• CSS content is beggining to be a problem

That's when you make a workshop addon named something obscure like "Domino's Server Content" and literally upload the game.
I and many others publicly host the games content for players to download. Valve doesn't care, they'd get it taken down if they did.
If they don't care then doesn't mean it's legal. Valve have specifically stated that redistributing any files of the Steam cache is against the Steam User Agreement and can get your Steam account terminated. Whether they bother enforcing this rule is none of my concern.
You can get CSS textures for free from csscheater. Just add the file to your addons folder (User was banned for this post ("advocating warez" - Robotboy655))
People forget that this is a mod of the Source Engine that mounts content, and you need to purchase that content. There isn't a viable alternative for the position we are in and have been in for forever. Garry's new game way down the line will probably take this into account and provide his own base assets.
The problem is that while CSS and CS:GO were both at 50% off, CSS, which is much older, was at about 10$, while CS:GO, the NEWER game, was at 5$. I have no idea why the pricing is like this. Maybe they are trying to keep the CS community in one place and discouraging people from buying their older game for this reason or maybe they just haven't gotten around to changing the price yet. This does create a problem for GMod, though. Although weapons packs such as M9K are near universal, you need CSS for map textures and such. They should again push a GMod + heavily discounted CSS bundle. It really would help the game. I never expected that CSS content is going to be a problem for players, but alas it has become...
It was first a real problem when they stopped the Gmod+CSS deal, cause when new players come, half of the online servers is errors. I mean they are used in so many maps...
It's like compairing apples to oranges. Csgo got microtransactions that allows Valve to set a low price. (After all, I got a feeling it'll end up being 'free to play' soon.) I brought HL2 ep2 for models and textures in Garrysmod. I see no problems and would tell anyone to buy CSS if they want the content. It's nothing but complaining about csgo being cheap. I would even bet it would be more expensive without microtransactions. Also facepunch is not owning the rights for css, to lower its price.
I know this is a very late post (I'm sorry) but unfortunately, Counter-Strike: Source is actually £15, while CS:GO is only £12 rendering CS:GO the cheaper game hence why people tend to buy that more than Source since CS:GO is much newer as well. Even though people have already mentioned this, I think people are better off downloading the CS:S content off a website rather than buy CS:S, despite CS:GO being a bit cheaper. To be honest, CS:S is a much older game and Valve really need to reconsider their pricing on their own games because I really don't think that it should be more expensive than CS:GO, when the original Counter-Strike (or 1.6) is only half the price of the price of Counter-Strike: Source.
anyone with their mind in the right place should buy the valve complete collection when it goes on sale (right now e.g.)
