Like I said before, I agree with you. It just seems to be popping up in excess lately is my point.
I know what you mean. Something else that's always annoyed me, is when people say they are 'coding' when they are editing config files. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not a good coder lol so it's not a pride thing, this used to annoy me even before I coded, and I still can't do much lol.
i hate people in the gmod community that plaster their profile with shit like 'I know LUA and C++/Csharp/Java' yet if you ask for help for a decently complicated problem they are clueless. the best filter for these type of people is just ask them to loop through a table. literally 9/10 times people don't know how to do it.

(Yes, people do that...)
save that shit for a portfolio imho
Money as an incentive for judging anyone differently or faster isn't fair. What's with the "examinations"? Back when I was a moderator for ExiledServers people weren't "examined" or given "trial" periods. The owner had to have a pretty good hunch that someone was going to be a good moderator and would just do it one day. If they messed up they would be demodded and have a much higher chance of being permabanned. (It has happened before.) If you're giving someone you don't trust moderator and have to evaluate their performance you're doing something terribly wrong.

At the end of the day, Dark RP is too full of crap players to just sit around and wait for good moderators. I don't know how many times I have to say it, I know some people are against the ideas, but I've ran the donating for TRIAL moderator on 3 servers, one ONCE have I ever had a problem with a moderator, our other admins caught him out straight away, and banned him before any more harm was done. You know why we don't get shit though? Because someone that has just donated £10 for a trial is going to try and not screw it up. A lot of the time younger players (14-15) don't get a chance at moderating, however, on our Tekkit server two of our 14 year old players donated and have done an excellent job. They are now my two most trusted SA's, (16-17 now) I understand it's not ideal, in a perfect world I could pick and choose and everyone would be perfect, however this way gives more people a chance, as well as making sure they've got a small incentive to try and do a good job. Obviously once they have done their month and apply for admin they don't need to pay anymore. I have to continue to disagree with you saying it's the wrong way to do things, as I've found time after time it works better then most people think it does. It's just my opinion, through experience. + As I said above, Dark RP is hard enough to manage anyway. We have enough Administrators to monitor the trial moderators, so there ins't a problem with it. Moderators only get access to ban, kick, mute. They can not teleport around, they can not no clip, they can't teleport people to them or move others props. They are quite limited. Just like in our Minecraft servers trial moderators can not roll back players stuff. The ban list is moderated and when a moderator bans they usually have already spoken to an SA or Admin through Steam etc. It really does work, I have too much experience in using it that I will never say it doesn't work. [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] Damn, I repeated myself a few times :D I would have edited but Facepunch just shows a blank edit window :) [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] Money as an incentive for judging anyone differently or faster isn't fair. This isn't a case of fairness though, as I said in a previous post, if someone is loyal to the server, is helping out anyway and is polite, we'd offer them the trial moderator for free, the donation is just a way to let other people help out who may otherwise be unnoticed (eg US players, who we would not be around to see )

Finding it in someones list of things they can do is like finding a knife in your chest. On a side note, "netcode" is another word that is getting on my nerves. Especially when casually tossed around, like Battlefield kids crying about how "this netcode is shit!"
The amount of people that can't seem to follow rules and all of the 10 year old winers.
The amount of sheer shit on the workshop
The amount of sheer shit on the workshop
I just wish there was something that hid server content packs from the default search Like, take a look at any category, whether it be gamemode or maps or anything and half of the results will be taken up my server content packs which is obnoxious when trying to find addons or neat little extras
When you use a PAC thats small enough that your hitbox is smaller than your body, and then admins ban you for using a small pac and then run around killing people with their own tiny pacs
that moment your friend tells you he should be a dev for your server as he knows how to program "cs:s" yet wont provide examples also that moment you post on a forum with a low ammount of knowledge on a subject and feel it may result badly so feel you should make another remark on something else that moment you realize a old community you played was mostly your friends and they followed you to a server you made in less than 2hrs and its more stable then later down the line you get a lua/html coder and he makes it even better adding administration tools you always wanted like being able to ban someone by name even after they disconnect so you dont have to search for there steam id owners of servers that cause issues themselves that make you unable to use adv dupe 2 quite a bit causing a you to rejoin and pray that your whatever is still there "too many entities to spawn ghosts" its just nerve racking last one when you get kiddies from a old server that promptly crash your server due to workshop dupes being disabled and they cry that they want the workshop drone one more sorry the workshop drones that one guy built using a tut and uploaded without thinking that people would possibly use it to proppush large objects due to its massive weight over 50,000 the people who upload it adding one thing and upon talking to them they state they made it and that the others stole it even though they cant even find its e2 or state whats e2 i swear no one even knows where it is i do and i took one look at it for f's sake man its right there

Every server ever made that isn't vanilla.
Although, if you're already hosting a gmod server, you might also be interesting in expanding So that idea is either really silly or actually very clever
I don't care lol. In all games ( happened a lot in Minecraft plugins ), the console / logs are not for advertising. Full stop. Multiple lines with ASCII art to spell out the plugins name is bad enough! I pay for my server out of donations, if people are kind enough to donate, otherwise it's out of my own money.
Tried to play TTT after a loooong pause. Tried to join 3 servers then just gave up after solid fucking 15 minutes of the join-window downloading garbage from Workshop and the server.

That usually narrows things down than all the stupid 'custom' servers that people run

When a server makes you download shit it never uses Like holy crap am I downloading from the asmin add on stash
Servers that got 40 megabytes of models that only 5-10 people can use. Infact any server that forces you to download stuff you wont be able to use.
Servers that got 40 megabytes of models that only 5-10 people can use. As the person who pays for and runs the server, I'd rather have nothing for myself, faster download times and all that lol.
lobsterbuild is mainly coded by my lua dev who is a fucking genius as far as fixing shit goes also ulx is one major frickin issue its died way to much now we have a diff addon and my lua dev has added things that i would have loved to have at scalar spawn protection on a timer that goes away if you shoot were working on noclip kill prevention and we got a anti spam also did i mention hes swedish and one frickin awesome coder the guy fixes everything hes to competent makes me look underperforming in comparison on topic tho ulx pisses me off to no end with its constant issues on my server it killed all the ranks multiple times
