exactly whatever, i might be rude but i just cant stand freelancers like scriptfodder ones. either script for your own projects or go script for a company.
I'm curious if you code at all yourself? Scripting your own projects is nice and something people should definitely try if they want to expand their skills, but it is very time consuming. For example, I do a lot in GameMaker - I have a 150 hours totaled and haven't finished one full game yet. In that time, someone could finish, like 10 gmod scripts

Took up scripting in blueprint which is overall easier than glua, then realized i had to learn to model, texture and animate if i wanted to get anywhere worthwhile Its gr8 in gmod cos you don't have to worry about modelling since you already have hundreds of models available by default and hundreds more on the workshop

EDIT: Learn to spell aswell, it should be "confirm" instead of "conform"
You've managed to completely miss my point. thecubanpimp asserted a bunch of arbitrary should statements without reasoning. So I asserted a bunch of equally arbitrary should statements without reasoning. I could also arbitrarily assert the opposite:
Gigabit internet access should not be free for everyone. I should have to pay taxes. Monster trucks should not be free.
And neither set of my statements would be more valid than the other. My point was that: a) "<x> should <y>." statements without a reason provided are all complete bullshit. You can assert that monster trucks should be free all day long but that changes nothing, gets you nowhere and convinces no one to give you free monster trucks. b) "<personal desire> should happen" statements without a reason provided are extra bullshit. Why should the universe conform (yes this is a real word) to your personal desires and expectations? (If I were voted president, monster trucks would be free. I'd make America FUKKEN AWESOME again.)

If you think that scripts should be free, that's fine, just go back to leakforums and stop trying to abolish the devs that WANT to sell their scripts.

It is just selfish and entitled to act as though that is some moral failing. Work = payment, regardless of whether or not others feel like giving things out for free. I guess you complain about musicians or indie game devs too?

Work = payment, regardless of whether or not others feel like giving things out for free. I guess you complain about musicians or indie game devs too?
not really, but your point is well formed and makes sense. in fact, I think people misunderstood me (or I didn't explain really well, English is not my main language and sometimes I tend to not exactly write what I really think) I just complain about all musicians, or indie game devs that sell stuff that doesn't enough work behind it. Most of the scripts on scriptfodder required little to no work behind, and are being sold for around 5 dollars. If you work a lot on something, it is your choice to choose wether or not to release it for free or sell it. But if you write shit (like, as I said, most of the scripts sold on sf) then it's outrageous to charge for it, and you're a loser for making profit from people who might think that you may have worked hard on a script while it took you 10 minutes to write it and it's horribly written

I have no idea what makes you think I am a "mpgh dude" any way. I use the funds from the sales of the scripts to pay for my communities server and website costs etc. For many years I paid for these out of my own pocket because unlike most other servers I don't push and slam in peoples faces to donate.

I feel like i should join this conversation, debate or whatever. Selling scripts is fine, i used to have a problem with it and as a student developer i see no harm in it. It's normally the price of most scripts that is what gets a lot people upset, some scripts can sometimes be the price of games with little or no effort put into them (I'm talking about most menu ones) and some can be an amazing piece of a add on (Artiz bank) for one example. The argument that all scripts should be free is really not really a justified argument. people who coded them at the end of the day still put hours into that work and feel like the should get some recognition for what they just made. I'm banned from the likes of script fodder and coderhire or whats left of it for using leaked scripts but that was two years ago. Back then i holded a grudge again the people who made scripts and believed that scripts should be free like skyrim or fallout mods and well after myself getting into the coding hobby i see no harm. Really you should be targeting your hate towards servers that use the scripts ineffectively. I've seen so many RP servers that use Artiz ATM as nothing more than a glorified interest and paycheck machine. What i'm trying to get at is although some scripts should be free, it all comes down to what you can get for your money. I for one have never paid for a script nor have no used any for 2 years since i set up one of those copy past Gmod RP servers that everyone hates. But i have sold other things that is part of other games on the likes of Unreal engine marketplace and Unity marketplace, mostly 3D models. I for one agree with the idea of creating your own scripts however as NiandraLades said, people dont have the time to do that. They want to set up there servers right away and get paid for it ( to and extent ;/) Thats why script fodder exists, to allow people to do that. If you are going to use custom scripts please use them effectively and dont just trow them on your server for a gimmick use it once and never again TL;DR: Selling good scripts is fine. Prices may be a bit high and things like menu scripts shouldn't really be sold unless it is really different from the hundreds of other menus. - from a student developer who probably has a bad opinion
I firmly believe that no matter how simple or over priced the script is dealing with script support that is of largely comprised retarded children offering no errors, decent descriptions of their issues, demanding you fix it instantly and expecting you to be on all hours to reply is more then punishment enough for any poor soul who decides they'd like to make some extra cash selling garrysmod scripts. Maybe I'm just not a people person.

I have no qualms with RP, I run a RP server myself. However, the problem is DarkRP servers, who are nothing but quick money grab schemes and are terrible.
I've been running a sort of "Roleplay" gamemode for the last three years, and honestly from what I've experienced, any game that requires all powerful god-men to descend form the heavens and shake their finger at a player and say "No!" is simply broken. I still run my server because there's hardly any harm in doing so, it mostly takes care of itself and all I have to do is fix stuff whenever gmod updates. I wish there were more actual RPG type gamemodes that focus more on immersing players by using game mechanics to steer them in the right direction rather than forcing them all to conform to a strict set of rules. I was working on a gamemode to replace my current server, but I'm still weighing my options on whether or not I should even bother with gmod any more as opposed to another game engine because of the direction most of the comunity has taken, such as what this thread is about.
This is perfect proof that, the server browser system makes it impossible for coders to make successful gamemodes. It shoves people into overplayed gamemodes, and the new ones are at the bottom of the list.
This is perfect proof that, the server browser system makes it impossible for coders to make successful gamemodes. I yearn for the day that either the legacy browser becomes default again or balance out the current server browser.
I won't lie but, my first server was ScriptfodderRP then me and a dev took time to make and actually good RP server, the gamemode is getting a map made just for etc, I openly admit to using so,e scriptfodder addons but, they're not over used ones, they literally are VCmod and PLogs and Civs, sadly roleplay gets a bad name from darkrp servers which are literally create and repeat. Now you can just go on leak forums and you have a server, it's truly ludicrous and the only way we can stop them is by not playing them. However their are good community's out there. [editline]28th February 2016[/editline] And I agree a RPG gamemode is almost certainly needed, me and my dev team remade CityRP basicly, how ever now taking inspiration from the new up coming game Identity, we have made gun fights less of a thing and all jobs are fun and have meaningful roleplay.
I miss spacebuild

I don't understand why. What are your thoughts?
I know lots of DarkRP are full of 6 year olds paying money for admins, but my server, -DELETED- is a good server for 14+ to play RP without the bullshit.
