After saying I was qualified and that other people wanted me to be an admin, he still went on about how I donated. A minute later I banned him, and the reason was a link to my approved admin application. Update: I just found him on a random server I went on.[/QUOTE] Why the fuck not? If there was some kind of gang vs. police war breaking out in real life, there would probably be some people that want to help out the cops.

DarkRP is about the players' creativity. Forcing people to play a certain way is stupid and limits the players' creativity. Now some of the things that guy said were uncalled for, but if some guy wants to help out a faction that he's not part of, then let him. It's just how he wants to play.

When I spend hours making a stable contraption using the wheel tool and use the duplicator on it. The dupe just flops to the ground and usually spazzes out when the original works fine. Is the wheel tool the problem or the duplicator? Anyone know which tools generally do not work with duplication?

And no, our server is not terrible. ( of course, people can think that ) But this is darkrp. Darkrp has rules. If darkrp didn't have rules, people would have the absolute worst time. Might as well go to deathmatch.

Roleplay deals with it. (You know in real life you don't get "banned" from life for killing loads of people, you get arrested or in some cases killed - if your cops would do their job, there would be no mass "rdm"s) the only thing you have to do is keep OOC clean from racists and ban hackers. Fucking great isn't it? Everyone can have unlimited fun and you can have more fun because you have to deal with less whiny kids that are like "He wasn't allowed to kill me because he didn't advertise him breaking my into house to steal some printers" "But he got a gun from a gun dealer that only works with their faction although factions can't have gun dealers working for them" "but"..insert rule that makes no sense here

The staff right now is talking about changing rules; I might suggest some of this stuff.

The reason being is that Mass Death Match is applicable in cases of "troll raids" while Random Death Match is applicable in cases of individuals, and may be used by corrupt admins/players.

I never got into RP on Garrysmod because of the typical amount of crazy rules restricting you from doing anything so I played The Specialists instead. What I liked about The Specialists the most was the rules (in most cases) 1. Don't metagame 2. Don't powergame 3. Don't DM END.

That and rp cops are often shit at their jobs and will gun people down rather than arrest them allowing them to come back 30 seconds later and continue deathmatching. I generally get around this by only banning people that are blatantly mass murdering people for no reason and even then their bans are usually quite short. I've seen quite a few people come back after copping a couple of 2 hour bans and start playing properly. Tldr: You need a good balance of freedom and control: too much freedom and nobody can do any roleplay cos they are too busy being killed every 60 seconds or so, too much control and you end up with a totalitarian shithole where nobody can have any fun.

They can still get lethal weapons from the police armory but only if the mayor/chief has authorized it.

When certain ragdolls resists the ragdoll mover tool. We moved on from the physic gun because of that tool for Pete's sake.

The problem is really local to Garry's Mod as a whole, not just TTT.

All this talk about DarkRP reminds me why it started. I believe it was started to be lighthearted and fun, and somewhat rules free. Then server admins turned it into the vile shit it is now. Or was it, it started as a parody of rp servers, and over time because of server admins, the parody became actuality.
