How about a simple api for other coders?
Like a function to add own stuff to a entity class, calling a defineable function
Aka
AddMouseFunction(entclass,name aka open door,lua function) ?
This is great. You have my download.
Great stuff. But One suggestion is to change the binding key or add a command to disable it, for post processing (color mod, motion blur, etc) the only way to look at what you adjust with the sliders is by using the "c" bind (The "q" menu covers the screen, so the c menu is the only way to look at what you change)).Did that make sense? Great work though!
I will laugh when I make a client-side only version that is so much simpler and no use of stupid concommands.
I give myself 30 minutes to make it after I finish another project.

Were you born a douchebag or did you have to work at it?
You can't make a lot of these things clientside; a lot of them have to be called on the server to work ( opening doors, pressing buttons, etc ).
Ontopic: This is a very awesome idea, very unique :) Surprised someone didn't think of it sooner.

Really, being right about how unoptimized this is and way too complex, he could have saved himself tons of time on this, and made it client-side so it can be used everywhere.
Not to be a 'douchbag' like suggest, but I am about to prove you wrong, and this is not about flaming, this is about people wanting it client-side.
Staying on topic is a good idea.
a video game editor like gui for making/welding in game is not far away i presume even with this being as ruff as it is
I'd just like to point out that in the video, garry is in fact using the context menu, not the physgun. You can do what he does in the video in Gmod with the context menu and Easy Weld.
And pcwizdan, you are wrong. Using an entity requires the server to do it.
Elevator, I'm not saying that mine doesn't require the server to do it, I just got Nick in my server, we tested it, IT WORKS.
It's a trick, but it works flawlessly.
There's more than meets the eye, and convar customization (a good batch of them)
Less than 320 lines of code, and its optimized.

I have completed a completely client-side remedy, that's right, GO TEST IT FOR YOURSELVES.
P.S. to exitus, I laughed, hard.

WOW!
no
I mean
WOOW!
HALLELUJA
I didn't even know this was possible in Lua!
Holy nuggets you've got my download!
Garry should
NO MUST add this in the next update with full credit to you.
Holy noodles!
This mod is installed on my servers!
Edit:
And I'll recommend it to my friends
Edit:
I know it's serverside but does it do anything clientside?
I mean is there anything you can use in servers that don't have it.

Garry wouldn't add some noob code to his base.
http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=567225 is way better than this, as ANYONE can use it outright, no need for server files installed.
As for this idiocy:

Have you heard of +use? It's called from the client, no need for anything special installed on the server.
Also, I believe calling someone a douchebag is not only flaming, but completely ignorant considering you have no idea the kinds of things that are capable in client-side Lua. I doubt you can even write Hello, World! to the console.

Goddamn.
This one allows you to press use, and move props Missing Information Physgun style.
The Client Aiming Script lets you have a awesome aimy thing.
WHICH ONE.
Of course, if the Client Aiming Script has all those "use" features your one has, no contest :keke: .

The only thing I can say is do not tell other people what they are doing wrong, first look at what you do yourself and what you are going to do because I can see at least 3 things you're doing wrong in that post.
I like this mod and I installed it on my server.

Please calm down they are both good releases.

If you wanted those you would have to make it server side.

Now to find the 'Noob' rating, yeah, you're really not making a point about anything we care about.
Now on topic, why does it matter that my client-side version doesn't allow you to magically use entities at a far distance.

Why does every noob on facepunch say calm down whenever they get disagreed with, is it because you can't take the truth? Seriously cut it out.

The context menu still works normal. Just hold C and the context menu shows up and you can use it like you want to but clicking outside the context menu makes my script kick in.
Edit:
Wait, it doesn't. I will fix this.
Sippeangelo, any chance you could move the Physics gun control and mouse based movement over to the client, and leave the entity control on the server?
I would use simple mouse control, but it doesn't offer the entity control on EMC enabled servers, and you can't mouse scroll.
And no way in hell am I going to download picwizdan's release.
Until then, I've installed this on my client for singleplayer use, and I'll hopefully get this installed on some dedicated servers. Great job man.

You can't take the truth that you should calm down. Sheesh, it's just a bit of banter. Don't take it seriously.
More like noob activity and stupid off-topic flaming...

My palm just merged with my face.
Also, why doesn't the word "Noob" insta-ban, or at least deduct some smartness?

I wonder who is flaming here. Get back to reality, then get out of my thread.

If you know that's what you're doing, why continue?
Face Punch? What has happened to you?
I wonder who is flaming here. Get back to reality, then get out of my thread.
Sorry, but you seem to be confused with the fact that mine has some sort of use/movement system client-side, obviously that's not the point of the mod.
I won't link to that other bitch.
I hope you don't, then they'll expect more of your coding bullshit.
Do some research and read my fucking thread before breaking loose like and idiot.
Did quite a bit of both, found the latter to be lacking in...usefulness versus just exploiting long-range entity interaction.
They are CORRECT. You can not use an entity client-side. Only move it around.
Oh really? You can move entities on your CLIENT-SIDE? Pretty sure that is not right, unless you're talking about the physgun usage, which, would be key-presses sent to the server and the server sorting out the movement.
+use/-use worked fine for me.
:sigh:
My palm just merged with my face.
Is that because I didn't use red words and distracting animated images?
I'll be sure to choose a more retarded action like that next time, just for you my dear.
Thanks mikfoz.
Now, back on topic.
So far I will add this in the next version:
* Adding prop protection support [done]
* Making some features admin-only [done]
* Cvar configurations [done]
* Lock/unlock vehicles for admins [done]
* Fix the stargate iris not working
* "Coder API" thingy for adding their own actions
* If the code does not exist on the server, make the client still able to use their physgun (I hope to cooperate with Hemuli if he wants to?)
* Fixing not being able to turn thrusters on/off [done]
* Context menu not showing up when pressing C [fixed]
* Fix ring transporters [fixed]
* Fix error when clicking skybox [fixed]
Something more to add?
Glad to see you are sticking with it even after the criticism from other parties. Nice little addon, keep it up.
It's nearly like playing Penumbra! :excited:
