Yeah i have the same error... Need fix!!! Its fucking annoying... I can play with my friend
Ok, I just did a clean install of steam (everything gone and redownloaded[this fixed the reason for this thread as well]) Installed all my games (HL2 all the ways to TF2 and portal and EP2), Installed all the tools (all the SDK source tools, TF2 Dedi server, source Dedi server,) ran everything once (to get the GCF). Ran the server update (i don't know the name of the updater) copyed the Garrys Mod folder from C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\lone_wolf_s117\Source 2007 Dedicated Server\orangebox folder (note: i said copy, not cut) paste the copy into C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\lone_wolf_s117\Source 2007 Dedicated Server and you should be good to go if your ports are forwarded correctly.
already try, not working
Bumb.
Open the port on the firewall to accept inbound UDP for that port.
This is starting to get on my nerves. It was working, and now has started doing it again. I about to give up and just say screw it. A servers not worth this much trouble. Come on Garry, your are last hope.
I was just playing Gmod and my server crashed. It lagged or something I suppose, and crashed. I go to run Gmod back up (not a dedicated server, its just my own I host to play with a few friends) and I get the same "Couldn't allocate and server IP ports". Is someone stealing my IP to use as their own dedicated server, possibly?
No, it's a port issue.
Re-Bumping. Sorry, can't let this away.
Try running these commands in GMod before joining a game:
clientport 27006 hostport 27016 tv_port 27021
(if this doesn't work try different numbers, the defaults are 27005, 27015 and 27020) The problem is that GMod is trying to use the same ports as something else (e.g. a dedicated server). These commands make GMod use different ports. The numbers can be set to any port that isn't in use (you can use TCPView to find the ports that are in use), it still connects to the same ports on the server. You may need to add :27015 (or whatever port the server uses) when using the connect command to connect to a server after doing this.
Bumping..
Open the port on the firewall to accept inbound UDP for that port.
You can try turning off your firewall to test this first if you prefer..
Bump... This problem just annoys me, i don't even have router modem, just ordinary modem, so i don't have to portforward any ports, and still this shit keeps happen. Who's fault this is anyway? Garry's, Valve's or is it just me?
Guys, this isn't garrys problem, it is yours. Disable HLTV support, or change the listening port for it!
I going to try this once i finish downloading the server again, but does anybody know how to turn it off?
BUMP... EDIT: I got it to work! I changed tv_port, hostport and clientport in game before i joined the server.
Hamachi DOES work with source games. I've tried it. Sometimes it won't appear in the LAN list, but you can still use the connect command in the console.
When you use Hamachi to play steam games with you've to play it as an internet server (sv_lan 0) and use the "connect 5.x.x.x". It won't work if you host it as LAN.
BUMP... EDIT: I got it to work! I changed tv_port, hostport and clientport in game before i joined the server.
I got it to a different error message! If you do as Travers said and change the ports before you join the server, you can POSSIBLY get into the server if you find the right HLTV port... I don't know how to disable HLTV, but if someone knows, POST IT PLEASE! EDIT: ZOMFG! I got it to work using Travers method and using a number 1 above the default ports of the host, client ant TV. Such as:
hostport 27016 clientport 27006 tv_port 27021 BUT(!!!) I get "Connection failed after 4 retries." But it's a start right? EDITING MY EDIT If you join the server with the method above and the ConCommand "connect" it won't work. Using the method described(!) I joined through the LAN tab in my Sbrowser (ingame) and I'm joining as we speak! TRY IT PEOPLE!
EDIT: ZOMFG! I got it to work using Travers method and using a number 1 above the default ports of the host, client ant TV. Such as:
hostport 27016 clientport 27006 tv_port 27021
THANK YOU SO MUCH! :D Really, this worked awesome, sitting right now in my own dedicated! :D You don't have to set the clientport though. I'm using 27015 as the port for the dedicated. BUT: For you people which don't want to do those two commands every time you start Garry's mod, do this: Under "My games", right click "Garry's Mod" and click "Properties". Click on "Set launch options..." and in the field, type
+hostport 27016 +tv_port 27021
And it will do it automatically everytime you start! -FirePain
I am getting crazy. You must fix this. ValVe! Come on! Fix it, it's probably under 100 lines of codes, what are you waiting for?
If they did have a bug, finding the specific bug in the code, would take them a while, since I'm sure the dedicated server has a large amount of code. Okay now, the dedicated server is not meant to be run on the same machine as the client computer running GMod. Buy server hosting, host it on another computer that you don't play GMod on, or.. ask a friend to host it.
We host server on are PC because its free, we may not have another pc that can run a server and if we ask a friend to host it, they can't play with us.

And what map do u mean with MyGames?
Where to do this in Vista? And what map do u mean with MyGames?
Start steam, click "My Games" there it is.
Oh, THX very much I tought in a separate file and not in steam Edit: I did put this in the Gmod thing: +hostport 27016 +tv_port 27021 but I still get a error.... Can I post a picture of what I have done somewhere? Otherwise for ppl who wants to help I can sent a picture by E-mail... Edit: I did it manually ingame and it worked THX alot! Edit: but still how to do this automatic.....
Someone please help!
Someone please help!
I suggest taking a look at Slayer's Dedicated Server Installer, as many posts in that thread may be able to help you. I'm not quite sure how to do it automatically, besides autoexec.cfg.
k....
Wow this thread is getting intense. No resolve. After changing the TV port, I fail to connect "after 4 retries". The sad part is, I fail to connect to the server on my own computer. Yes, it's dedicated!
I searched for the file autoexec.cfg but I was unable to find it I think I don't even have it!
EDIT: Shit dudes, found another thread and this fixed it. Put this in the autoexec in cfg map.
clientport 27016 hostport 27016 tv_port 27021
Thoose ports are guaranteed to work so forward them in your router if you have one and reboot it.
So, I was also having this problem. Couldn't join my own Dedi server. I added the launch options and I can connect now, but it gets stuck at 'Retreving server info'. Any ideas?
