you know that list that seth is on that stops him from playing gmod multiplayer? can we add hex to that?
While it isn't required, it is optional. And theoretically, if you were to opt into this game token thing, you would be easily held accountable for shit. Besides, can't Valve like cockblock servers based on IP?
Valve usually only block servers that are against they're rules, in this case Facepunch could do something about it, while Valve doesn't really care.
So what exactly do you have to do in order to get VAC banned on Garry's Mod?
While it isn't required, it is optional. Besides, even if that happened, He could still get a server from a different company with a different IP. Hex would need to be IP banned. The only way for him to get a new account then is to get a new internet provider (correct me if I'm wrong.) But seriously, instead of talking about him and making him even more famous, why not get someone to deal with him? I'm sure someone knows someone official to check this out and solve it.
So what exactly do you have to do in order to get VAC banned on Garry's Mod?
This questions brings a lot of drama, though from what I've seen the only stuff that gets detected are 2 very old cheats, and editing one of the base game files (I can't remember which one). Of course that's just from what I've heard/seen on the forums and so I could be completely wrong.
Hex would need to be IP banned. If you have a static ip, you can usually ask your isp for a new one.
So what exactly do you have to do in order to get VAC banned on Garry's Mod?
The only consistent thing I've read is that you have to go in and fuck up the .text segment of the process or run an old version of baconbot. You'd be hard pressed to get banned for anything else. The nature of GMod and it's module system doesn't really allow for any sort of anticheat to function without a very strict whitelist on what is and isn't okay. A lot of legitimate modules get handles to engine functions via sigscanning and many of them detour methods on top of that. Lua scanning is completely out of the question for obvious reasons. It's probably for the better. CAC is pretty effective at getting rid of most of the dumb skids that'll join your server with off the shelf bypassers and anyone who's smart enough to bypass CAC will give you a lot more trouble than just running an aimbot on your server.

And that's if you're changing the IP of your network segment. If you're just trying to change the IP configuration of the host computer, as in the PC -you- are using, all you need to do is open up the Command Prompt, and type "ipconfig /renew". This does require that you automatically generate IPv4/IPv6 settings, but that is most often done in home networks for the sake of convenience. Within ten seconds, you now have a new IP for your PC. To change the IP of your network segment, AKA your router/switch/whateverthefuck, type its IP into the URL bar of any web browser. Enter the password, and viola. You now have access to the router's settings. From there you can swap the IP/MAC address. TL:DR: You can IP ban HeX, yes. But it will be incredibly easy to undo the damage.
Snip
You can also change your mac address in the networking settings of your control panel. I only checked with CMD though. Here's an example
Even if he got many players, he will loose one day with his "anti-cheat". It will become obsolete. Maybe he will re-code it, but people will already know the danger...
The only danger it does now is just ban; it doesnt do anything else now.
I'm sure kid. Remember we are talking about psychotic skitzo HeX, he could very well be pulling all nighters to find more exploits
So if he can change his IP that easily, and with VAC not really helping us, is there anything we can do about all of this anticheat bullshit?
So if he can change his IP that easily, and with VAC not really helping us, is there anything we can do about all of this anticheat bullshit?
Kill hex.
-snip- said something stupid
Again.
All of this could be easily avoided if you just didn't join his server and forget that unitedhosts and hex are even an entity. Eventually he'll get bored and go away.
there are about 3-5 people playing regularly(just noticed that) Gonna be long until he'll "go away"
Those 3-5 people are probably his friends or HeX fanboys. I wouldn't worry too much about it, he's banned like 80% of the Gmod community - pretty much no one can join anyway.
Why doesn't he just make a whitelist? It'd be much easier.
It's all part of his no-sunlight god complex.
he's not as bad as everyone makes him look rate dumb if you agree
