Not the best idea, the halo 2 drop pods lacked windows to see through, unless you plan on editing some parts of the texture to be transparent and look like glass (but not the whole door), or add a view model that is like the h3 odst one, along with making the pod model not rendered to the user. otherwise it will have to be thirdperson

i have the odst version of the pod model. i was talking about extracting the launch bay from halo 2.
i cant wait for this to be finished

thank you =) i learned basic lua within a week. its pretty similar to c++ and flash action script. i learned it by looking on the wiki and reverse engineering other people's scripts. quake 2 helped me understand the game mechanics through mapping since the source and quake engine are similar.
btw is anyone having problems with lua coding with notepad? cus when i write a code with it, gmod seems not to recognize it so i need to use notepad ++
I dont think i will ever be able to understand lua. let alone C++.

Great job cheese! This will keep me tied over until the odst one comes out. Im currently working on a little project of my own.....A flyable In Amber Clad (in entity form). Ill start a thread up later, but for now im gonna launch this Drop pod about a bazillion times more =p

congrats on 1a, only 2 problems is that, 1. it is annoying to drag the dropper up to the top of the map, i suggest some sort of system that brings it up, and freezes it. 2. the dropped pod shakes alot.

1. then go to the top of the map and spawn it there. it really depends on your purpose.
2. that only happens when it's lanched sideways. hold shift and e to snap the launcher to the world grid then launch, it shouldn't shake.

its pretty good. The only thing i can say is that it feel's a little awkward when the pod shoots down. It feels forced, not dropped. This is to be expected though however, due to the fact that its just a tweaked version of the main pod launcher. I am looking forward to the ODST version. Hopefully it will feel more like a "drop pod" than a rocket. That being said, your stuff freaking ROCKS! I could set the launcher off over and over again.
I don't know if I have it aligned right, but the downward pod wobbles too much on the way down. Like, the bottom will create a centrifuge. It's not big, but it can get annoying.

hmm...i guess this is a bigger issue than i thought. the pod stabalizes by pushing the top up and bottom down with an equal amount of force. also, it's supposed to feel like that, the pod is launched down not dropped it's the same in 2142. when i find a solution, i will return!
for the odst pod, i can get the sound, but it is the cut scene sound were all the pods launch, so you have to edit the sound
I havent downloaded this yet but by looking at your first video Don't you think it launches you abit high.
Because not every map even has a skybox that big.
maybe that not every map it that tall, But its so funny to hit the skybox and spin out of control.
Even more funny watching other people use it fo the first time and hit the skybox resulting in screaming in panic into their microphone. I always LOL at them.

well thats how high the 2142 pod goes in the game. i suppose that i could make adjustments.
btw there will be a delay in fixes and stuff.
