Not everyone knows that your gamemode forces sv_allowcslua to 1 by default.
That should really be changed. That, or a disclaimer should come up on server startup saying "THIS SERVER HAS SV_ALLOWCSLUA FORCED TO 1"
I'd prefer it if allowcslua was 1 by default on all servers and server owners were more educated on it.
That should really be changed. That, or a disclaimer should come up on server startup saying "THIS SERVER HAS SV_ALLOWCSLUA FORCED TO 1"
"THIS SERVER HAS SCRIPTENFORCER FORCED TO 0 BY DEFAULT" - not Garry 2010
"THIS SERVER HAS SCRIPTENFORCER FORCED TO 0 BY DEFAULT" - not Garry 2010
Difference is though, Garry changed his mind.
Difference is though, Garry changed his mind.
Yes, deciding that any form of clientside scripts is bad even in Sandbox based gamemodes. The reason why Garry changed the default is probably the shift of focus from Sandbox to other gamemodes. This shift is visible if you think about it: back in early GMod, Sandbox and Sandbox based gamemodes. Later this shifted to TTT, prop hunt, gamemode contests and all that stuff. Let's call them "serious gamemodes" With the focus shifting away from Sandbox, Garry changed the allowcslua default probably because scriptenforcer didn't work properly and people forgot to turn it on in serious servers. This happened because it was off by default and serious gamemode authors didn't usually force it on. The problem with this approach is that it fucked up Sandbox servers in the exact opposite way scriptenforcer 0 fucked up serious gamemodes: people forget to explicitly allow Lua. That's how a whole community of clientside scripters silently died. I argue that Sandbox should allow clientside Lua by default like it did before allowcslua. It makes sense, because you can't cheat. That's where the story gets difficult for DarkRP. DarkRP is traditionally Sandbox based non-serious RP. As such the values of Sandbox are embraced, including the freedom to modify your client to be able to get a better experience. Some people regard DarkRP as a (semi-) serious gamemode. They differ from the default and as such they should change the default value of allowcslua to customize DarkRP to their desires. This modification is supported in the settings file of the DarkRPMod addon.
What addon is that? I know ULX Ucctv no longer works, but is there one like it that works?
It's the Parakeet Pillpack NSA tracker iirc.
It's the Parakeet Pillpack NSA tracker iirc.
It's updated ULX Ucctv, I can't remember where I found the link to the updated version
It's updated ULX Ucctv, I can't remember where I found the link to the updated version
Crazyscouter updated it. https://github.com/crazyscouter/GMod-Addons/tree/master/ucctv
By law you must disclose that people have access to this, if the person has any personal data disclosed you must follow the data protection act and (sign up for it) If you take the pics without them knowing and an admin just has them, it's mishandling of data especially if there's no log to track if someone took a pic and what was in the picture.
Well. It depends where the server is hosted. Different countries where these servers are being hosted might have different laws regarding internet privacy. This is the same thing as the !spectate command for ULX, the only major difference is that the person spectating has more visuals then they did before. It is still restricted to the hl2.exe application which is not able to access other parts of your computer, which therefore is not a breach of privacy. By joining a multiplayer server, you are giving that server permission to access information on your computer and the hl2.exe application on your computer, therefore anything in that application basically has pre-given consent to be used by the server you are willingly connecting to. If you choose to browse your PayPal account information over steam overlay while connected to a server, then thats your choice. Personally, I would just Tab out, go to chrome and do it b/c it's 10x faster. But again, this script is not violating any personal protection acts because again, by you playing on a public server, client information is downloaded on all servers and this is technically part of the client information, therefore, its allowed. If this application were able to use the hl2.exe application to spy through other applications on your computer or spy through files, ect, then I see where it could turn into a privacy issue. But seeing as this is not able to do such things, this is perfectly legal, well in the US for that matter.

When doing !cap <name> it spams the ever living hell out of chat saying the player name can't be found until it suddenly shows a screenshot, even when the player is the only other one on and the name is typed exactly.
taking a picture of someone's screen has been done 100 times before it was put on scriptfodder
But it was mostly used by people who had it custom made rather then it being public, Allowing people to abuse it to there own gain or use it for good but not many people do so.
Very old screenshot... but
