• What do you hate most about DarkRP?
You would be surprised how badly some bases are designed or how some people give away their keypad pws. Sneaking in there is aways the best fun, you also don't need to bother a self supplying gun dealer to sell you a gun.
More fun than the flip side, where one guy is able to hold off 6 people because of how unfair his base is.
Its kept up to date which therefore means someone buys a server sets up and think they have a hit. Then at the first sign of no interest they get an idea and post in general discussion asking how to do it or ask someone to make a plugin for them.
Servers where the admins are 10 years old. And people that take the game way too seriously. Can be as bad as playing SAMP sometimes.
The admins that just ruin the fun [editline]20th August 2015[/editline] Oh and i also hate things like 40+ jobs when in reality you can only use like 5 unless you get vip. I also hate kids that always shout rdm in your ear if you kill them no matter what. I paid £5.99 for this game i wanna have fun.... And i know you might say just go on a diffrent gamemode then. But the true thing is that i really like rp i do but what i want is a sever that has age restriction like 16+ or something.
bullying
wtf
Because it's really sad how the biggest and most popular gamemode in the game is labelled with "RP", but instead of being an actual roleplaying game mode, it chooses to be a clusterfuck of unrealism and faggotry. Basewars, unrealistic playermodels, degeneracy all over the place. I play DarkRP for only one reason - spawn, hit F4, turn into a gun dealer, go up to the highest floor of the hotel, buy myself a sniper or some other accurate weapon, and snipe people in the head from the window. That's how it is. And when the eventual admin comes and physguns me to the nearest roof, I just say "next server" and repeat the process. Roleplay doesn't exist on DarkRP. It's literally an FPS with the only exception being that you're not supposed to kill people without a reason. Most servers don't even have character names and they're all the same. It simply doesn't deserve the number of servers it has. What's even more sad is that gamemodes like Clockwork and NutScript are dead as shit - why couldn't those gamemodes get any spotlight?
Can be as bad as playing SAMP sometimes.
Have you not heard of LSRP? Best roleplay, best server, best game.
What's even more sad is that gamemodes like Clockwork and NutScript are dead as shit - why couldn't those gamemodes get any spotlight?
I'm willing to guess that since DarkRP can be easy to just plop right into and be entertained by, while it can take hours at times to find action in gamemodes like Clockwork, DarkRP is quite possibly the most popular of roleplaying gamemodes.

This is why MMO-style roleplay servers are the way to go. Haven't seen much else other than SAMP which can support something like that (I'm talking from 100 to 500 players) so they're diamonds in the rough, but there's always something to do if you know how to find it.
I hate that the average age of the owner's is about 12. I hate I see (DEVELOPER) *NAME* and I ask them what they coded, "I created the HUD and all the jobs!" I disconnect.

I appreciate people who enjoy HL2RP or other gamemodes but on DarkRP it's just designed for having a bit of fun and its fast paced and action packed. This isn't to say other roleplay gamemodes are bad just that you can't hate something just because you don't personally enjoy it.
"Clusterfuck of unrealism and faggotry" It's not supposed to be realistic, DarkRP isn't a serious gamemode.
I wasn't even sure whether it was serious in the first place. I personally enjoy RDMing people. And maybe some other social experiments. Nothing else in it for me.
you can't hate something just because you don't personally enjoy it
what
The entire way the gamemode functions, which consists mainly of getting money out machines that explode to buy guns that you aren't allowed to use, drugs that have no fucking point, and laggy vehicles that can be more efficiently used to "accidentally" murder people. Any form of creativity or actual RP is generally frowned upon as it distracts users from these very well designed game mechanics.
When you think your joining a custom gamemode, but the loading screen is a still image and you still have hope you join, joins, and it's no different to any other darkrp server, at least with mine I try to make all my stuff.

The gamemode is suppose to be fun yet theres a whole bunch of restrictions on what you can and can't do UNLESS you pay out of pocket for things that you shouldn't even gameplay wise because its just unfair for everyone else.
I wasn't even sure whether it was serious in the first place. I personally enjoy RDMing people. And maybe some other social experiments. Nothing else in it for me. what
Well not everyone enjoys going on a game to just sit there and chat with other people which is what is done on most "serious rp" like hl2rp ect. Also hl2rp by default is sv_allowcslua 0 so when I join a server my commands do not load. There's no action but I'm not going to hate hl2rp just because I don't enjoy it .. . .
I hate admins that post your IP in chat, threaten to send the swat after you, ddos you, and of course threaten to contact steam support about you using hacks. They said all my steam accounts on my IP would get banned. I wasn't hacking.
Advert on raid? Who the fuck came up with that shit? Imagine if ISIS did this IRL... "ALLAH AHKBAR WE RAID BUILDING IN EUROPE 5 MINUTES FROM THIS COMMERCIAL"
The fact that you aren't allowed to block windows with props after some turd kid broke the window glasses as that is also considered "prop blocking"
I hate admins that post your IP in chat, threaten to send the swat after you, ddos you, and of course threaten to contact steam support about you using hacks. They said all my steam accounts on my IP would get banned. I wasn't hacking.
I've had so many bad admin experiences its not even funny. I had five frying pans together and was moving it and let it go and as i was moving to transport it somewhere else as a hobo an admin physguns me as is like "YOU'RE ATTEMPTING TO PROPKILL HUH I SAW THAT I SAW THAT" so i told the dude to f off and let me go because i was moving the shit i had made somewhere else. Edit : Funny thing as well is that you can't actually prop kill anymore. Its not possible, when a prop is moving and gets close enough to the player it will be no collided/invisible. One time where i did actually break a rule and killed someone(Rdm'd) and i get pulled by the admin but didn't say anything. He wanted me to tell him exactly why i rdm'd someone or he would permanently ban me, told him i'd rather just take the ban considering i did break a rule but he wasn't going to have it unless i bended to his will and answered his question. I'd say probably the top 20-30 servers have way too many rules/restrictions and around half of those are run by admins that don't have any clue what they're doing and the other forty percent and run by people who rule by theresay and then you have the 10 percent who can run a server but have so many restrictions i might as well just walk around typing /me and looking at the ground as a citizen. Not counting the countless occurrances where i've had badmins tell me that i was lieing because they couldn't find what i was saying in the logs despite it actually occurring. "Well, it seems that you did not get shot and lose health because i can't find it in the logs so i'll have to warn/kick you for lieing. Oh? You want to show me a screenshot? No i don't want to see it but take the time to register on our forums to show me it there."
I hate over exhadurated punishments and ban appeal denials... Today I got banned because a cop rda'd me 30 times and I said "I'm gonna expose you at joey salads *youtube link*" It was a perma ban,and they denied it lmao. Plus the 8 year olds that raid you and all you're doing is growing carrots, and you tell him that you have nothing for him.
People who call Random Arrest RDA. It's not Random Arrest. NLR. 37 unused playermodels. Want a totally overpowered job w/ a Davy Crockett? $15, please! Picking favorites, staff wise. Some guy who payed $20 6 days ago has more say over the person who's played for 6 months. Cookie cutter printers. Get some other ways to make money that's not illegal or mining. Advertising your illegal raiding activity to the entire server for no reason other than the fact that every other fucking server that exists does it. Same with mugging. "Respect others" as a rule. No, fuck you. "No mic unless you're over 16" Why do you have obvious 11 year olds on the microphone then? 7,107 jobs. 7,100 are VIP only. "Come visit our forums! x.enjin.com/x.freeforums.com/x.000webhost.com" There's a lot more, I can't be fucked to think about them right now.
DarkRP.
-Zero originality in map choice. Finding a server not using Downtown/a Downtown edit is a challenge, despite there being so many better maps (city## maps are criminally underused, despite how well they'd work, e.g. industrial17 was incredibly unique and fun on DarkRP when I played a server I knew had it). -Overly restrictive rules, like NLR that never existed before and never needed to exist. Raiding and even being raided was so much more intense without NLR, instead of raiders using guns that can wallbang 50 props at once and kill everyone inside, meaning they can take their sweet sweet time to collect with no threats (because police in DarkRP nowadays are a joke, leading to my next point) -Police have been gimped to ludicrous extremes in my experience. They used to be the one force raiders were concerned about, but with a lot of server removing the arrest stick in favour of cuffs that require them to get behind a player, hold them still for 10 seconds, and not have said character resist in any way. They also usually have incredibly crap weapons compared to criminals (But you can't be a corrupt cop that has weapons from BMDs because that goes against rule #286 of our 300-page rulebook) -Servers with 17 Petabytes of content that doesn't need to be there. Custom Content is fine within reason, but 70 TDM mods with 500 player models (All of which have extremely different art styles ruining any cohesive look Gmod has) burns retinas and data caps. Also makes joining new servers kill hard drive space and taking 5 hours just to get everything to load in and still have errors. -Economies are just... nonexistent anymore. Every job has their own way of printing money like nobodys business so people don't need to interact to build up their bank. Drug Dealers in particular I miss, they used to be a way to get an edge during raids/raid defence to get money circulating but now they just sit in the corner of the map selling to an NPC as if they're in singleplayer. -Everything gimped to make donating as appealing as possible. Bypass rules, get a massive advantage over other players and get OP jobs by paying huge bucks to the owners credit card. Cosmetic is fine by me since you need money to keep the server running but advantages are a no-no. DarkRP is in a dark place right now, and it's sad. Used to be my favourite gamemode. I guess HL2:RP will have to fill the void in the time being.
RDM, NLR, Advertising raid and FearRP are all, in increasing order, god damn bullshit. Try running your shitty server without them. It will make your server less shitty. Replace advertising raid with the demand that people who get raided should call the cops. Replace NLR with not NLR. Just stop giving a shit when someone kills their killer. Replace RDM with MassDM. Start getting an admin involved when someone's mass killing everyone. And last but not least, FearRP. I don't know what cunt made that bullshit up. It's by far the most retarded rule. Get rid of it altogether. When a mugger walks up to a player and says "Mug, drop x or die", and the player runs away, have the mugger shoot the fucker. When the mugger calls an admin for "FearRP", just kick or ban the mugger for being a dumb, admin addicted cunt. Also, people who say "Admin to me" in OOC chat without saying anything about their situation are to be kicked or at least yelled at very loudly. Fuck those people. Stop putting people on roofs to interrogate them you god damn incompetent shit admins. Seriously, what use does a "roof session" ever have? Everyone /always/ lies. You don't get ANY information by interrogating people, ever. When someone reports a player for some rule they're breaking (and for fuck's sake, not the ones mentioned above), just start spectating the cunts and see if they do it again. If they do, ban the fuckers. If they don't, let the offense slip. Accept that shit may have happened once, but you didn't see it. Repeat offenders should not be on the server. People making one mistake should not be punished too harshly anyway.
No roleplay what so ever and the moment you try a 12 year old admin will ban you. Funny story, I bothered to contact the owner (He was like 13) of said server and told him about his head admin being abusive. When I was talking with him in game the head admin picked me up and started screaming no and the owner did nothing.
I set up a "Cop Bar" that sold "Real ale and cheap spirits" right next to the police station. Since the server had a day and night cycle the idea was that at night the Police could chill at the bar on their "off-hours". Someone ran to the door and wrote in OOC for an admin and yelled at me to sell the door because Police couldn't own doors. I said "It's just good RP, man! Chill!" A few moments later I'm teleported to a roof where the admin tells me to sell all the doors or I'll be kicked. I said, "You realise that this no door owning for cops rule actively inhibits RP?". He wasn't a bad guy, responded "Yeah, I know, but these are the rules. Suggest it on the forum if you want it changed." So we've got here: 1) Dumb server rules that actively prevent RP from occurring 2) Someone ass kissing an admin (guess he wanted admin or something?) 3) Admins who know the rules are dumb but have to stick to them Seriously, what the hell happened to this gamemode? I used to hate it back in the day when servers used ridiculously bad UI addons and stupid things like scars or M9K weapons, now a 30 minute download and 40FPS is the norm. 90+ people on rp_downtown_v4c? No thanks.
The fact that I don't know how to play it yet!
One word. Players.
The players The clickbait server names Making you download 500mb+ worth of custom models when GMod's built in models could have done the trick fine Donator admins 14 year old admins 14 year old donator admins Retarded jobs (pet, SWAT sniper, ninja, etc) Jobs that make other jobs useless (burglars that spawn with guns and lockpicks when there's a black market/gun dealer job) Car addons on maps that don't work with cars (downtown) rp_downtown_v4c Awesomium's shitty server browser which makes starting a new community hard Shitty unoptimized GMODstore addons that shit up the server and rape client performance Pointshop
