Sure! You can watch, but if the server gets full you may have to leave if there's contestants waiting to go who can't connect to the server.
Gotta dig up and update my gokart from the last gokart race. that shit was a blast
Bob from Buuf's Build here.
Gotta say, I don't find ballsocket-to-base as an acceptable competition strategy, but I haven't voiced my opinion loudly enough on the server to change that unfair allowance yet.
That aside, I wish to enter this facepunch-hosted kart race with a race kart I built last summer. Please forgive the overly large images, as they are linked straight from my screenshots page.

Notice here how the steering pivots on the kingpin. This makes the kart super lively in corners, allowing it to corner at 60mph, which is only 5mph less than its top speed.

Below is another kart which I built as a loaner / public kart. It needs ACF installed and handling reworked but if anybody's interested in using it perhaps we could work something out tradewise.

Hmm, the intake pipe seems to be missing on the first kart. Must have got lost during the conversion to ACF.

What size are those wheels? I can't tell if your rear wheels are over size 15 or if you just have tiny front wheels.
I know lots of ways to resize images, just not how to make a url-linked image appear smaller than actual size within the confines of this forum.

Homemade danish gokart from the 1970s called the Herman, very few made, absolutely zero information on the internet.
Also there's only one gear :v:

Thanks T. Appreciated. Glad to know that info. Super simple actually.

This particular kart saw its' debut in Mario Kart DS for none other than the Nintendo DS and is piloted
by an odd dinosaur creature called a Yoshi. Since then, it has returned in all titles since MK:DS and now
has Bullet-Billed itself into the Source Engine. Unfortunately, Yoshi did not make it into the world of .mdl
and thus disintegrated into a measly script error. Which leaves the Kart to appear on a street corner in a
gm_bigcity.bsp near you. Taking this advantage, Kel hopped into the aerodynamically adept Kart and made
his way to gm_upstatespeedway-657625 at a blistering 50kph!

This is cool, May have to take part my self ay.
Any tips to get these things to roll smoothly/not have a speed wobble? I've got a promising chassis I could repower(Currently it has the 52HP I2 which makes it do wheelies :v:) but when I get up to about 35MPH or so the chassis starts rocking left and right, speed refuses to increase, and nothing I know to do will fix that.
I have a similar but not quite as awful issue: Turning at high speeds causes my front wheels to wobble spazzedly left and right like a Floridian native dropped into Antarctica but it doesn't seem to reduce speed much outside of the standard speed reduction from turning. It's not a major issue but it likes to break my steering wheel which is... visually unappealing?
I'd take that over my speed wobble any day. Mine effectively renders my kart impotent for racing purposes.
I've tried jackpody's wheel spazz reduction technique on it, which has worked on larger vehicles, but no dice here.

Should have seen my original cart for the last race. Might as well have welded itself to the ground when it hit 40.

What kinda weights/inertia (if any) are you using on the wheels/base plate?

Q: Do we need gearboxes or is a straight belt to the axle fine

I haven't touched inertia, matter of fact I don't actually know how to mess with inertia on a prop. Weights...I think 25 pounds on each tire and 150 on the chassis but I'm not sure, Id' have to fire up Gmod and check. There's an I2 mated to a transverse CVT mounted behind a parented racing seat, 5 gallon fuel tank in the front, and that's as far as I've gotten on it.

Could definitely use a lighter base plate, for reference mine's at ~20kg for the base plate and something like 10kg on the front wheels and 20 on the rear. Of course that's without suspension, if you did suspension on yours then reducing the weight that much may be impossible. On a slightly different note, you'll have to switch your engine as you may only use either the 125cc or 250cc single cylinders.
I haven't touched inertia, matter of fact I don't actually know how to mess with inertia on a prop.
start by getting your chassis's inertia with print(Chassis:inertia()) and take whatever the highest value of the vector and do Chassis:propInertia( vec(ValueHere) ). this will be a good place to start, but you can add more or less to fit your liking just don't over do it as too much or too little can end badly.
the idea is you want to equal out all the numbers in the vector so your chassis will want to resist rotating equally on all axis (aka fixing most your wobble issues as it will no longer want to lean on the axis with the least inertia).
also you can adjust the values independently for example, if your car spins out a lot add more to its Z axis. (not all props are the same and fun way to check is to applyTorque() to it see what way it spins)
just remember the laws of gmod inertia
TOO much and you become a boat
TOO little YOU'RE A GOD DAMN CHEATER GET OUTA MY SERVER!!!!

Rear wheels have been replaced with 15 size.
I would enter, but the smallest thing I've got is about 4 standard crates long.
Oh that and its powered by a 99hp rotary so erm.
Yeah, can't do it I'm afraid >_>
Yeeeaaah so turns out I'm going to be be busy so I can't race. :c
