does mesa script work with out HL:S?
Can someone make/modify this MesaScript be on Catscript and not DarkRP? Catscript is way better than DarkRP (no offence, but I like it better). The map is very awesome, but sadly no resonance cascade :(
Thanks for posting this here MILKE. Is anyone interested in continued development of this map? I plan to strip out all the custom stuff and just use native Source 2007/CSS assets. This will however require either HLS or HLDMS. I need someone to cook up a new gamemode as trying to update both the gamemode and map is discouraging and frustrating. Hell, maybe I will just stick to sandbox because real roleplay does not require a custom gamemode. If there is an interest in this, I may go as far to rent a server.
This would be interesting, but it is possible to add the HLS textures to the map, so you don't have to own HLS? And if it possible to use CatScript instead of MesaScript (DarkRP).

If you own Half-Life, you can convert your textures using VTFEdit's batch converter. 1st, use GCFScape to get the WAD files. 2nd, use Dragon Unpacker to extract the WADs. 3rd, use the batch convert feature in VTFEdit. I forget what type of output Dragon Unpacker creates, if you get stuck with PCX files, you can use Wally instead on the 2nd step and produce some nice compatible TGAs. 4th, Place them in: garrysmod/garrysmod/materials/halflife Also, I deleted my BMRP project folder and will be starting from scratch. I have better ideas. Instead of grafting map sections together to create a best-of Black Mesa, I will be using a series of teleports for personnel to travel to distant areas of the complex with ease. I will be getting the server up and running with the current version of the map.
Only that the textures are from Half-Life: Source, not from Half-Life (goldsource), HLS uses materials like the rest of the source games, and Half-Life uses WADs. Anyways, there is a better RP gamemode than MesaScript for this Black Mesa, because it's built on DarkRP. I would suggest be on CatScript, but after CakeScript comes out, that would be the best solution.

I plan to use CatScript, and modify it here and there. It looks like a good non-invasive gamemode.

I will have to replace all the textures with others found in CSS, HL2, and Source 2007/EP2. I am working on rp_blackmesa2_alpha1. I have designed a teleport system that will work better than grafting parts of Black Mesa together. Any suggestions? rp_blackmesa2 will include accommodations such as sleeping quarters and numerous science labs along with mods such as Wire and Chem available for experimentation. Well this look nice. Is this map it built on rp_blackmesa or this is a completely new map? By the way, I like the textures... Keep it going! :D You've chosen the right solution... to make this on CatScript. :) But it is possible to choose between Scientists, HEV guys, Security Guards, The Administrator? The scientists would have Kleiner's model, but it would be great to have multiple scientist models... the HEV guys would have the HEV suit like in Half-Life (with and without mask), security guards would have the Barney model (the old HL Barney model would be better, but the HD one) and the Admin would be Breen. And only security guards and HEV guys would have weapons... SG would have pistols and HEV guys would have pistol, crowbar (it would be nice to have the TAU Cannon too...). But still the scientist have the gravity gun and physgun... P.S. Keep up the good work. ;)

I have started a server that running the latest map build with CatScriptX. So far the comments from those who have joined the server and left are kind of discouraging... I am going to keep working at it. I downloaded the map rp_blackmesa_alpha24 from garrysmod.org and I've copied it to maps and then I entered the game, but at the middle of loading it crashes and gives the hl2.exe visual c++ error. Wounder what's the problem? I tried on a fresh gmod, but still that error... Maybe it's hardware based error... Anyways, keep it going... ;)

I am not getting errors, I do get the vertex_buffer crash every so often. I think using func_areaportal entities in the map should fix that. What video cards are you all using? I am using: [img]http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8884/8600gtfx7.png[/img]

What if you havehl1 multiplayer source?
How would it look if you don't have [gasp] Counter-Strike and just have [gasp, gasp] hl1 Multiplayer? If it's just purple, black, and flashing error signs, could you put all the textures and props in a bsp please?

You will not need to buy half life source probably there's a demo, I have half life source but i'm sure I didn't buy it. I maybe make a download for the textures. And i don't think it is illegal you only have the textures not the game.
I have an Idea ! Well i know there is a method to play the map if you do not have the game with those textures etc (With No Purple and Black). well i thought i called adapting you acctully put the textures etc. in the download so it is standalone (but still needs the source engine). maybe you should contact Wilsonbj he made one map , but there where complains about the fact for the players that did not have HL2 Episode 2 could not play the map. Well he found that method and used it for his map. I think he has some more Knowledge about this method And no it is not eligal .

I would also like to add it's nothing to be missing out to be honest, the map is alright but it's limited, but i would like to say it is some good work on the map.

I am thinking you people have no life, this map is now only fun in multi but no servers so single is only good for a man made cascade.
