ok, I changed my controls... What is shift by default? Jump, use, sprint, I'm not going to default my controls to find out? I wish people would stop giving the keys for default controls and tell people what action it is.

Yeah, Wire capability would be great, and is it just me or does anybody else have to press shift more than once sometimes for it to recognize you want to deploy the chute?

to a +0 will it remove the delay when trying to deploy the chute, since I use this on ejection seats and if you are low to the ground, you usually end up ending flat on your face instead of the good end of a parachute
personally i don't like it since we have noclip but cool idea!
Well, I wanted to have a parachute deployer. Something like a balloon deployer. This way, it could be used to slow down nukes being dropped down from an aircraft.(sometimes the aircraft get blown away by the shockwave)
Or maybe slow down a plane from going out of the runway.

What the hell does noclip have to do with anything? This slows you down while falling, noclip allows the player to pass through anything without colliding with it and fly through the air. The only similarity is that both can involve air.

What you may be thinking of as far as the plane goes is a drag-chute, like what they use on drag racer to slow them down after a race. As far as the bomb goes, they detach those several hundreds of feet before impact, there wouldn't be enough force otherwise.
Hey, i have a problem. When i want to open the shute, the sound plays, i turn in to a ragdoll but the shute itself does't appear an i fall like a... ragdoll.

SO is my idea useless?
I need help, I spawn the parachute sent (sent_chute) and near it i prees "e" then the console writes this a few times : LS: Error: [Scripted Entity Function] entities/sent_chute/init.lua:33: attempt to index local 'ply' (a userdata value). Can anyone fix this or at least tell me how to fix it??? And by the way the parachute doesn't pickup because I jump and I prees shift and I don't turn into a ragdoll and then...SPLAT!!!

Press shift again to open the chute, when you first time press shift you start freefalling like ragdoll... problem solved?

No, it'll still work, you would just need to detach it about 300 to 400 feet above the ground.

Well, maybe I should learn lua so that I would be able to make it...
If you have a deployer, you could probably weld it to what ever you want to drop, and then unweld it at the needed height.

That is a really great looking map man, keep going.
What I want to see is the ragdoll change it's hands and arms so it looks like it's holding the ropes (like a real parachute). Then, pressing shift a 3rd time will allow the player to use weapons!
I made a new parachute model some time ago yet he did not update anyone who wants can download the file convert it to .mdl and redistribute. Right now the model is in .smd and .blend. Have fun!

Lua King for you Sir, this is a superb addon. I'm just wondering; is it possible to make it so stuff that's already parented to the player is retained? This could be very useful for doing things like bungee jumps when in freefall mode. :)
I don't think so. The player doesn't actually become a ragdoll. The player enters spectator mode which spectates a new entity (ragdoll) and when the player wants to be a player again, the ragdoll is deleted and the player respawns where the ragdoll was deleted.
