me 5 times in a row, then i demote him again and then he call an admin and he RDM right infront of me, tell the admin to ban me cause i'm a little shit, boom 5431 minutes ban.
Swearing, RDMing and other stuff like that also being bannable.
I'm really waiting to get unbanned, they got Precision tool (if you know what i mean... precision_rotation over 9 thousands)

if you aren't friends with the admin, if you aren't a donator or if you aren't an admin you can't kill anything that moves

So why don't RP servers just disable weapons and spawning objects from new players or players who aren't police or ban people from killing? It strives to be a 'Murica Simulator if I understand correctly. So killing an innocent player would mean death sentence (or in game more than just 1 minute jail) right?
Then you will have a more clean server and only the idiots or mingebacks get killed and kicked/banned right?
Or why doesn't this work out in RP online?
Damn this gamemode sounds so weird to me. I once played it but I always got kicked for building a base or small house somewhere
The fact that I just recently encountered a propkill hack as a mod on a server, just makes my day hella of a lot worse.
3 players banned, $1,000 refunded, owner contacted and having to find a way to prevent this.
P.S: The hell do I have to do to prevent a propkill hack?

A lot of the worst players on the server I frequent are regulars who skirt the lines of the rules but never cross far enough to get permabanned.

Because you need incentive to play the gamemode, and without incentive the gamemode will fail like several other gamemodes that fail to follow up and give incentive
Incentive exists within economics, but most servers are concerned with creating VIP systems so that they can make money, and for the most part, economics doesn't work in gamemodes that have player-driven economies.
Questions that annoy me a lot, as a server owner:
"How do I add this server to my favorites?"
"Why is everything black and pink?"
"Can we play the minecraft map thing?"
Also, kiddies that are annoying because they ruin the voicechat but I can't ban them, because they didn't do something bad, and can't gag them because they don't spam or scream or whatever, but if you have like 4 of them on the server, it's like 1 one of them spamming/screaming voice chat ugh.

Somebody really should code an anti RDM system that makes it so players that are minding their own buisiness can't be harmed. However if you steal stuff, pull out a gun, get warranted by the police or do anything else remotely naughty you lose your invincibility and are fair game for any cops/mafias/etc that have a grudge on you. Of course you would need to code a lot of situational checks to make sure people aren't exploiting the system and it would need a bunch of extra fluff like a /gtfo command for shopkeepers so if somebody is being shady in your shop you can tell them to get lost and if they don't leave within say 15 seconds they lose their RDM shield. On second thoughts looking at the wall of text I just pooped out I can see that coding the above would probably be a massive headache.

I can see how you would get that impression from meeting your average shit-tier kid with basic physgun knowledge and a few copied prop binds but fighting a truly competent propkiller in a duel is one of the most skill intensive things gmod has to offer

Kids on mic are a slippery slope... Shouldn't torture or ban them just because of their voice especially if they're not doing a single thing wrong, that's pretty mean.
But God so many of them, their voices grate at my ears.. But it's not their fault.

Just no.
Every Time you would need to implement such a system you know you have done something horribly wrong the design of your game.
Fix your gamedesign, fix the causation of such problems, don't restrict the player if you don't have to. At the end of the day that's what makes games great, being not restricted.

I don't know if it's just ones I've encountered, but I feel a lot of kids either repeat themselves of word things in a way that means they're talking for as long as possible!

That and an accurate version of that script would require a script that reads people's minds. How else are you going to detect RP behaviour accurately? The best you could do is heuristics, which can be exploited by minges, making them godded while they minge the lot.
Example: stealing is detected by gravgun pickup of items they don't own. Solution: steal by pushing with physgun, they'll remain godded while they're doing it.
Just make GMStrandedRP.
That's all you have to do to stop people from acting like idiots.
"ADMIN TO ME"
Whenever I kill a theif who tried to break into my home or shank me in defense.

I was thinking about that, maybe make it so when you select empty hands you become godded after 10 seconds or so so when people want to be left alone they can just run around empty handed, though that would of course encourage people to just stand around gawking rather than participate in RP
