I just wish more gamemodes had taken off in the last year or so, instead of basically JUST Murder and to some extent Prop Hunt. If you enjoy them that's cool, but variety is also nice.
The server browser. It's bullcrap.
Should just make the legacy the default or find a better system for the current one cause it's not working.
It would be nice if the Legacy browser had some more filters (Filter gamemode for example), and if sv_tags was returned.

That's something that makes me mad about DarkRP, not RP at all, i mean, if there's no mayor, that doesn't mean you can just fucking run around mugging, stealing and shooting people without beign arrested because "There's no mayor". THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU A COP IF YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING!

Pretty sure most servers have default laws though
People that don't buy HL2 Episodes 1-2/CS:S and buy Garry's Mod, and go to the Steam Workshop and say "What game is this from?" This also stems out into people not reading the description, in which it clearly states the game it is from.
I hate how gangsters and thiefs always vote no when somebody wants to be a police officer in DarkRP. If the server has a LOT of crime, more than likely it's going to stay.

If the mayor didn't say you can't mug someone in an alley whilst holding a 1911 with only 3 bullets left and your health is at 69 and your playermodel is kleiner and it's midday... then we can't arrest that gentleman. We'll just watch.. and kill anyone that steps near the police door even though there's nothing in there because WE DON'T ARREST PEOPLE.

This. This happens all the time, when i was an admin on a DarkRP server i threathened to ban everyone who voted No without a proper reason xD

Going back to the whole custom content thing, I hate joining a server that makes you download the same fonts and ModernMOTD materials every time you join. This is of course caused by failure to properly set shit up in your FastDL.
I am working on a Stranded mod to make it like RuneScape. Yes I know one exists already, I know the guy who created it and owns the server, but his version is shit and has stuff like Dwemer Ore (wat), Steel Ore (come on you're not even fucking trying!) and is basically a shittily modded Stranded.
Once I'm ready to test it I'm going to make sure my FastDL fucking works properly and I won't be Workshopping shit either because I know people hate downloading Workshop shit
Also the owner of the existing RuneScape server found out I was working on my own and proceeded to try to comvince me that I'd never finish the gamemode or get a server running for it. Fucking goof doesn't know I have a VPS and can get a Gmod server up in 3 minutes flat :v:
I also got Donator status on his server and found out he half-ass set the rank up leaving in the ability to give myself pointshop money, Drive props, etc. He whined at me for giving myself a Mithril Katana donator weapon then banned me for 10 hours for igniting and driving a rock prop about 3 feet through the air (it couldnt actually hurt anyone either). I told him to get his shit set up instead of whining at me.
Funny part is I drove the rock because I was bored and had just gave up on dealing with 3 twats who kept spawnkilling each other while the owner was invis and watching me administrate his fucking server. He banned me for driving a prop instead of handling a bunch of twats..

Nothing. It was one of those minable ones you dig up with a shovel in Stranded. The owner is just a bit of a goof who is incredibly paranoid about people "stealing his runescape idea". Except his RuneScape mod is shit, the map is shit and hugely misproportioned (doorways are twice the height of the player for example)

Unless you can make a gamemode that appeals with the 6 year minds then you prob wont see it coming for ages.
Oh and one other thing. The donator ranks on his server (I think there were 3) are pricy. The highest was $75. I paid $75. Before anyone goes "wtf why", I make $18/hr and work 12hr shifts doing a job I love at a pipe threading factory. I also like to support new communities.
However, I was looked at by the regulars as a "paid admin" because the $75 rank was basically admin. I had just joined the server for the first time when I donated too so that didn't help.
I figured out you could spawn trees and rocks and there was one corner of the map in the owners map savestate that was empty so I planted four trees and a big rock using the spawn commands and let him know over Steam. His response was (and I quote) "YOU FUCKING IDIOT. JUST LOAD THE SAVE STATE."
I explained where I had spawned them and why then told him something along the lines of "take the stick out of your ass".
I should still have my donator powers there so I may go back soon and spawn a bunch of antlion burrows set to spawn 500 antlions all over the map and generallu just fuck shit up because the owner is a fucking slapnuts.

I do agree that it's nice to have a calm and friendly environment, but there are some situations where I can't blame server admins at all for being strict. Especially if it's RDM or rule-based, since often when people say 'lol learn to take a joke', it's because they've acted like an asshole and cannot take criticism, as for some reason it's easier to get defensive and think the people who are upset are wrong, instead of the person being the asshole.
How about a compromise, server admins learn to take a joke when average users learn to stop thinking the game revolves entirely around them?
Like, if you think server admins are bad, try being one and having to deal with most gmod players :v:

Bad news - every new gamemode that claims to be the new DarkRP or to be its replacement (even if free) will not replace it - simply because DarkRP was the first widely used public RP script and it's what everyone knows (it is the Windows of Gmod when it comes to RP).
That won't stop me trying to replace it with something more serious - but the point remains - the majority of players won't want to play seriously and they'll stick with DarkRP. On the plus side, then DarkRP can be used as a honeypot to keep the mingebags off the more serious RP servers.
