Traitor buddies who think that getting one innocent kill with a knife is enough to pull their weight.
People who think RDM in TTT only applies to killing innocents.

Edit: His name is Jeff the killer, everything about this guy screams 12 year old.

I always thought RDMing a traitor was a lot worse, because who gives a fuck if you lose an innocent round?

"Doesn't matter, it was a traitor." - The excuse used by all of them.
Servers who have "VIP" features that give an advantage over others. My rule has always been, if the VIP store isn't cosmetics and visuals only, then you're doing something wrong. Not only is it bad sportsmanship, it's also a quick way to scare off people who can't/won't donate.

I do most of the time since I know who the traitor is and I like being able to kill them myself rather then call them out.
I wish there were more classic zombie survival servers, since it gets dull having to hole up inside a barricade for half an hour while the rest of the eggheads in said barricade hasn't bought an arsenal crate.
Seriously, fuck the arsenal crates.
This right here. I've been trying to find a working copy of the original ZS, but I can't. If I could get a working copy, I would put up a server in a heartbeat. No barricading, no supply crates, none of that extra stuff. Just buy a gun and a lot of ammo and try to survive the waves. If I could get that, I would put up a server in a heartbeat....

It's a tricky situation. On one hand, I believe there should never be an aspect of the core game mode who's availability depends solely on VIP. For example: In PE, the SWAT class and pysgun were only available to V.I.P. To me, that was wrong. The Physgun should have been something you could purchase in game (for a high price) and S.W.A.T. should have been attainable through a large playtime requirement (like 3-4 weeks in game playtime). That way, you wouldn't need VIP to fully enjoy the game mode, but those who donate can still get something useful out of it.
Also, many people will buy someone VIP in exchange for in game money/credits/whatever. This has gone on for as long as I can remember. It seems to work pretty well, there just needs to be a system implemented where a player can "purchase" a ticket with in-game credits/money/whatever, so all the person who's donating has to do is go on their forum profile and "redeem" it by donating for them. This cuts out the need for an admin middle man.
But it's a hard balance. You don't want donators to have so many benefits that they have a large advantage which would diminish the experience of non-donors, but if you don't give enough of a perk, the incentive to donate isn't there, and lack of funding could lead to hardships for the server owner and possibly cause the sever to have to shut down. It's definitely a complicated situation....
Think this is the right place. Well not really but, eh. So I'm starting my own server, and I really wish to avoid what happens here to happen in mine. Here's what I got so far.
Rules
1. No RDMing.
2. Never RDM a traitor. If you never saw them do anything, or if they never did anything, the RDM counts as an innocent RDM. "Doesn't matter, it was a traitor." is never an excuse. We have logs, we can tell.
3. Playing with exploding barrels is not KOSable, it is however Darwin's Law.
4. Admins and Mods are never above the law. If they break a TTT rule or a server rule, call them out on it.
5. Common Sense rule. If it's not here, use your common sense. If you do not have any, a swift boot to the butt will make you have some. Repeatedly breaking this rule will only add more rules.
6. Have fun.
Any suggestions? And yes, I made a snippy comment. I honestly think trails are stupid, especially in TTT, as they can hang your ass real easy. But people complain if they're not there, so why not paint targets on VIPs that want to?

If there's incentives, then it shouldn't be called donating. Most "donation" money doesn't even go to running the server, it just goes straight into the owner's pocket.
Am I the only one who doesn't really see that as a problem? Like, as long as the server itself is stable and not under threat to go down any week because the bills haven't been paid, then I don't really mind, to be honest
What annoys me in Gmod at the moment are the flood servers - using copied code, full of screaming adolescents that didn't get enough attention from their parents so they have to blabble repeatedly on the microphone to feel confirmation that everyone is giving them attention, while the players with the most money are buying the extremely powerful weapons (that are priced way too high or are too powerful) and as a result, none of the newbie boat builders can ever defeat them - or they hack their money to minus 2 billion or go outside the map and shoot the survivors from up underneath.
Flood gamemode used to be good - the current set of players is ruining that.

I still join and play it - in the hope that ONE day I might win - also, it is interesting to see in what way I'm going to get beaten by a cheater /this/ time... I normally end up ragequitting though.

true.

Maybe try developing on a listen server next time?
Maybe try developing on a listen server next time?
Yes, I've done that for a while. I started a week ago on this host to get some testers and haven't backed it up since I started on it. It is still annoying to have a non-reliable host.

Add the fucking workshop collection to the server download. You know why? People don't want 100 playermodels on their single player because they needed to download them manual through there steam client which gives all the addons to themselves just to not see error models.
Just extra all the models and whatever you have there, compress them and add it to your FastDL server.
Add the fucking workshop collection to the server download.
I did. Just that I don't know if Gmod ever fixed the shit it pulled when on disconnect it'd delete whatever it downloaded.
Almost every ZS server except for a select few discriminate where a human can kill a zombie and then slap a rule on it. If you don't want humans to spawnkill zombies, then make the zombies indestructible in the gas or give them a ridiculous buff while in the gas.

I have no idea how you would actually implement no spawn killing in Zombie Survival without it being based on personal judgement and really inconsistent. Especially when humans have guns! Is it spawn killing if they shoot zombies in spawn but from a cade 50 meters away?

1 and 2 are redundant. If someone says "It's a traitor so it's fine!" multiple times just give them the boot as they aren't useful to have on your server.
Player models for TTT I disagree with, along with player colors, there's a reason everybody looks exactly the same in vanilla.

1 and 2 may be redundant, but it pretty much answers the no excuses.

I know the point for TTT is for everyone to look the same. But people like hats and trails and whatnot. Me, I don't mind a hat or playermodel, but I really despise trails for TTT. Besides, when I said Exclusive Playermodels, I meant there are some that only they can use, not all custom ones are locked out.

I always assumed if you made too many false reports you did get banned. That's not the case?
I'm tired of trying to join a server for a specific gamemode, then being forced to download thousands of playermodels. Nobody even uses them anyway, and yet I'm sitting there for five minutes waiting for all of these useless Arkham City models to finish downloading.

But you can? Rules are if you false report someone or something enough you will get banned.
