Is it possible to make it so it has the same skin as when it went in? I sent a blue metal barrel through and it came out red. Make it so it sucks up vehicles and sents, too. And one other thing: The blue lightning effect doesn't appear for me when I use it. EDIT: Forgot to mention how awesome this is.
Random idiots go around reporting files on the front page of garrysmod.org. They don't have a reason, they just do it.
resource.AddFile() why don't i see them?? Come on why does no one do this for anything they code anymore.. Edit: Here is wrote it out for you. :D Anyways Great Job :) [lua] resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationBomb.vmt") resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationBomb.vtf") resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationBombFull.vmt") resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationBombFull.vtf") resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationBombNor.vmt") resource.AddFile("materials/effects/AnnahilationParticle.vmt") resource.AddFile("materials/VGUI/entities/sent_QuantumStorageDevice.vmt") resource.AddFile("materials/VGUI/entities/sent_QuantumStorageDevice.vtf") resource.AddFile("sounds/BeerBomb/explosion.wav") resource.AddFile("sounds/BeerBomb/IdleSound.wav") [/lua]
I installed it in addons as per the instructions, but nothing appeared in-game. Any ideas?
I really see potential in this device! :D Is there a possibility that this could be weaponized, via Wiremod..? This would make for one hell of a missile..
Ohhh, also I seem to have created a volumetric shadow...
i found somewhat of a bug. (mostly the games fault.) if it kills an npc it will only hide the corpse if you have gmod set to keep ragdolls, otherwise it will completely ignore the corpse and it will stay there as if it were part of the map. also, you should give it the option of being toggled with a numpad press so we can activate it from a safe distance. or, we could make the QSD invisible and put a mysterious button next to it...

Number pad activation would be cool. Using that and pressure pads, you could make an effective rocket. Start with the base of the rocket, which would be a toggle-thruster mounted to something small, such as the little one bars in Phx. From there, if you want small, fast rockets, you skip this next step, but if you want a stable, long rocket, read the next sentence. From there, attach another bar, you can use a one or a two, but a two may change the weight, causing it to fly horribly. After that, mount a button-bound QSD to that. From there, you can finish it off by mounting a pressure pad bound to the same button to the end then nocolliding it with the rocket, or mount one last bar then finish it. Another little trick, just before adding the QSD, is to mount a dynamite to it with a button, then the QSD without a binding, then when you finish it, bind the pressure pad to the dynamite button. The effect from a QSD that has been damaged is much greater than just activation, but you can't recover what you hit. Use a normal one if you want to create a trap, a stealing tool, or a spying tool.
I just downloaded it and it is awesome! And a good way to clean up a map if your not an admin.
You guys could just use a wired-user. That gives you wire control over the device. Also it doesn't seem to suck up anything you weld to it, so you can build missiles out of it. Also how did you figure out that rolling the strider pinch material would cause it to swirl?
Look, if you want to weaponise it, you need a small explosive to blow it up on impact, then it sucks in the rocket, it's self and your foes... Nothing left at all.
Don't know if it's been posted, but you should make it reproduce whatever got sucked in in the same state that it was in. So the scene with Kliener in a "lab" should be perfectly recreated, NPC still "living" and all.
That would make it more useful as a storage device, but it would make it far less cool. The way it kills anything caught inside is rather neat and the way it throws the props back out is cool too.
Random idiots go around reporting files on the front page of garrysmod.org. They don't have a reason, they just do it.
Thoes people are noobs
Indeed, but it's sweet !! I wonder what's inside there :v: Great Job!
This is awesome!
I ask once again... (to Sakarias) Do you think my computer could handle it??? (average of 5-8 fps on Construct.)
Errrm, your comp can't handle hl2... How could it handle this? You just won't get any of the nice effects, or anything.
the sounds are from red alert :D
from the original red alert intro =D noticed too by the way, the entity is awesome! really love the effects! only problem is (I just know this is going to happen to me lol) that some minge might activate it somewhere close to your contraption or what ever you are making. Now that would be sad =p
If you are doing it for your own sever, just make it admin only. It takes 15 seconds, not that hard.
I haven't even downloaded it yet and I'm psyched! :D Just hope it doesn't murder my computer And one other thing. All those other (awesome) things you made like the bottles with liquid in them, they ALL go in addons right?

All those other (awesome) things you made like the bottles with liquid in them, they ALL go in addons right?
Yep. Edit:
Errrm...I had a Quantum failure... The rebel was torn away from the field before it collapsed, and is now stuck in limbo. It's flipping awesome tough, being able to manipulate something from another dimension. Edit: Oh, also, I manged to destroy matter, by having a full one next to an empty one, and turn the full one on first, then the empty to suck it up. After the switch, when you try and your matter back...it's gone.
Peculiar. I thought i fixed that bug before i released it. Maybe the ragdoll had a high velocity when it got dragged out and slipped through. The device should automatically resoter gravity and color on the things that's dragged out.
Look, if you want to weaponise it, you need a small explosive to blow it up on impact, then it sucks in the rocket, it's self and your foes... Nothing left at all.
Could you expand on this? This SENT would make a useful grenade.
I found somewhat of a glitch. If you light the device on fire it begins the sequence to self destruct, but it does it for quite a long while, then the effect goes away, then the effect suddenly comes back and then finally the device destroys itself. it's a bit odd.

Beautiful thingy, but for V2 you should have it suck up sENTs and Vehicles and have the same effect as (AvOn?)'s wraith sucker-upper thingy from Stargate Adlantis. You know...that thingy...
I installed this on my server, it's really neat. And thanks for adding the resources to the Lua files already, that makes life much easier. Although, I would suggest making this admin only by default, it's a bit deadly for just anyone to use.
This really needs to be made into a grenade. Anyway, I don't know lua, but isn't there a command where you can assign permission for the props to the player who spawned the device or something like that? I would think this would allow a player to remove the item using the cleanup everything thing.
Really nice job, I'll just suggest 2 things: 1: Make it wireable 2: Make a short delay before it gets activated so we can get away without being hurted at all If you don't want to, well, it's still a nice tool. Thanks for making it.
